Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.

Crinoline – The Evolution

August 21st, 2009 @ 2:39 pm by Mrs. Poodle

Okay, maybe evolution is too dramatic of a word for the change I made to my crinoline, but it sounds so cool!

Remember when I showed you all my crinoline? Well, after I looked at some pictures, I decided I wanted to spice thing up a little bit, like this:

Crinoline - The Evolution : wedding diy wedding dress Il Full01211 il_full012

{ Image Source (Link) }

But dyeing it was not really an option for me, because even though I love the way it looks, I didn’t want everything to be purple; I wanted white and purple. But re-doing the crinoline was not an option to achieve my desired look, so I opted for ADDING layers, instead!

Yes! I made it PUFFIER!

I know I’m possibly going to end up looking like a marshmallow, but I’ll take the chance – I have a feeling it will end up looking cool – or else I’ll always be remembered as the marshmallow bride with the white and  purple details. :P (I’m crossing my fingers big time at this moment that that doesn’t happen!)

So, I ran to my “fabric supplies heaven” and got 40 feet of purple tulle at $9.60. Oh, yes! (I told you, this fabric place is heaven!) Once home, I cut long pieces matching  height of my white layers and sewed them together.

And she said it was a perfect picture! }

Crinoline - The Evolution :  wedding diy wedding dress Curly C  { I had tulle everywhere, so by the time I started sewing, my baby Poodle Curly thought the crinoline was a tent for him to play in }

I’m much happier now smile010 because I can surprise everyone with a little bit of color under my dress. I just can’t get away from color, especially purple! I love it so much!

Are you attempting to add color to your dress? if so, what’s your plan?

That’s very cool. Most of the crinolines I’ve seen are just one color. I love the blend of the two!

That looks awesome!

I, too, have a colored crinoline–mine is blueish aquamarine. Also, the buttons on my dress were purely ornamental (my dress zips shut), so I’m having them replaced with blue freshwater pearls. And my seamstress also offered to scatter blue crystals around at the centers of some of the flower embellishments on my dress. And I have colored shoes. I’m a very colorful bride. :)

wow that is awesome! you are so talented! I love it! my dress does not have room for such things underneath, but I’m on the colored shoe bandwagon and wearing navy blue heels.

That is stunning! I would definitely try that IF I were wearing crinoline… but no puffy dress for me! :)
