The Menus Are Finally (Re)done!

August 7th, 2009 @ 3:08 pm by Mrs. Cloud

I know I know, everyone told me not to worry about a little spelling typo. Everyone said that no one would even notice. But I was losing sleep over one stupid little “S”, and someone was bound to notice. A guest at the wedding would very quietly mention that I had a small error on the menus assuming that I hadn’t already noticed. And then I would be the bride who was going to have the urge to hit a guest for bringing up the stupid mistake that had made me lose sleep for the past four months. I just didn’t want to be that girl.*

Instead, I redid them, and here they are in all their completed and properly spelled glory! I literally put the very last one together and ran to check it off the monster list. Because of the error (I swear I will never ever for the rest of my life forget that dessert has two ’s’es, and not one…) this was by no means a paper friendly product. It uses two sheets to begin with, all from PaperSource. The backing is red and the top is pure white, both cover weight. It just broke my heart to waste that much. So I decided I would give it a whirl and try to reuse the red. Poor Mr. Cloud had no idea what we were getting into. I had used about four different types of adhesive until I settled on the Xyron adhesive runner Miss Duckling used on her STDs. I highly recommend the stuff; it worked like a dream! But everything I used was a mess trying to get it off. And it took forever. Like a champ, he hung in with me (probably for fear that I might cry again over the silly things!). He ended up sitting like this for a few nights straight, picking away, at all 220 menus. I still love them and the way they turned out, but I am SO glad this project is done!

Did you have any DIY projects that you were more then happy to finally finish?

*I’m only half kidding. I sure hope I am not worried about things at that point. But right now, as the groomsmen are cracking jokes about eating “desert”, it’s not funny just yet. And I know them well enough, sothey might get hit. :)

I feel you. I spelled “accommodations” wrong (spellcheck didn’t catch it) and the FI pointed it out…after 70 envelopes were sealed. I TRIED to listen to everyone’s advice that “they won’t even notice it.” But I just could not get past it. It was in CAPS, for Pete’s sake! So there I was, re-doing all of them and reminding myself that tears smudge ink. ha ha. But they’re done…and it’s a funny story (now). Glad your story has a happy ending too!

PS: I’m sure “desserts” is burned in your memory like “accomModations is in mine, but I always learned that you want second helpings of dessert, thus the 2 S’s.

I feel ya! I am making my invitations and I can’t wait for them to be completed! The design was the easy part. Now I’m trying to decide how to bind the booklet, where to get them printed, what paper to print them on,….(and the list goes on and on!)….akkk! Again, I cannot wait until they are done!

After all that, I’m glad they turned out well. You know, I probably would have done the same thing in your situation, because it would have driven me crazy otherwise. They look great!

Aw, how good Mr. Cloud is! I would have had to do some major bribing to get Mr. HS to do that. LOL

They look great though!

Haha - if you have a wedding scrapbook - you might think about using the above picture for a bloopers page! Hopefully by the end of all of this you’ll be distanced enough to laugh. : )

@ jhguba… Thats a great idea to include this in a scrapbook for wedding photos! That is love to help you with all those! Im glad you got it off your mind now and that they are done!! YAY! Im dreading the diy invites…now that ive seen others there are little details I want to add or change…I did a mock up of one of them when I first got it and now i hate the little sloppy bow I tied…you cant even call it a bow…its just tied in a knot! But I think im going to band them like they probably should be in the first place! congrats to your menus they look awesome!

Being a teacher, it would have bugged me too. I don’t blame you. Thankfully you had a good helper.

One of my friends had the duty of proofing another friend’s programs. The proofreader was listed as the “wedding manger” instead of the “wedding manager.” I don’t think very many people noticed, but at least she identified herself incorrectly. So, no one would be a cow except the proofreader.
