We're young, driven and madly in love. Together we're pursuing our wildest dreams including our biggest undertaking yet, a vintage retrospective wedding filled to the brim with DIY madness. While I might be an overly obsessive creative with too many ideas and nowhere to put them, Mr Lightning is my biggest fan and I can't wait to make my true love mine.
About Mrs. Lightning

Three Nights, Four Pots of Tea, a Seven Hour Movie Marathon and We Finally have Wedding Invites! : wedding diy invitations Invite2 This was, as they say, a real labour of love; one that almost killed us. We thought we’d get it all done in a day, but apparently paper cutting takes a lot longer than that, and it can be a real workout on the arms when you’ve been guillotining for 7 hours straight. We even started discussing the bible and how well the best-selling book Harry Potter had fared in worldwide book sales at about 2AM on Saturday. Anyways, once again, it’s late and my camera doesn’t do well in this sort of light, but I’m eager to post about them as they’re finally complete.

Who would have thought such a small pile could come from all that paper…

Three Nights, Four Pots of Tea, a Seven Hour Movie Marathon and We Finally have Wedding Invites! : wedding diy invitations Invite4 Here is the full suite including the vellum paper sleeve and silver envelope with wraparound address and return address…

Three Nights, Four Pots of Tea, a Seven Hour Movie Marathon and We Finally have Wedding Invites! : wedding diy invitations Invite3 And finally our crazy kitty Zeus who kept us company ’til late into the evening (and yes, those are the most uncomfortable chairs in the world).

Did you work on your invites from start to finish in one big push, or did you spread the work out for a few weeks (or months)?

Beautiful! Well worth the labour, I feel. (And I know how you feel — I work in a print shop, and boy, trimming out photos and such can be such a pain!) =)

wow

You put your registries information on your card? Isn’t that a big no, no? Also, why are you putting “six for six thirty”? If you’re going for the pirate theme then it’s so strange to have such a mixture of formal wording (in the parents inviting part), but then add this to it. Also, shouldn’t it be “two thousand and nine?”

Those look SO great! We just finished our save-the-dates, and all that cutting hurt my NECK more than it hurt my back! I swear, it was stff for the next couple of days.. Good job, though!

These are so lovely and vintage feeling! I love them!

@wow: I must be missing the “pirate” theme…the language doesn’t seem strange at all to me. And two thousand nine is correct for the invitation.

I love those! So pretty!

What does “six for six-thirty” mean? I’ve never encountered that phrasing before.

I was so blown away, and then I saw that you’re a graphic designer and it made sense. Still blown away though. Well done.

Miss Lightning, your invitations turned out GREAT! I’m impressed!

@wow: “Two thousand nine” is grammatically correct.

I think etiquitte for including registry information varies widely by location and by what a couple’s family is used to. I think she did it tastefully, especially since it was on the information/rsvp card rather than the actual invite.
