The reason I’m having to go without my wedding band for the time being is a little complicated.
First, I know I told you that we were getting my engagement ring engraved instead of my wedding band because it’s 3/4 openwork. We ended up changing our minds on that point. Instead, Mr. Bunny picked out a more concise inscription for my wedding band and took it to our jeweler to get it engraved.
I don’t remember the first time I saw the inscription in the ring, but I swear that I didn’t notice until mid-way through our reception that it was wrong!
Now, don’t blame the jeweler or Mr. Bunny for the mix up. It’s really not their fault. I decided a long time ago that when I change my name, I’m going to change from First Middle Maiden to First Maiden Newlast. Mr. Bunny was well aware of this, but it just didn’t enter his mind that my new initials would be LAR instead of LMR.
I tried very hard not to make Mr. B feel bad about the mix up, but I knew I’d have to get the inscription corrected at some point. Today seemed as good a day as any to take it back to the store and ask for it to be redone. It’s a relatively simple process, the jeweler explained. The engraver will burnish out the old engraving and replace it. I think the woman who does engraving at the store must be a little backlogged, though, because it won’t be ready for pickup until Monday or Tuesday! Ack!
On the bright side, I got my engagement ring and my wedding present, which I’ll show you soon, cleaned while I was there, so they’re both sparkly and beautiful!
By the way, I love Mr. Bunny’s ring — and so does he! We picked it out together the same night we picked out mine, but it’s very similar in style to what I always imagined he would want. It’s a celtic knot design in brushed white gold, and since he works at a desk all day long like I do, he never takes it off! (At least, that’s what he tells me … hmmm …
)

The inscriptions we chose out for our engravings were our little secrets that we kept from each other until right before the wedding. Once my ring is fixed, it will say “LER ’Faith’ LAR”. Mr. Bunny said he wanted the ring to say faith for many reasons:
For my mister’s ring, I chose the inscription “We’re a team. 07.03.09″. Mr. Bunny reminds me of that very sentiment if I try to shut him out or avoid telling him how I really feel. I’ve started doing the same for him.
Are you getting your wedding bands engraved? If so, what do they say and why?
