A Midnight Snack

August 13th, 2009 @ 5:15 pm by Mrs. Dew Drop

I’m not sure how it happened, but Mr. DD and I have very few single friends left.

Oh, yeah, we’re getting old.

Needless to say, this means we’ve been to a couple of weddings in the past year. This has given us a good chance to borrow shamelessly steal other people’s ideas for our own wedding. So, just like our friends F and P, we’ll be having sliders as a midnight snack.

Well, actually, since we have to be out of our venue at midnight, it will be more like an 11PM snack. Still, I’m really excited about it. Food that I might actually have a decent chance of eating on my wedding day? Score!

Apparently we (and, of course, F and P) are not the only fans of the late night snack. Check these out:

A Midnight Snack : wedding food Donuts02

Donuts and milk photographed by Jessica Claire

A Midnight Snack : wedding food Pop Sli

Popsicles, sliders, and sweet potato fries (all from the same wedding!) from Events of Love and Splendor

A Midnight Snack : wedding food Icecre

Ice cream sandwiches from The Knot

A Midnight Snack : wedding food Caramel

Caramel apples from Brides.com

A Midnight Snack : wedding food Mcdonal

McDonald’s cheeseburgers from Mrs. Emerald’s wedding

Are you a fan of late night snacks at weddings? Are you planning on serving one at your own?

And, also, am I the only one who really wants a donut after seeing that first picture??

We ordered pizzas and they were a hit! It was an 11 o’clock snack for us too :) I actually scored a slice which totally helped because I didn’t each much of my dinner.

We have a complimentary hot dog cart that will be set up outside for when out guests leave. They get a hot dog (beef, kielbasa or veggie), chips and soda. OM NOM NOM NOM!

That sounds like an awesome idea - and it REALLY makes me want both a donut AND a MickeyD’s cheeseburger…so sad!

I wanted to do this but couldn’t figure out how to budget it. How did I not think of pizza, burgers or donuts?! Great ideas all :)

I love the idea of a late night snack, we will have a cookie bar that our guests will be helping themselves to at the end of the wedding so its “sorta” like a midnight snack, but def not as cool as cheeseburgers & fries!

I wish we could do this but our guests will be eating at 6ish after very light apps, plus our pie/mini cheesecakes/etc bar and then will be gone by 11….I don’t know if they’ll still be hungry. Maybe I’m wrong?!

i like that idea, though i’ve never attended a wedding that kept popping that late! i think the latest wedding i’ve been to ended at 10pm and we weren’t hungry by then [even with all the dancing].

I don’t think I’ve ever seen those Mickey D’s cheeseburgers from Mrs. Emeralds wedding! Hubby would have LOVED that idea!

Due to noise rules in our sleepy little beach town venue, our reception has to be over by 10. So, while we’re not having a midnight snack there, we’re thinking about having an afterparty at our cottage and having the caterers fix snacks for that. I really want burgers and huge bowls of fries…or all sorts of yummy pizzas.

Oh, I want the sweet potato fries. I’ve never been (or stayed long enough) to see a midnight snack at a wedding but I can really appreciate the idea! I usually need a snack after a night of dancing.

i am totally doing this at my wedding! we are doing white castle sliders, fries, onion rings and lechon (very common for both of our cultures, though we are from opposite ends of the world:-). our party is going to go on til dawn, so our guests will need to refuel. after so many libations——i don’t really think they’ll care what they’re eating. one wedding had a taco bar at midnight. who doesn’t love tacos after some drinks??

and, please pass the doughnut….preferably a boston creme chocolate doughnut! yum!!

What great ideas! More food is always a fabulous way to keep the party going! The caramel apples may actually work into our wedding since my guy is always saying how much he just adores the cavity-inducing sweets.
