Miss Poodle's Picture
Miss Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.

Styling the Groom

August 7th, 2009 @ 2:43 pm by Miss Poodle

Of course I know Mr. Poodle knows how to dress himself, but I also know that he appreciates the picture ideas I’ve sent him and he does likes my ideas - most of the time.

Because of the nature of our wedding, even from the beginning, I never felt comfortable with the black tux idea or having a long train on my dress. So I started to search through several blogs and websites for pictures. After a quick search, I found the great OnceWed . At that time the site had no “groom” gallery” like they do now (thank you Emily!!!). The search is sooo much easier now. Of course, after I ran into Green Wedding Shoes, I also loved all their articles dedicated to grooms.

There are several ideas I really like for a casual groom, and here are some example pictures: The vest, suspenders (not sure If Mr. Poodle would like those, though), Converse shoes, a great hat, and of course, cool-looking socks.

I know most of these pictures have been featured on several sites, but I love them! They just don’t get old.

Is your groom dressing himself or are you sending him inspiration pictures? Where do you go for groom inspiration?

I’ll be dressing my groom and the groomsmen. Of course he has input, but he doesn’t really have much style : ) I really like all of these inspiration pictures and I’ve had something similar in mind for our guys. I especially like the red shoes picture :D

We opted for tuxes, but wait until you see the smashing outfit Mr. CC picked for himself for the rehearsal! He looked smoking!

my groom is very stylish and he found many of these photos himself. so we love all these ideas… the problem is where to find them!

My FI was stuck on tuxes until I suggested that he and the boys all buy a more relaxed suit that they all can keep. He now loves the idea of them all going shopping together and coming out with outfits that they’ll be able to wear again!

I like the vest idea BUT unless he’s skinny and has a washboard flat stomach, they always wrinkle. You can see that it all the pictures. I’m not big into wrinkles for my wedding day.

My groom is very particular about his outfit. He owns his own tux so he is wearing that with a custom cumberbund (sp?) and bow tie. If he had his way, our wedding would be black tie with the groom and groomsmen in tails but that is too fancy for me. :)

Those are some stylin’ guys! I wished I had been able to convince my husband do wear some cute socks, but he wouldn’t do it!

We went shopping together, but he was more into it than I was! He said he needed flavor.

We just ordered ties. I wish my groom would have more interest in his style for the big day.

Such a great post, I haven’t found this much guy inspiration in one place! So helpful!

My guy is pretty easy going, he didn’t want a tux, he was hoping to wear shirts and a hawaiin shirt, but it didn’t really go with our theme. I sent him some photos for inspiration of guys in khakis and navy blazers. He loved it, which works out perfect. It’s a good compromise, more relaxed for him, but a little more formal for me!

Wow! Look at all the hot groomies. The guy with the scarf is still my favorite–and his bride looks pretty amazing as well!

my favorite thing about all those photos is how the grooms’ styles and personalities totally get to shine! If girls get to do it, the gents should too. :)

I’ll be dressing the boys, with input from the Mr. I desperately want to put them in grey suits, but i just cant envision asking all of them to buy suits… i dont know why its any different than buying a BM dress, but somehow it is! We may buy ties and sneakers for them all to mix it up!

OMG! LOVE!!!!!!! Mr. B and Best Man went to the tux store to pick everything out, but I “confirmed” their choices (at THEIR request, may I add!) However, I loved all these ideas if we were having a more casual affair. :) Thanks for the great pics!

My mister’s focus was his tie. :-) Otherwise, it’s going to be a pretty simple tux that we’re renting.

i was inspired by JCrew Men, so our groomsmen wore black vests + black ties. The catch? We didn’t buy the outfits from JCrew, but for $17 off eBay! yaay!

I love the vests…love love love them! I wish my guy could pull off the converse sneakers…but I think he’d look pretty silly (how mean am I?)!
