Post or Dangle?

August 20th, 2009 @ 5:35 pm by Mrs. D'orsay

Any clue as to what I’m referring to? It’s my ears, and in particular, how I plan on decorating them on the wedding day. Or really, how I planned, then couldn’t decide, then lost one pair of earrings and am back at square one with two weeks to go to the wedding. hmmm.

At first, I considered wearing smaller pearls and a cameo necklace. But that much jewelry seemed distracting and I eventually decided it was best to only decorate my ears. Then the question became posts or drop/dangle earrings? They need to be large enough to show up in photos, but light enough that I don’t get a headache.

I found this pair that I loved, but waited to long and they disappeared… le sigh.

Then I started exploring earrings that dropped or dangled.

I started to become concerned that my earrings would be competing with my veil, getting caught in it, or generally making my face/head are too “busy” and went back to looking at post earrings.

I stumbled over to Emitations and found this pair.

I ended up just purchasing the Emitations ones and hoping they work out! I’m at the point where I’m getting too close to our wedding date to be picky!

What kind of earrings are you wearing for the wedding? Posts or danglies?

I’m planning on making something… I’m wearing a chunky pearl and sparkly necklace, with some aqua likely, I’ll coordinate the earrings. If my hair is “up” I’ll dangle, if I opt for long locks, I’ll “post.”

If your hair is going to obscure your earrings, go for the posts. I tend to stay clear of dangles anyway because they tend to get caught in things.

Dangles! With my hair up and no necklace I needed some extra big sparkles somewhere :)

I find that I look weird in dangles (or at least I think so) since I’m used to wearing posts all of the time. However, I love the look of dangles on other people, and the ones you posted are especially gorgeous. I guess it depends on how you wear your hair.

I am planning on going with dangles, but nothing too huge!! I haven’t started looking though so that could change a couple hundred times before the big day!

Earrings are my wedding nemesis! I’m having the hardest time finding something that isn’t going to cost me an arm and a leg. I can’t wear sterling silver in my ears because they will instantly swell up and get infected to the point where I can’t wear anything in my ears for a few weeks. So trying to find something with white gold that isn’t insanely expensive is prooving to be a very hard time.

Pearl studs! I’m not really a fan on dangly earrings on myself.

My hair will be up so I’m going to wear my dangles! I love dangles anyway. My dress has a lot of detail on the top so I dont need a necklace but I gotta have my earrings! I vote Dangle but if your hair is down and will get in the way or cover the dangle then go post.

I really love dangle ones, but you make a really good point about them competing with the veil. I really love the pair you ordered!

I wore pearl studs. I really like the way they look in our pictures, understated, classic, simple <3

Those are great. I wore dangly pearls with a little sparkle, but I also didn’t wear a veil or necklace.

I am in looove with the dangle ones, But I have to find ones that aren’t weighty! Some dangle earrings have to much weight to them.

The first one ARE very pretty! I wish they hadn’t disappeared as well, but the ones you chose are lovely & will be big enough to dazzle AND photograph. I do love the idea of a cameo though. I wore the most precious earrings, but they didn’t show up that well in the pics. They were part of a set-my e-ring, a necklace & the earrings.
