Wedding Marathon

August 22nd, 2009 @ 2:55 pm by Mrs. Mascara

This weekend, we’re off to the first of four weddings (not counting our own) that we have to go to in the next nine weeks. Yes, that means 5 out of 9 weekends will be spent celebrating marriage. Talk about a wedding marathon! And to top it off, 2 of the additional weekends (or weeks, actually) will be spent on our honeymoon (to be blogged about soon, I swear!). It’s going to be a busy two months in the Mascara household!

This weekend, one of our groomsmen will be getting married in the Traverse City, MI area. It’s a barn wedding, so I am very excited! I’ve never been to a barn wedding but if it’s anything like Mrs. Cherry Pie’s, it should be amazing! I have a new appreciation for all of the little details at weddings after I’ve been planning our own. I’ll be sure to take some pictures and share them with you when I get back!

Has anyone else had a wedding marathon? How many weddings in how many weeks? Let’s see what the record is!

Wow, that’s a lot of weddings! I’ve only been to two this year so far, but they were pretty spread out.

You beat me! Starting next weekend I have 4 weddings in 8 weekends, plus a baby shower, christening, bachelorette, bridesmaid’s luncheon and rehearsal dinner. None of which are my own, so at least I just get to be a guest at all the events, other than running the bachelorette. By the time your honeymoon rolls around, you are going to need it! I hope you picked somewhere relaxing! :)

I did 7 weddings in a year once - starting on New Year’s Eve and going through October. We were invited to 9, but three of them were on Columbus Day weekend and we could only attend 1 of them.

Our record was 13 in 6 months… but they were nice and spread out! We got to visit some very cool places - from the Bahamas to Hawaii! Luckily this was before we were planning our own!

We had four weddings in three weeks this June. One weekend was a double header! We were lucky to make it to both.

I’m having two receptions too! 99 people at both - an American wedding over Labor Day weekend, then a UK blessing ceremony on October 3rd after we get back from honeymoon. I am British and my fiance is American, so it made sense for us to have two big parties - not all our guests would have been able to make it otherwise. I’m wearing my dress at both events - I only had one person say this was a bad idea, and my attitude was: haters gonna hate! Wedding dresses are expensive - and anyway, people who can’t make the first ceremony will want to see you wearing your dress again! I say go for it.

Have a great time! No wonder you’ve been so craft and DIY-oriented…it’s like you had next to no weekends to get stuff done! ;-)

In the same time-span that we’re getting married, FIVE of our friends are getting married. Including our wedding, we have six weddings, and I’m a bridesmaid in three of them. Whew! Thankfully they all booked different weekends. :)

My bf and I joke that we are wedding professionals. We’ve been to FIVE weddings this past year alone…and we even declined on two so it would have been SEVEN! We’ve probably attended 15 weddings in the past 2.5 years!!

We were married on July 11 and we’ve had 3 additional weddings since then. We have an “off weekend” next weekend, and then we go on our honeymoon for 2 weeks. When we come back, we have 3 more all in a row.

We’ve had 9 weddings this year, including ours.

Last summer we had 4 weddings and 3 of them were back to back while being geographically spread out. It was a lot of fun being able to celebrate with everyone.

I went to two weddings in one night, but that’s all the weddings I have been to in my adult life, and only 5 total my whole life. I think it’s kind of weird that a 26 year old woman ISN’T going to a wedding every other weekend, when so many I know do! Then again, we have VERY few friends, almost all of whom are already married, and no prospects of anyone else we know tying the knot anytime soon! My wedding will be the first wedding I have ever “stood up” in also!
