Hi, remember me? The girl who promised a full round of recaps - only to disappear after a paltry three, never to be seen again?
Life got in the way. There have been many ups and downs in the Peony household this year and I am ashamed to say that I didn’t take the downs too gracefully. It was difficult to look at pictures of the happiest day of my life when life was dragging me down… does that make sense? Nonetheless, I am a strong woman (hear me roar) and I am getting things back on track.
On with the recaps!
After the Chinese Tea Ceremony, the bridal party separated once again so that I could change from my qipao to my wedding gown. (All photos are courtesy of my super-talented photographer Danny Weiss.)
I’m not sure what my bridesmaids were discussing here. I think it was something along the lines of, “What comes first? Shoes, crinoline, or bustier?”
Side note: I
the shoes above! I had purchased a pair of sassy red satin heels for the wedding, but while having dance lessons in them I realized that they became too uncomfortable after just a couple of hours. So I bit the bullet and splurged on the Stuart Weitzman Dubonnet pumps… and I couldn’t have been happier! They gave me a whooping 4″ in extra height and are still the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. I danced ALL night without having to rest my feet!
Meanwhile, I made sure that my hair and makeup were still intact after the tea ceremony.
I highly recommend my bustier, which can be seen in the two photos above. It was the Le Mystère L’image Seduction Bustier 2355 - it was very comfy, yet managed to make my waist tiny on the day of the wedding!
Then it was time to get into my dress. I knew that this would take a while, since my dress featured a full corset back.
My poor bridesmaids continued to struggle with the dress while I started cackling like a hyena.
I started to taunt them. “Is that all you can do? Tighter, I say!” (At this point I was starting to feel like Scarlet O’Hara.)
Eventually, my wonderful DOC Christine Viola stepped in and helped finish lacing the up the dress. Yes, the picture below was 100% staged.
Finally in! (That’s what she said.)
Do you like my necklace? I got it on eBay for $5.
My smile looks a bit forced here, and it’s no surprise. I was about to meet my groom for a second time!
