Mrs. Bruschetta's Picture
Mrs. Bruschetta, Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 25, Communication Professional Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Physical Therapy Graduate Student Engagement Date: November 30, 2007 Wedding Date: August 2009 Venue: St. Thomas of Villanova Church & the F.U.E.L. House About Me: I’m a self-proclaimed grammar geek who loves singing (like, really belting it) in the car. My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! Being super competitive is in my nature, and talking excessively is in my genes. I’ve got a terrible sense of direction, but can always easily find my way into Mr. Bruschetta’s arms.
About Mrs. Bruschetta

I’m so confused. Is it August or April? I mean, seriously — enough with the rain! It’s in the forecast every. single. day. And it’s so humid I’ve abandoned trying to do anything with my hair. Ponytails and sloppy buns are my new specialty.

Messy hair’s fine for the next couple of weeks. But if these showers linger long enough to “attend” our wedding, I want to ensure my ’do stays in place — and my dress looks as pristine as possible.

So I started searching for cute rainwear.

I *LOVED* these boots, but wasn’t as crazy about their price. After having issues finding them in my size, I started wondering what type of umbrella I would be able to find to complement them.

If light blue were one of our colors — and I had a guarantee it would arrive in time from our neighbors to the North — I might have purchased this umbrella. (Mama Bruschetta, a self-confessed Francophile, actually asked for the pale pink full-sized version for her birthday. We’ll definitely be including it in some pictures if the sky is at all threatening!)

After shifting my focus from boots to umbrellas, I found this beauty — a super strong and extra enormous golf umbrella adorned with playful dots. (You drooling yet, Miss Star?)

Is it possible to love an umbrella? Because I was instantly totally into this one. So much so that I gave up on the adorable plaid rain boots, and started considering other options that allow us to include this umbrella as a rainy wedding day accessory.

It didn’t take long until I found the perfect pair. They remind me of (the soon to be Mrs.!) Gloss’ navy Wellies — but also echo the envelope liners that accompanied our wedding invitations.

With cheery speckled boots and a chic dichromatic umbrella, I’m almost hoping it drizzles a bit (but nothin’ more, got it Mother Nature?) on our wedding day. Almost.

Anyone else planning ahead with fun patterned or colored rain gear?

Just a word of warning — boots like that in warm weather will make your legs SWEAT. I have similar ones, and can only wear them in the fall and winter. Super cute boots and ‘brellas though! I need cuss words on an umbrella too. (I am in NYC so we’ve had the same terrible weather as you. Merde!)

I got married in the Philly area in April, so rain was on my mind as well. I did not purchase any boots. I did purchase all my maids and my mother a black multi colored polka dotted umberella. I got myself one to match but made of white satiny material. Both umbrellas were made by Totes. We had rain in our forecast, but on our day we had nothing but blue sky! It was great no to have to use them, but I really wish I had used them for photos anyway. Good luck with the weather!

Dude. I was a bridesmaid for a wonderful friend on friday here in Bozeman. August here usually means 85 degrees, sunny, an afternoon thunderstorm and beautiful evening.

It rained the whole day. Like a soaker rain that we rarely get here. There was a gap in the weather and they went for the outside ceremony. We all got down the aisle, and it started raining again. One 30 minute ceremony later, we we’re all soaked. It was still an incredibly beautiful and touching ceremony… But umbrellas and galoshes would have been useful props!

It never hurts to be overprepared!

Oh, I am so totally drooling, Bru! Umm, if the weather forecast starts looking nasty for us, I’m totally going to be re-visiting this post and checking out those polka dotted rain must-haves!

Those boots are really cute! Send that rain down south to Texas!! We’ve been in such a bad drought lately, there are even water restrictions!

I was starting to worry about the weather for our wedding day, but it’s been sooooo dry here in Central Texas that I almost wouldn’t mind if it poured all day! (Just stay dry for our backyard rehearsal dinner, please!)

So cute! I bought a pair of polka dot rainboots in college, and I have definitely gotten my money’s worth. They’re a good investment no matter what. I’m hoping for your sake that you don’t need to use them on your wedding day.

I love that umbrella and those boots. It actually rained a little on the morning of our wedding, but stopped long before our photos/wedding. I also have some polka dot rain boots (brown with blue polka dots) which I love!

I work in Philly and South Jersey, so I feel your pain. I swear, the (daily) downpours only happen during the window in which I am going from my car to a clients or when I am completely lost!
