Oh Snap! Photobooth Fun

August 18th, 2009 @ 12:55 pm by Mrs. Lightning

A while back we booked a photobooth to entertain guests and add that extra bit of carnival fun we were after. It wasn’t easy finding a vendor in South Africa, but after some browsing I finally found Photobooth Inc. We’ve arranged for it to be placed in the smaller hotel restaurant which is adjacent to Pure. The operator will set up at the start of dinner so that it will be operational when people start venturing out of their seats to greet other family members and friends, and of course, later during the dance portion of the evening.

I’ve been trying to design a poster to direct people to the booth but felt it might not be visible to everyone. I think I’ll still do this, but in addition, I’ll make some custom ticket stubs telling people that we have a booth, and where to find it. The groomsmen can either hand these out to guests as they arrive, or I’ll put them at each place setting.

The best part of the booth? Our guests can take home a memory, and at the end of the night we will get a CD with all the images from the evening. Our photographer won’t get pictures of all our guests, so this way we’ll have a way of including everyone in our wedding album. I also think some of our best pictures will come from the booth, and it’s one of my favourite things that we’ve decided on getting for the wedding!

If you’re including a photobooth in your wedding, how are you letting guests know that you have one, and where it is?

Oh, put the tickets at each place setting! You could do a cute little card explaining about the booth and a vellum envelope holding the tickets!

I REALLY wanted a photobooth when we started planning. I was downright obsessed with the idea. But they were expensive, and getting one into our venue was going to be near impossible, so it just wasn’t meant to be *le sigh*
But I love the tickets! You might also want to chat with Mrs. Cupcake, she has an etsy shop where she designs posters just for this idea! And they are gorgeous so they would help grab guests attention!
Ahh, I’m still so jealous :)

love love love it! Photobooths are so great!

I say have tickets at each place setting - this way, you know everyone will get one. IT sounds great.

It’s right near the dance floor and stuff, so it won’t be hard to miss!

It is a great idea! We can’t afford a real photobooth in our budget so we are hanging a quilt that my grandma made for our wedding in one of the corners of our reception and putting a camera on a tripod with a remote control. We will have props- the mustaches, sunglasses, crazy hats, and a chalk board to write on.

@nixie: I’ll actually be making both the poster and tickets but will only be getting the poster printed at a local printer. The tickets will be printed in repeats on A4 paper through my printer :)

I made cards for each table explaining our candy buffet and our photo booth. We are adding a basket of fun accessories for even better pictures! I made mustaches on a stick…thinking these would be a hit!! Good luck!

I’m planning on having a fauxbooth (ala Miss Mascara) and make sure to pass the word around through the wedding party and the MC - but I love the idea of the individual tickets! So cute!

How we let people know about the photo booth, was start mentioning it early to all of our guests. When they would ask about the planning, we would casually mention that we got a photo booth and we hope that they would use it. Also, instead of an escort card, we made an “escort envelope” where the hubs had cut out corners for the guests to put their photo booth photos into it and gocco’d the middle with “Visit the photo booth and put your picture in the cut corners. Also come and get us because we would love to take a photo with you!” The envelopes were a hit and people were using it to put their photo booth pictures in it. It also served a back up to what we had mentioned earlier to our guests.

Another thing that encouraged people to go was the fact that the photo booth was right next to where the escort envelopes were placed.

If you are interested in seeing pics of what the escort envelope that I made looked like, pm me and I’ll send you pics.

you could also use as a guestbook - buy a large album and ask guests to keep two pics for themselves and glue two pics to the guestbook with a note!

i am doing a photobooth and my plan is to get acryllic magnetic frames the same size as the photostrip, I will place a 2×8 paper inside that says “place photobooth picture here” along with their name and table #

My fiance and i take photobooth pictures every year (for 6 years) so our table numbers will be pics of us from each year surrounding a hot pink table number, and at the bottom- directions to the photobooth! I also love this from etsy:

I’m doing a photobooth and using it as my favor. At first I didn’t think I could afford it, but then I realized I had already budgeted for favors, and found a way to make this work. The picture will print out in a 2X8 strip. I’m making a 3X12 matte with a thank you square on the bottom and then photocorners in the size of the picture so once the guests get their picture they can slip it into the corners and they’ll have a nice memento to take home and put on the fridge.

We had an awesome sign, and when we walked to each table during dinner we mentioned it to the guests, as our booth started after dinner too. We ended up with around 750 shots- we will probably have to make a few albums! Having it there was the best decision we made, we love the photos! :)

Instead of renting a real (and expensive) photo booth, how about a DIY photo booth?

“The best part of the booth? Our guests can take home a memory, and at the end of the night we will get a CD with all the images from the evening.” Nice memorabilia!
