Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.

Asking Them All Over Again

August 12th, 2009 @ 3:00 pm by Mrs. Poodle

Back in February, after Mr. Poodle and I started our visa petition, we couldn’t wait to share the news of our engagement with everyone!

Because not all of my girls here in Chile can buy a ticket to go to our wedding in California, I decided that my side of the wedding party would consist of my little sister and best friend from Chile, along with my other 2 ‘maids from California. I wrote everyone an email and asked them to be my ‘maids, but just like Miss Bear Cub, I did that months ago—but I needed to let them know in a more “official” way that I REALLY wanted them there with me smile030.

SO, I jumped on the card bandwagon!

I knew I wasn’t a good card maker, so I needed something really simple—something that I could pop the question again in and also where I could have plenty of room to write about the dresses I wanted to make for them, let them know each others’ information (since two of them are from Chile), and send them a little piece of the dress fabric. This was my sketch idea:

This is the finished result. I had old, purple ribbon and white, thick paper to use. I also found a (not very cute) green paper. I first drew and then cut the little dresses, and I also used a tiny piece of tulle for my veil smile030.

It took me around a half hour to get the 4 of those done (2 cards in Spanish and 2 in English). I was really happy to send them out!

How did you ask your ‘maids to be a part of your wedding party? Do you have long distance BMs? How are you handling the coordination with the distance between you?

I think I may just join the “ask all over again” trend… I was too excited to keep it in and blurted it out over the phone or in person. I want something more special to let them know that it is REALLY important to me! I love the card idea!

Those cards are super cute! I made a card in the shape of a dress and I made a hole punch on the side of the dress, where I tied a pink ribbon. Then, I wrote this poem that I found: The day, the dress
The bride, the groom
The joy, the tears
Will all come so soon

Professing true love
To my husband-to-be
With family and friends
All watching me

I hope the sun will
Be shining down,
Keep your fingers crossed
That I’ll fit in my gown…

But there’s just one more thing
that there needs to be…
and that’s to have you
Standing with me!
(Name), will you be my bridesmaid?

But, I haven’t actually given them to the girls yet! I’m so excited!!

I wish I would have seen this before I sent out my bridesmaid’s letters! I had been looking everywhere for a cute card and I never thought of making one myself. I love these!

Those are lovely! I especially love the “missing” dress.
I ordered my “will you be my bridesmaid?” cards through an etsy artist, they were super affordable (like ridiculously so) and very sweet!
Here is the link to the seller and my cards, in case anyone is interested:

Those are great! Simple, but well done. (You usually only hear “pop the question” in reference to becoming engaged–made me :) .) The “veil” is precious! Are the purple dresses made from the fabric you are using, oh crafty one? Your handwriting is great. If these were for sale-I would buy them! (I did the
Photoshopped ugly dress card as thank yous for my BMs–thanks Mrs. Kitten!)

I love them!! I made each of my girls a scrapbook with all of the pictures throughout our friendship. There was a card at the back of the book telling them why I valued their friendship and love and officially asking them to be my bridesmaid!
