Mrs. Bunny, Columbus Age and Occupation: 24, Associate Editor/Reporter Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Reporter Engagement Date: September 23, 2008 Wedding Date: July 2009 Venue: Everal Barn, Westerville About Me: Organized, but messy. I love art (all kinds). I don't have any secrets. I talk a lot and listen even more. I show love by baking. I'm timid by nature, but brave when it counts. Mr. Bunny and I work at competing weekly newspapers, which makes it a little interesting trying to describe our work joys and frustrations without giving away too much before the paper comes out. In spite of that little hurdle, we've managed to build a pretty solid relationship in the short one-and-a-half years we will have been together when we tie the knot. I can't wait!
About Mrs. Bunny

Welcome back to the Bunny Bridal Countdown!

When we last left our intrepid heroine, Miss Bunny was having a major meltdown over her seamstress’ prediction that her dress couldn’t be altered to fit.

The dress was much too tight. It fit fine when I bought it of course, but I’m the type that gains weight when I’m stressed out… and believe me, wedding planning stressed me out!

Then-Miss Yorkie, only a week away from her own wedding, offered to send her 30-day Shred DVD in an effort to help me lose a few pounds. The gesture was mostly symbolic, though. I used the DVD once — and nearly passed out. Yes, I am tremendously out of shape. Don’t make fun! It was very serious and demoralizing at the time! ;)

My mother and I spent the weekend looking for a replacement, but the only one we found that would fit was this number from David’s Bridal. Unfortunately, it was way out of my price range. On top of that, I only liked it. I didn’t love it.

Thinking back on it now, I probably would have felt pretty good about wearing it on my wedding day. Sure, it wasn’t the most flattering cut, but I would have looked nice.

Instead of taking the safe route and buying a new dress, I decided to renew my commitment to Weight Watchers online and trust that the alterations would work well enough for my own modesty standards (if not my mothers’).

At the second fitting, we ditched the longline bra I’d been wearing underneath the dress in favor of a more au naturale fit. It’s hard to explain, but somehow, everything just fit better without the bra on.

Within a week and a half, I went back for a final fitting to test final alterations, the length of the hem and the bustle.

The dress zipped up much easier this time (thank you, Weight Watchers!), and I felt confident that the girls would remain firmly in place on the day of — with the help of a little Hollywood tape! ;)

Success!

Crisis averted! Thank you, Jackie!

Now all I had to do was hope that I wouldn’t drown in a sea of taffetta-induced sweat. But hey, I couldn’t control the weather, right?

Your dress is beautiful.

I tried that very same dress from davids bridal and I too thought it was unflattering. It was pretty but not the hundreds of dollars pretty.

I’m so glad everything worked out for you, it looks TERRIFIC! I bought my dress 8 months before the wedding when I was in GREAT shape. Between moving to the other side of the country, planning, and a new job I gained 10 pounds and my dress wouldn’t fit at all at my first fitting! I was in tears… I told the seamstress not to alter the sides bc I was already back in the gym. At my second fitting the dress was a mere 1/2 inch off… I said forget it and had her put a corset back in it… it was the best thing I did! It looked gorgeous and although I did lose some more weight I wasn’t stressed over it… Again, You look BEAUTIFUL in your dress! :-)

From what I can see in the pictures you looked beautiful. My seamstress is putting some kind of medestry strap in the top of my strapless dress to make the top edge fit closer to my body.

I just wanted to say that I loved reading about your quest to not only fit, but fit your modesty standards. Sounds similar to some of my own dilemas! The dress looked GREAT in pictures.

Such a flattering dress! I can’t wait to see you wear it down the aisle, but like Mrs Perfume, I like the way you’re recapping.

*whew* so glad you were able to make it work! I eat a lot when I’m stressed, but I also workout when I’m stressed. I’m hoping the stress of the next 2 weeks will balance itself out!

It ended up fitting you beautifully! It’s funny how sometimes things fit better with underwear and sometimes they fit better without. I can’t wait to see full dress pictures!

i had to thank Jillian for the 30day shred. however, wedding stress made me drop even more pounds, and my too-tight dress ended up being way too loose! urgh!

still, glad everything worked out for you, yaay!

I know what you mean about ditching the bra! I decided to go ahead and just ditch my corset because my dress was soooooo much more comfortable and zipped up so much easier! Sure, they made my chest area look AWESOME, but I think they’ll just be fine. I would rather have comfort!! Now if I can only find the receipt and take that darn corset back!

I’m glad things worked out!

Beautiful! And you know what? I’ve been known to ditch the bra once in a while on a snug dress - sometimes it makes ALL the difference! And most often, people can’t even tell!

bunny - just had to ‘hop over’ and also comment that my dress fits better without the longline bra! i did get some alterations and will likely go with a regular strapless, but it’s so weird how an undergarment that’s supposed to help a fit can really do the opposite!!
