Mrs. Peony's Picture
Mrs. Peony, New York Age and Occupation: 27, Marketing Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, QA Engineer Engagement Date: June 28, 2007 Wedding Date: April 18, 2008 Venue: The Fountainhead Blogging Since: August 7, 2007 About Me: Both Mr. Peony and I are huge computer nerds, and our conversations usually consist of the latest gadgets, programming languages, and video games. At the same time, I can also be very girly with an obsession with handbags, makeup, and high heels. And art! I've studied studio art extensively, almost majored in art history, and freelance as a web and graphics designer. Mr. Peony and I are having a ball of a time planning a wedding for 250(!) guests, doing our best to infuse our personalities (geeky chic) with the wishes of our very traditional Asian parents.
About Mrs. Peony

I have gone through some internal debates on how to handle my last official recap. After thinking long and hard (that’s what she said), I came across an article in the LA Times where the co-writer of the movie 500 Days of Summer states that “every relationship has a soundtrack.” How true!

Now, I know that everyone has different taste in music, but I personally love the songs we chose for our wedding reception and I feel that each one of them very well represents the many facets of my relationship with Mr. Peony, as well as our relationship with our families and friends.

wedding party intro: “Just Like Heaven” by The Cure

first dance: “For Once in My Life” by Michael Bublé

combined father-daughter mother-son dance: “To Sir, With Love” by Lulu

cake-cutting: “My First, My Last, My Everything” by Barry White

As a result, I have decided to divide our reception into four entries so that I can let the songs and selections from their lyrics tell the story of the Peonies’ reception.

Please play the songs as you go through these photos - they are the soundtrack of our relationship, our wedding, and our lives. Enjoy!

Just Like Heaven

Just Like Heaven (2006 Remastered LP Version) - The Cure

Show me how you do that trick
“The one that makes me scream” she said
“The one that makes me laugh” she said
And threw her arms around my neck
“Show me how you do it
And I promise you I promise that
I’ll run away with you
I’ll run away with you”

Spinning on that dizzy edge
I kissed her face and kissed her head
And dreamed of all the different ways I had
To make her glow

You
Soft and only
You
Lost and lonely
You
Strange as angels
Dancing in the deepest oceans
Twisting in the water
You’re just like a dream

You
Soft and only

Lost and lonely
You
Just like heaven…

What would you say is the soundtrack/song of your life and relationships?

That was great…. I think everyone should post a song to listen to with each post. What kind of mood they’re in, etc.

Your pictures are lovely!

What a great concept! I have no idea what the soundtrack to our relationship would include, but you have started a very interesting conversation in this household! Thanks and congrats!!

so lovely =) how funny that right when i was reading your post, i was listening to my iTunes and the song “Say it Again” by Marie Digby came on…it’s so amazing, if you have not heard it before:

“Thing about you is you know just how to get me
You talk about us like there`s no end in sight
The thing about me is that i really want to let you
Open that door and walk into my life”

Hearing the moviemakers talk about the soundtrack is the reason I saw that movie. Love it! You have some really great choices that really add to your photos and tell your story, and I’m sure — made a great personalization to your day!

I love this!!! Just Like Heaven was a must play for us, not only because we love the song, but one of our guests (who’s name is Kevin) is a huuuge Cure fan and likes to think of the song title as “Just Like Kevin”. We just had to play it for him, too! :)

Genius idea of doing your final recaps this way. It has the same feeling of when you’ve just seen a good movie at the cinema and you stay to listen to the music and watch the credits roll. Gotta love it!
