The Bride Wore… Wool?

August 17th, 2009 @ 3:08 pm by Mrs. Crab Cake

Wool?

wool dress 2

I saw this wedding this morning featured at Craftzine.com. The Bride and Groom are sheepherders. Apparently, his waistcoat is made from the same wool as her dress.

How wonderfully creative!! Read the whole article here.

Very creative. I saw this when I was surfing the web the other day. Interesting, although…How freaking hot must that dress be???

I saw this and thought her dress was really creative and cool. Yikes, she must have been warm though!

Really neat but like BunnyBlue: I would be itching and also burning up at the same time!

Wow. It’s so intricate, but just looking at it makes me itch.

What I loved about this dress is that it’s SO personal! She raises and breeds the sheep. She even used wool from her FAVORITE sheep! So sweet…. even if the thought of it does make me itch!

ooo.. if only companies like smartwool or ibex or icebreaker would make a wedding dress - I’d buy it in a second!
Wool can be SOOOO comfortable, if made right. I’m actually wearing all wool right now :) (yay for smartwool!)
too bad she didn’t actually weave the fibers into a cloth. I bet the loose roving like that did actually feel hot & itchy :-/

This is the perfect dress for a sheepherder. Obviously it’s not your typical dress but it sure fits this couple. The picture of the bride with the sheep is priceless!

That’s so cute! Not for most, but perfect for them! And that’s what weddings are all about (besides the marriage, of course). :)

Her dress actually is very pretty, and he looks very dapper. I just wonder if she is very hot. :)

I especially like her dress in the last shot, away from the sheep. Thanks for sharing!

That’s such a cute way to incorporate their life into their wedding…I can’t imagine wearing this, especially since I’m allergic to wool, I’d be nothing but sweaty hot hives!

This really is incredible. Not my style, but that’s okay - I’m allergic to wool :)

I love it! And actually, I would bet that it’s not really hotter than your average satin ballgown. At least wool breathes!

I love it, especially the top! There are definitely some soft wools out there, and it looks like the bottom of the dress (the really hot part) is loose enough to let a draft in.

Whoaaaa now that is one of the most interesting dresses I’ve ever seen. I’m itching just thinking about it though (and sweating…yeeeesh)!

Wow, at first I thought “what was she thinking?!” But now I kind of like it. It’s different, I don’t know how many people can say they wore a wool wedding dress. Very hot though, and itchy too? My dress will be nothing like that one, however I am having a difficult time trying to find the perfect one. I want a sweetheart neckline with cap sleeves! You’d think that would be an easy find…but it’s not. =( I’m also finding it difficult to choose between having a live Chicago Wedding Band or having a DJ. I know that a DJ can play whatever you want, and the band has to learn certain songs you really want. But my dilemma is that I always wanted a live band, but what if I think of last minute songs and they can’t play them? Did anyone have live bands or is anyone going to?
