Mrs. Cupcake's Picture
Mrs. Cupcake, Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 27, Graphic Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Construction Project Manager Engagement Date: February 10, 2007 Wedding Date: September, 2008 Blogging Since: December 7, 2007 Venue: The Desmond Hotel in Malvern, PA About Me: Mr. Cupcake and I hit it off at a Halloween party and immediately began a long-distance relationship. After two years, he moved to my neck of the woods, and a year and a half after that, he proposed at the “place we fell in love.” I am a true perfectionist who enjoys designing and creating more work for myself, so wedding planning is my perfect outlet. Mr. Cupcake and I are both old souls, and we hope to weave that aspect of our personalities into our wedding day.
About Mrs. Cupcake

All photos below by The Wiebners. We purchased a disc of all unedited images from our wedding day, so some post-processing has been done by me for the purpose of sharing the photos with you. Click on any photo to enlarge.

I know you readers often hear apologies from us bees for falling off of the face of the Weddingbee earth for a period of time… I never thought it would take me over 3 months to get back on the recap bandwagon, but now I totally understand how it happens! Life has been extremely busy lately, and I guess I needed to take a breather from writing about our wedding. Sifting through the photos, choosing the “right” ones that will help me tell our story, and racking my brain to remember all of the moments I want to share with you all — it’s safe to say I put a lot of pressure on myself and it has caused me to procrastinate. But I am back, vowing once and for all to finish these recaps before our one year anniversary (which is just around the corner on September 20… how did that happen?!?).  I hope a few of you out there still remember me after all this time… :)

Anyway… where were we? Ah yes… we cut the cake, said a few words of thanks to our guests, and the surprise groom’s cake that I had ordered on the sly was presented to my hubby. Getting everyone on the dance floor to ogle the Red Sox hat cake and sway along to “Sweet Caroline” was the perfect way to really get the dance party started! From that point on, the DJ kept the good tunes a-flowin’, so it was time to put on my dancing shoes. I take my dancing very, very seriously, people.

I found these satin-ish (read: fake satin) teal flats online for $22.95 and ordered them a few weeks before the wedding; they weren’t the comfiest, but I added some Dr. Scholl’s gel pads and voila — extremely cozy dancing shoes!

Mr. C isn’t the dancing machine that I am, so he spent some time chatting and catching up with other non-dancing guests, while I took on the responsibility of keeping the dancing guests happy. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it!

(I’m really quite shy on the dance floor. Can’t you tell?)

I think our guests had an okay time. Clearly, though, I really had to DRAG them onto the dance floor and force them to have a good time…

Well, maybe not. :) They seemed to do a pretty good job of getting out there on their own.

My dad, whom I have mentioned is quite the dancing machine himself (that must be where I get my slick moves!) ;) told me the next day that he hadn’t danced that much or felt that sore in years! I think that’s a pretty good indication that he enjoyed himself.

Momma Cupcake, who is no stranger to the dance floor herself, did a wardrobe change so she’d be more comfortable cutting a rug…

… and thanks to her cousin, our evening continued to be captured on video.

I have to say, there is nothing better than seeing your closest friends and family members dancing, laughing, having fun, and reconnecting with one another. It made all of the planning, stressing, over-thinking and preparing totally, undoubtedly, 100% worth it. Times 7 million.

Oh, and not to worry — my groom did make a few appearances on the dance floor!

Coming up next: a surprise late night snack, flowers taking flight, and some final smooches in the photo booth!

Wow it looks like you guys had so much fun! By the way, Mrs. Cupcake, when I got the latest copy of the Messenger I was so excited to see you there! Is it dorky that I was so happy that we went to the same school? Ha.

You have the best dance photos, Cupcake!

I, like you, took my wedding dancing very seriously. Unfortunately, our photographer (who did an amazing job otherwise) didn’t capture as many dancing photos as I had hoped. My groom danced a lot during the early part of the party (while I was held hostage by talkative friends and family), and then he took a turn playing host while I broke it down the entire second-half of the night. My photog must have stopped taking photos at that time, though, because I’ve got nothing to show for it (except for some friends’ candid shots)! Oh well, at least I had fun!

Welcome back! I ♥ “Sweet Caroline” and agree that it’s the perfect song to get the party going! Your pictures are so vibrant and love, fun, and happiness that I almost feel like I was there. :-)

Since it’s obvious your party was a hit, please consider sharing some of your playlist! For those of us still trying to get organized some tips for songs that pack the dance floor would be great. :-)

Mrs Cupcake… do you by chance have your song list? Your guests look like they’re having such a good time that I would love to know the songs that you played! Please let me know if you have it in a post or know a few of the stellar ones off hand. I love to dance and I want our guests to have just as good of a time!

Your reception seems to have exactly the vibe I’m hoping for, it looks like everyone had a great time!! I’m new here and haven’t read any of your stuff so if you suddenly get a lot of comments on old posts it’s probably me!!

you look like you had a blast, and so did all your guests. This was one of my biggest fears at the wedding (that people wouldn’t dance or enjoy it) and I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Looks like you didn’t either!

While I loved having a small wedding, when I see pictures of a big, totally rockin’ par-tay like this…I am a tad envious! I love that everyone is on their feet - what a fun wedding :)

@DEGirl: Hehe yes I am a U of D Blue Hen :-) I was kinda pissed that our photo in the alumni mag was in the “faded heart” — SO not my taste, but I am a brat like that ;-)

@BlushingBride530: We are lucky to have so many wonderful dancing shots… I actually had a really hard time narrowing them down for the blog because there are so many! It is one reason we hired our photographers — the pics they capture of receptions always have the best spirit to them.

@Mrs. Margarita: Awww thank you, I’m blushing!

@LoriLori and @Gator: I linked to our song list in my post :-) You can find it here: http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/09/02/wedding-music-playlist/ I don’t know exactly what was and wasn’t played from the list that we gave our DJ, as there certainly wasn’t time for every song we requested, but just about every song played was chosen from that list!

@sunsail: Haha, yeah, it was a pretty awful party ;-)

@anvil_chick: The link is in my post :-) They don’t have the teal anymore, but they do have purple: http://www.shopplasticland.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=P90409905&Category_Code=Shoes Just be aware that they are not actually satin, like the description states. I didn’t really care at that point, though :-)
