Glamnuptials: The Favors

August 12th, 2009 @ 12:45 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

When we were planning our wedding, the favors had been the subject of quite a big debate. We knew we wanted to offer a donation to the Quebec Breast Cancer Association, but felt that our guests needed to leave with something as well. We wanted to offer something glamorous, and these beautiful imported Italian Sparkling Water bottles were just what we were looking for.

We created little cards and DIY pink ribbons with the mention that a donation was made in memory of my grandmother and in honor of my mother, who is a proud survivor. My mother felt so touched by the gesture.

We put all the bottles in a nice pattern and placed some centerpieces at the end of the table to tie everything in. Plus, I had received this awesome Pottery Barn Vintage Movie Projector as a gift, and it added that touch of the movie theme that our favor table was lacking.

The guests loved our favors and still talk about them today… some even shed some tears! I’m glad we gave back to a cause that was important to the both of us… and hopefully one day, our contribution will have paid off.

What a great idea and the water bottles are so chic!

Did you do a “trial run” with your favor display/table prior to the wedding day? I can’t figure out if it I need to practice our favor table layout or just let the reception coordinator figure it out.

I love that! Looked beautiful and yet it was simple. Either edible or charity donation is my thoughts on doing favors. Plus, you donated to a charity that was close to your hearts, and those you love, so that’s even better! ::hugs:: To your mom for being a survivor. I am friends with one of my mom’s coworkers and she is going through breast cancer also. ::sigh:: Horrible thing it is.

I love this! I was recently at a wedding that had a donation to the Pro-Life foundation (something that I’d consider a politically heated subject that should be left out of the wedding arena), but yours truly shows your dedication to something close to your heart that affects everyone at your wedding. I’m glad to see you’re supporting such a great cause :)

What a pretty and meaningful gift. My mom is also a breast cancer survivor, so I definitely appreciate the sentiment. :)

Thanks for the compliments everyone!!!

@MsB: Our budget was 2$ per guest and the water bottles cost 1.45$ so we donated 110$ + 100$ from the money dance.

Wow, Flamingo–great idea! Everyone loves favors that are useful! I love to mix sparkling h2o with fruit juice. And it is very touching that you chose to honor the important women in your life. (The movie camera is cool! Can it play reel to reel films? I’m guessing not. My husband is a movie buff, but we’d have no place for it.)
