About Mrs. Peony

I know that family portraits are not always the most popular of recap posts. However, how many of you can boast to having a family as big as mine? (All photos by Danny Weiss.)

“That’s it?” you say? Nope, these are only the ones who came from Korea to attend the wedding. Here are all the members of my side of the family… who were able to make it to the wedding.

Believe it or not, this is perhaps only 3/4 the full size. My father has 6 siblings and my mother has 5… I have over twenty first cousins alone! Compare this to Mr. Peony’s family -

Now, for the rest of the portraits…

With my mommy and daddy. I looked exactly like my father when I was younger - so much so that I used to be mistaken for a boy - and as I grew older I began to resemble my mother more. Do you think I look more like my mother or father?

You didn’t think I’d leave you without some silly ones, did you?

Wow, your family is HUGE! I have no uncles, and therefore, NO cousins.

I was sad that most of my large family couldn’t make it to our wedding. Darn economy…

I love the pictures of your impressively sized family!!! (And I think these days you look more like your mom :)

lol, i totally feel ya on this one. both my parents come from families of 8! =O I have 25 aunts and uncles (some not married), 29 first cousins, and 21 second cousins (children of first cousins). that’s just MY immediate family, not to mention parents’ cousins and their families… and my fiance’s family!! needless to say, a small wedding is so not possible with us, lol.

Ha. Mr. P has a huge family, too! But we were adamant about keeping the number down to 80, which was difficult and offended many. I love your big family shot, though — it was like our group shot! It captures all who are important to you.

My dad comes from a family of 12 kids - and the good Irish Catholics that they are have produced over 35 kids (my cousins) - and that is my Dad’s side alone! I love big families - I used to want 5-7 kids…but that was before my nephew was born. Now I want 2. :-)

I love that everyone’s a photographer. With that many people in a shot you know so many people want their own copy! It’s really great you could get so many people together.

Haha, you might have me beat by a little bit. Not sure, since I’ve never counted how many first cousins I have, but they are really spread out so a lot of them already have kids. My dad has 7 brothers, and my mom has 3 siblings. I’m guessing I have about 25-30 first cousins.

I think you look like your mom!

95% of my family is in HK and they couldn’t make it, that’s why my side was so small in the wedding. My grandfather had 3 wives and 10 kids so I have about 30 cousins, my mom’s immediate family is small but I got tons of 2nd cousins (think 40+)
