Mrs. Bunny, Columbus Age and Occupation: 24, Associate Editor/Reporter Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Reporter Engagement Date: September 23, 2008 Wedding Date: July 2009 Venue: Everal Barn, Westerville About Me: Organized, but messy. I love art (all kinds). I don't have any secrets. I talk a lot and listen even more. I show love by baking. I'm timid by nature, but brave when it counts. Mr. Bunny and I work at competing weekly newspapers, which makes it a little interesting trying to describe our work joys and frustrations without giving away too much before the paper comes out. In spite of that little hurdle, we've managed to build a pretty solid relationship in the short one-and-a-half years we will have been together when we tie the knot. I can't wait!
About Mrs. Bunny

I’ve Been Demoted!

August 21st, 2009 @ 8:32 am by Mrs. Bunny

Looking down at my left hand is making me sad today because there’s no pretty wedding band there! I feel as though I’ve been downgraded from wife to fiancee!

The reason I’m having to go without my wedding band for the time being is a little complicated.

First, I know I told you that we were getting my engagement ring engraved instead of my wedding band because it’s 3/4 openwork. We ended up changing our minds on that point. Instead, Mr. Bunny picked out a more concise inscription for my wedding band and took it to our jeweler to get it engraved.

I don’t remember the first time I saw the inscription in the ring, but I swear that I didn’t notice until mid-way through our reception that it was wrong!

Now, don’t blame the jeweler or Mr. Bunny for the mix up. It’s really not their fault. I decided a long time ago that when I change my name, I’m going to change from First Middle Maiden to First Maiden Newlast. Mr. Bunny was well aware of this, but it just didn’t enter his mind that my new initials would be LAR instead of LMR. :(

I tried very hard not to make Mr. B feel bad about the mix up, but I knew I’d have to get the inscription corrected at some point. Today seemed as good a day as any to take it back to the store and ask for it to be redone. It’s a relatively simple process, the jeweler explained. The engraver will burnish out the old engraving and replace it. I think the woman who does engraving at the store must be a little backlogged, though, because it won’t be ready for pickup until Monday or Tuesday! Ack!

On the bright side, I got my engagement ring and my wedding present, which I’ll show you soon, cleaned while I was there, so they’re both sparkly and beautiful!

By the way, I love Mr. Bunny’s ring — and so does he! We picked it out together the same night we picked out mine, but it’s very similar in style to what I always imagined he would want. It’s a celtic knot design in brushed white gold, and since he works at a desk all day long like I do, he never takes it off! (At least, that’s what he tells me … hmmm … ;) )

The inscriptions we chose out for our engravings were our little secrets that we kept from each other until right before the wedding. Once my ring is fixed, it will say “LER ’Faith’ LAR”. Mr. Bunny said he wanted the ring to say faith for many reasons:

  1. We share our faith in God.
  2. Mr. Bunny has faith in me.
  3. I was a big part of helping Mr. Bunny find a renewed faith in God, which he’d sort of misplaced after a difficult time in his life.

For my mister’s ring, I chose the inscription “We’re a team. 07.03.09″. Mr. Bunny reminds me of that very sentiment if I try to shut him out or avoid telling him how I really feel. I’ve started doing the same for him.

Are you getting your wedding bands engraved? If so, what do they say and why?

Your engravings are very sweet. We decided not to engrave ours, mostly because I expect my husband will lose his ring at some point. ;) I actually need to get my engagement ring resized, but I haven’t wanted to part with it!

Your rings are really lovely - I’m glad you can get your engraving fixed!

Our rings are engraved with our initials, wedding date, and infinity symbol.

My favorite ring engraving are a friend of mine who engraved his wife’s ring with the sentiment “My Little Ostrich” - they were playing Scatergories once, and he put down “Ostrich” as a term of endearment, and they decided to let him keep it, much to his wife’s chagrin! So he needed to immortalize the fact that it was, indeed, a term of endearment by placing it forever on their rings!

ours will be engraved with ‘AML AML’ which stands for ‘all my love all my life’….it’s a family tradition on FH’s side, they sign all cards, emails, end phone convos, etc with this so I’m so happy to incorporate it!

Mrs. Bunny! I LOVE your husbands ring. It looks so similar to one my FH has in silver, and I know he would love to see some designs like this. Would you be willing to share with me/us where you found it/who the designer/store is? Or if you like, you can message me.

I’m newer to the hive, and am catching up on your specific story, as it has really inspired me thus far. Congratulations on being a Mrs! You are married, with or without ring… but I totally wouldn’t want to take one off either!

I think we are going to do our engravings at our one year, just to do something special and fun then. I know how you feel about being ‘demoted’… I have been e ring-less for two weeks now while my wedding ring is custom made… I feel so naked without it!

My Mr.’s ring says “Stand inside your love”. He’s a big Smashing Pumpkins fan and that song says EXACTLY how I feel about him.
My ring is coded! I don’t remember what the code is, but it is his nickname for me, our monogram and our wedding date all coded together using MATH! :) FI’s a NERD and I love it! I felt a little lame using a song title after he explained his but he reassured me that it’s perfect because I’m WAY into music and he’s WAY into nerdery! :)

I love that you wrote ‘Faith’ on his ring!
Are you going to give that name to a future daughter? maybe a middle name?

For a second, I thought you were going to say that the “wrong inscription” was something like “never to Fart” instead of “never to Part” a la license to wed ;)

your bands are beautiful! our bands are engraved too, mine says his name and our wedding date and and vice versa. I think that gives him no excuse to ever forget to whom he’s married with and also to remember our wedding date and my brithday (because it’s the same day!!) hehehe

I had his band engraved with “All My Love, All My Life” and he had mine engraved with “Mia Amica, Mio Amore” which means my friend, my love in italian. He actually called the Italian Embassy to make sure he used the right words! We honeymooned in Italy so that’s the significance of it.

My fiance’s ring is Tungsten, so it can’t be engraved, so we made sure to engrave my band with both of our initials and in Latin ” you and me, we, always”

My wedding ring is at the jeweler right now as well :) It was too big, and no time to resize before the wedding. No inscription on my b/c it’s cutwork.

fizicsGuy’s just says “I heart you”. He didn’t know I was getting it engraved until it arrived :)

Aww… the new monograms are so confusing, so I feel for Mr. Bunny :) Luckily it’s an easy fix! Whew! Mr. Peng bought me a gorgeous jewelry box right before we got married, and totally botched the monogram :) I never bothered to get it fixed (it’s obviouslt not as important as a wedding ring!). But it’s so confusing, what with all the ways you could change your name, so it’s ok!
