We have less than a month to go until the wedding, so I really need to start talking about some DIY projects I have been working on! Time is flying by so ridiculously fast now. It’s do or die time for all of the little projects that have wormed their way onto my “to-do” list. Here are a couple that I worked on over the weekend:
Having a card box wasn’t exactly on the top of my list! I didn’t really understand why we “needed” one, and I haven’t noticed them at other weddings I have been to.
Granted, I haven’t been to a wedding in over five years, and at that point my mom was still gifting cards and signing my name on them! When I decided to make one I saw some really fancy and creative ideas! However, with time running short, I decided to just throw something together with materials I already had lying around the house. Reusing and recycling is always fun.
The box was an old photo organizer that had never been used to organize photos, just to store them in haphazard piles. I finally managed to get the photos filed away, dusted off the box, and cut a card-sized hole in the top. I hot glued some ribbon around the box and lid to keep it closed, and threw a random fake flower on there as well. The letter stickers were leftover from the engagement photo albums I made for my and Mr. Sprinkle’s parents!
My cuts aren’t super straight, and it may not be the most glamorous card box ever made, but I like it and it will hopefully serve its intended purpose!
I also threw together our flip flop box. This is a trend I have been seeing on wedding blogs lately that I absolutely love. I am the kind of girl that used to throw her heels off in the middle of a club and dance barefoot, because I would rather have been comfy than worried about how my feet looked! I wish such baskets were available every time I went dancing.
I picked up the sandals during a 30% off everything sale at Michaels, making them only $0.70 each. I ripped off the blue paper labels and added a large sticker with the size to make it easier to find your size in a not-so-brightly lit room!
I tried to get a nice variety of sizes to cover all ages and foot shapes. I am anxious to see how many guests actually take advantage of the basket, but I am not worried about having too many leftovers.
I also printed up a little sign that reads:
Kick Off Your Heels and Dance the Night Away!
*Please feel free to bring your flip flops home with you at the end of the night! Any unused or returned sandals will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.*
Are you getting close to wedding crunch time? Do you have a huge list of projects left to complete?
