In the past year I've lived in Baltimore, MD, Tucson, AZ, Miami, FL and Lancaster, England. In my not so spare time I enjoy planning trips with Mr. D' Orsay, visiting friends and family and crafting like a mo-fo. I also enjoy modern dance classes, rugby and soccer but have been banned by my mother, MOHs, and Mr. D' Orsay from playing till after the wedding. I have an unnatural addiction to cheese and shoes, but love Mr. D' Orsay more than either and can't wait to become Mrs. D' Orsay!

Following Your Vendors

August 23rd, 2009 @ 11:35 am by Mrs. D'orsay

Do you follow your vendors? I do! I recently joined Twitter, and since Twitter pulls your email address to help you find people you know, it naturally pulled my vendors who tweet. Instantly, I was following along with our DJ, Photog and Officiant. I already followed some of their blogs (and Laura and I go to TaeBo together), but this new social media makes me feel more connected than ever.

I enjoy hearing about the other weddings they’re doing, seeing new blog posts, and getting to know more about them on other levels. I also think it helps them get to know me and my style in different and more in-depth ways. For example, when I accidentally made myself look like a superhero, my DJ joked that he could play superhero music for my entrance, and my photographer gave me the contact info for his hairstylist friend!

In fact, I sorta wished all my vendors tweeted and blogged so I could follow along. Except the cake baker… because I don’t know if I could handle tweets about buttercream while dieting.

Do you follow your vendors?

i haven’t jumped on the twitter bandwagon yet… keep thinking about it though. But if i was on it, I would definitely follow my vendors. I think it’s a great way to build a better relationship with them. But I totally agree with the cake baker, no way i could constantly hear about buttercream while trying to do the wedding diet.

peachy

I didn’t officially follow my photographer on Twitter, I just went to his Twitter page and read his updates while he was working on our photos. It made me really anxious because sometimes he said things like “This bride looks really annoyed!” and I wouldn’t know if he was talking about me or not.

I follow my photog and dj. It sort of makes me feel like a stalker, but hey, my dj added me first!

Technically I signed up for Twitter, but I made one post months ago and haven’t been on it since!! I suppose I could check it out and see if they’re there. It would be kind of fun to follow them and see what they’re doing.

I would have never found Weddingbee if I didn’t follow my florist’s blog. I’m forever in debt.

My photographer friended me on facebook. It’s neat to see his other photographs, wedding and non-wedding, but sometimes it’s weird when he posts personal stuff. I’d much prefer he keep a separate professional account!– but I leave him on ’cause I’m a little nosy sometimes.

I blog-stalk (and Facebook-stalk) my photographer like nobody’s business. I feel a little creepy but I adore photography and love checking out other peoples’ weddings. It’s almost like Weddingbee-lite! Haha :)

I only follow one of my vendors on twitter and facebook. I do follow a lot of wedding industry folks though, because of my business.

My photog was the one who found ME on twitter, and it is how I got hooked on his work…and now we send messages back and forth; I love it!
