About Mrs. Powder Puff

Love, Sweet Love: The Ceremony

August 14th, 2009 @ 4:53 pm by Mrs. Powder Puff

So, we last left off when I had reached the end of the aisle. I was so happy to have all of our guests there to witness one of the most important days of our lives, but Mr. Powder Puff and I could have literally been in front of a crowd of thousands and I wouldn’t have noticed. All I could see was him.

1

2

Our pastor said a few words.

3

A few words that were hiLARious to me for some reason…

4

5

And we faced each other.

6

Bridesmaid Keri read Union.

7

Then we said the words to each other that would make us husband and wife.

8

He’ll never admit it, but Mr. Powder Puff got a little teary during this part. And so did I.

When it was time to exchange the rings, I threw poor Mr. Powder Puff for a loop. Before the ceremony, I switched my engagement ring from my left to my right hand. When it was time to slip the ring on my finger, Mr. Powder Puff tried to put it on the finger with the engagement ring, naturally. Whoopsy!

9

Whoa, wrong finger there, partner! But you sure are hilarious!

10

That’s better.

11

You get one too! You didn’t think you were going to get off that easy, did ya?

12

After the rings, it was finally time to seal it with a kiss! Never ones to take the easy route, we decided to add a little drama, for our guests’ viewing pleasure, of course.

13

The kiss started out innocently enough…

14

Then we got a little carried away. All perfectly spontaneous, of course. It’s not like we practiced this the night before or anything. Really.

15

Wooooo!

16

17

It was truly the best kiss of my life!

After the kiss, we had a little surprise for our guests—the ceremony wasn’t over! Haha, gotcha! Our pastor actually suggested this ceremony structure to us a few days before the blessed event, so we decided to roll with it. Why not, right?

So the next thing on the docket was a solo. My beautiful sister, Sister Powder Puff, sang “The Way I Am” by Ingrid Michaelson. And once again, I’ve included the song. Go ahead and listen, it’s really cute!

18

I ADORE this song! I feel it’s a really sweet representation of the realities of a relationship. Plus, our guests loved it. We even got some chuckles for the Rogaine line.

After the song, our pastor said a long prayer and blessed us.

19

And then… we were pronounced husband and wife!

When we first became engaged, Mr. Taffy always thought I had forgotten to wear the ring because he looked for it on my other hand! I will have to show him this post. :)

Mr. Powder Puff did that too! He’d grab my right hand and ask, “Where’s your ring!?” On my left hand, silly billy!

sooo sweet! my hubs teared up when I walked down the aisle and I did when we said our vows.

oh, p.s. i warned my husabnd ahead of time about the ring hand exchange and was all like “duh! left hand”

but i doubt he would’ve remember if I hadn’t reminded him!

(I ended up having to put my ring on my pinky because my right ring finger is full half size bigger than my left!)

From now, I am only going to want recaps with music. It makes it so much nicer! I think it’s so sweet that your sister sang to you. Great touch.

My husband did fine with the rings, I however, put his ring on his right hand. I was facing him and put it on the same hand I had my rings on. I realized halfway through putting it on, but since the ring was small for his right hand I had shoved it on and it would not come off. After the ceremony his dad had to get some soap and coax it off.

As a fellow (past) Michigan bride, I’ve loved following your story, and think you have such a cute style! I also had a friend sing ‘The Way I Am’ at our ceremony, and everyone loved it!
