Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Mrs. Poodle

Folding Day

August 12th, 2009 @ 10:27 am by Mrs. Poodle

Yesterday my MOH came to help me with some folding. We had some drinks and folded like crazy!  After a few hours, and with the help of my little sister, we folded 200 petals! There could have been more, but we needed to cut the paper, as well (we are not gluing the flowers because they have to travel all the way from
Chile to California).

Here are the pictures of the trial and some of the petals. Do you want to try this? Here’s the tutorial.

We also finished Mr. Poodle’s wedding band design. I’m so happy with what we have so far, so as soon as I get the ring I’ll take pictures and show you all. When we first talked about the kinds of rings we wanted, we decided we were going to buy each other’s rings and keep them a surprise until the wedding day, but we did agree on the materials: metal and wood.

We are really happy that my MOH actually designs jewelry and that she offered to make the 3 rings at material cost (I’m excited!! smile027). I thought that because we are working together on Mr. Poodle’s ring, I’d be able to have a sneak peek at what my rings are going to look like, but NO!! They figured out a way so I could know and see NOTHING! It’s better to keep it a real secret, but I’m terrible at handling secrets, so I feel like it’s torture every time Mr. Poodle only gives me clues about gifts.

Did you have a heavy hand in choosing your FI’s ring? Did he trust your judgement or did he prefer to choose his own?

Love that shade of purple — it’s one of our colors, too!

We picked out our rings together. Actually, I gave him a few to choose from! That’s so neat that you will be surprised on your wedding day. You’ll have to make sure he doesn’t see his on Weddingbee!

Also - way to go with all those petals!

What a cool paper DIY. I also think it’s really cool that you designed Mr. Poodle’s ring. My husband went with a pretty simple ring design, but I went with him to help pick it out.

These blow me away! I don’t think I’d ever have the patience or hand strength to do this :)

Wow, those flowers are so cool. I’m way to clumsy and lack the patience to even try something like that. Can’t wait to see how they all turn out!

Great blooms! Love the purple. I want to try a few even though my wedding has past! What is the 3rd ring–1. his wedding ring, 2. your wedding ring, and 3. ?? You’re pretty brave to let him design your ring (at least your friend can guide him!). A heavy hand in choosing my husband’s ring? You could say that. He wears my father’s super-blingy, ostentatious, gangster-y, “by the power of Grayskull” ring. I did ask him to commit to it before I sized & cleaned it, but wearing my parents’ rings is a nice memorial & saved us a ton of $. We may upgrade our bands on an anniversary, but for now, we are both happy with our “choices.” (My husband’s clients keep asking to see his ring, & when he shows it to then, there’s always this pause, & then “Oh that’s very__________. [insert unique, interesting, etc.])

The paper flowers are adorable!
As for the Dude’s ring, I just let him pick it out. I had no idea what he wanted, and it seemed simpler this way. I think yours will be so meaningful because it is handmade.

We’re picking out our rings together. =) We’ll probably get matching plain stainless steel/titanium bands with engraving on the inside of the band, from Metalsmiths or Things Engraved.

(Love the little flowers!)

@eileen marie: Well even tho we are “engaged” he really want to re-ask me this time with a ring on his hand (the first time was over the phone) once I arrive to California so the 3rd ring will be my “engagement” ring yay!!! and “by the power of Grayskull” ohh that is so funny!! lol
