“Faux”tobooth Prep and Props

August 15th, 2009 @ 5:10 pm by Mrs. Mascara

We’ve recently started to gather props and supplies for our “faux”tobooth! I was in Paper Source this past weekend for something totally unrelated, when I came across these chalkboard prints! At $6.95 a piece, I had to have them! We’ll mount them on some foam board and they’ll be ready to write on!

I also had some little cards made to tell our guests how to get their photobooth pictures, as well as providing instructions on how they can upload their own photos to our website. They arrived today and they look fantastic! I actually had them printed on 2″ x 3″ business cards, and they are the perfect size to fit in our guests’ pockets or purses. Now I’m just hoping they will actually use them!

Since we already have the backdrop, camera, tripod, and wireless remote, all that’s left for the “faux”tobooth are a few fun props (think hats and mustaches) and possibly a light of some kind. Any suggestions for cool props or types of lights we should use?

Boas, tiaras, top hats, fancy canes, vintage hats and gloves… or even sporting props like baseball bats and golf clubs… something that is uniquely you…

Cute idea! Love the frames!

My fiance and I were Mario & Princess Peach for Halloween last year, and we lent the Mario hat, Peach crown, and giant stuffed radish to a friend who got married earlier this year for her photobooth! Very fun.

Oooh those cool chalkboard frame. Maybe some props that are related to your the mister’s interests–like if he’s a big football fan, bring in a helmut. Or props related to one of your favorite movies.

Thanks for all the prop ideas!!

@Andrea: We got the wireless remote from a Wolf Camera store. We told them what camera we had and they gave us the remote that would work!
@Mrs. Espresso: The chalkboards are like 18″x24″ or so!
@yanabride: I made the flourish myself in Illustrator using the live trace feature, based off of the picture of the stamp on the website.
