… for 131 days! Our fiance visa petition has been APPROVED!! And… what does this mean? Well, in about 4 weeks, our papers will be at the embassy here in Chile, and then we will have about 5 more weeks for interviews, medical, and all the rest of the papers. After that I can fly to California to marry Mr. Poodle!! Yay!!!!
I’ve been praying for so long! This approval is a huge first step towards reaching our final goal of being together forever. I was jumping all over the apartment when I read the email sent from USCIS. I knew Mr. Poodle was at work, so I couldn’t call him (he almost never gets service at the station), so I texted him the news!!! I just can’t erase the smile off my face. I’m sooo happy!!

I lost hope for several days, when the whole wedding planning process seemed to be a dream that started to fade away as the days passed. We talk about it every day, and Mr. Poodle was extremely awesome at the “Cheering Miss Poodle Up” task. Now I’m full of hope again!
The visa process has been an emotional roller coaster for me. After we sent our I-129F package, my hopes started rising when I saw we got our NOA1 (notice of action number 1) the next day! And the process time for those who sent their packages before us was between 30 and 60 days. I thought, ‘Woo hoo! This is going to be a piece of cake, and maybe we can get married around September.’ But, boy I was wrong. Sadly, our process wasn’t as smooth as the ones I saw back then, and even though I manage to stay busy, the waiting started to affect me. That’s why I decided to focus a little more on the wedding planning process and not so much on our immigration process.
With this amazing news, we could finally set our timeline and start planning our February wedding!
I know it’s not so common to wait for an email before you can start the wedding planning process, but have you found yourself waiting for a specific event - besides the proposal 
- to start your planning?

Congrats! I’m so happy for you!! I wasn’t supposed to start planning until after I graduated and after Mr. Longhorn’s cd came out, but that didn’t work out very well.
Yah, congrats! We had to wait til we found a venue… they’re not cheap around here and they book early. Once we found that, (which took six months!!!), everything else fell into place.

We had to wait to find out when my fiance and his best man would be back from their deployments. We wanted to get married earlier, but February became the lucky month for us!

And yes, I waited for a specific event (not the proposal!) to happen before I started the planning process. We got engaged last October, and this spring, I took over half of a vacation home that had been in my family for the last 30 years and it was a very nerve-wracking process full of legal documents and *tons* of money and more waiting and more lawyers… I figured, once I got beyond all that stress and worry, planning a wedding would be a piece of cake.
And now we’re actually planning the wedding! Just yesterday we booked our ceremony/reception venue *AND* set a date!!!!! After all the waiting and hoping, it feels great to get things underway!
OMG! I guess I was too excited!! and I even wrote the month WRONG!! We are getting married in January! hehe Sorry for that!!

Congratulations I have been through one visa process with my fiancee and am not looking forward to step two but stories like this give me so much hope!!!!!!!!
Congrats!!!!!! I know how you feel cuz I am a Japanese national married to an american living in the states. When I went through whole visa process, it was so stressful and driving me crazy. I coudn’t even sleep well thinking about the possibilities of my husband having to go back to the states by himself while I stay in Japan until the visa get issued. But after everything was done and got my passport back with visa attached I remember thinking, uhhh… maybe it wasn’t that bad. I was just making myself too stressed out by worrying about it so much more than I needed to.
Anyway, I just wish you good luck and hope the day you can be relieved will come as soon as possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations! I was waiting for my job to stop eating me alive, which would have happened about 2 WEEKS before our wedding, but (not-so) luckily, I left school 7 mos before our wedding w/ a heart condition. (I’m all better now.) Can I just say it again, Poodle–your English, I mean, WOW, just wow.
Congrats!! Yay for that email! We actually moved our date twice because my brother’s time in Iraq continued to get extended. I honestly held my breath until he was back on US soil. And told him that if they try to call him back up before the ceremony, I’ll hide him in my closet. NO way I’m getting married without my little brother to walk me down the aisle!
