Miss Poodle's Picture
Miss Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.

Sewn Invitations Idea

August 6th, 2009 @ 8:23 am by Miss Poodle

I’ve seen some projects that have really caught my attention because, to me, mixing paper, fabric, stamps and sewn details = simply AWESOME!!

I wasn’t searching for anything in particular when I came across all these pictures. Just as always, I saved them in my “wedding folder” just in case. Now after organizing and seeing them all together, it all made sense.

I wanted something original that didn’t involve a lot of paper (because of the nature of our wedding, and the fact we don’t want to use a lot of “new paper”), and I love sewing because there are so many possibilities when it comes to fabric, so what better than to have both involved in our invitations?

I’m not going to show you the invitations right away. (I have to be mysterious in some way!) I’m just joking . It’s just that there are still a lot of details to work on to produce samples. I’d rather show you all the finished product, but for now, I can give you a clue about our invites by sharing all the cool DIY projects that inspired me. So, here they are:

This is one of my favorites, and no, it’s not just because it’s PURPLE smile018. I love all of Kathleen’s projects (that’s why I’m listing most of them here). You can find the full post that features this cool DIY project here.

I really like the colors on this one, but what I like the most is the leaf detail… I love it! This amazing invitation is from Studio MIKMIK via Twig & Thistle.

This is a DIY program I’ve seen on several blogs. You can find the tutorial here. Like the program? Check out their amazing invitations smile018.

Now, this is pure inspiration to me. You can find her tutorial here. Ohh, so pretty!!

This was one of my first Etsy finds. I love these envelopes!! Another reason to be an Etsy fan . You can find more from this seller here.

This DIY project was the winner in a Style me Pretty contest, and yeah, it’s amazingly cute (it’s another one of Kathleen’s projects)!!

If I’m listing the cute DIY favors, I just HAVE to post the rest of the matching projects, just because they are great! This is her sparklers project.

And the oh-so-cute label tags for coats are here. Lovely!

This one is a program DIY that I just love. If you want to check out the whole thing, go here. They’re so cute!

Easy and cute DIY favors? Of course, check out the full post and instructions here.

Who hasn’t seen the amazing wedding of Amber+Jeff ? Well, if you haven’t, you need to check it out! The theme is lovely. What I love the most are their save the dates (yup! I love pins). Simply awesome.

I love the way they use the pins smile018.

That’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed these projects. Do you have inspiration projects for your invitations as well that you’d like to share?

These are great. We have sewn a button and some ribbon on for a couple and it was really unique. Those were all hand sewn (a little bit of work!), but that purple with the cutout flower is awesome too! Thanks for putting these up!

I wish i had a tenth of those skills, sadly I’ve had a sewing machine I begged my Fi to get for xmas, but have only used it once!

I love your inspiration posts, Miss Poodle! Always so much to see!!

I love those sewn envelopes - the added texture of stitching on paper is so lovely, and I think it gives the paper products so much personality :)

Ha! I indirectly know “Shane & Kathy”! They work with my best friend & recommended our cake baker. If memory doesn’t fail me, they are both vegans. When I saw Chicago, IL on their programs, I looked closer at the names–small world!
