About Mrs. Sunbeam

A Really Busy Bee

August 25th, 2009 @ 12:27 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

I’m there. I’ve hit the point where I look at my to do list and think, ‘yikes!’ I turned my back on you for one second and you tripled in size! My finals ended Saturday and so my brain power can now be 100% unleashed on to the wedding (outside of work hours, of course!).

Suddenly all the things I planned to do are now must-dos. No excuses. I must decide on the veil. I must order those darn flowers. In the evenings, I no longer have to study so I must work on my DIY projects and stop dreaming up new ones.

It’s really a shock how this compulsive list-maker could end up with so much to do at one month to go, on top of all the to beauty and dance lesson appointments I knew were coming up. Not to mention, I want to get back into my regular blogging habit and share my ideas with all of you! My folly is not that I don’t realize I have x-y-z to do. Some of the back up can be attributed to having finals, but the rest is because I am so indecisive! I know the wedding will happen even if I don’t choose the perfect veil, but that doesn’t make the decision any easier for me, hence the pile up. How do you stop yourself from being so indecisive and make the final call already?!

One big thing I nearly forgot to do was *tell our bridal parties about our wedding day plans*! Oye! I just realized they had little or no idea that we have them booked for the entire day, mostly because of all the photo ops we have planned. I just emailed them a timeline of our day this morning - hopefully they won’t be too shocked when they see it and it won’t interfere with any plans.

Anyone else completely shocked at their to-do list right now? Have you been working slow and steady or is there a mound slowly forming on paper?

i’m a list maker. it helps organize and calm my nerves. sometimes you think you have a million things to do and then you write it down and it’s only five. it’s a stress release! plus it helps me to remember tasks to do!

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I am only 11 days away and still think cannot stop considering more DIY projects. Although I made many decisions right away, I have never stopped reconsidering them. I never even made a list! How scary is that?

I am soooo organized that it keeps me sane. I made a 4 month at a time calendar that I put in the closet so Bf and I can keep our lives on track instead of going ‘uhhh don’t we have something going on this day?’

speaking of calendars - what program is that calendar??

@hokaroni: It’s my Ical! I had to uncheck 10 other calendars I have going on to get that screen grab (school, work, travel, personal stuff….)!

I totally feel your pain… I am SUPER organized and a compulsive list-maker, and yet I somehow found myself at about 1 month going “holy crap… how did this list get so long?!” Now at less than 2 weeks out I’ve broken my entire to-do list out into little daily chunks and put them all on the calendar, which makes me feel a little more sane!

I’m a compulsive list-maker as well - but there comes a point where the list outshadows what’s actually on there, as in you must do this! Plus I’m also extremely indecisive so I tend to get freaked out close to a due date. So, I feel you Miss Sunbeam!

oh, btw congrats on the finishing finals! that must be a relief!

I feel you Miss Sunbeam! I am in the home stretch myself and everyday seems like crunch time! I too have my gmail task list up and get all giddy each time I get to mark something off! List maker to list maker - you are organized and you will get it all done!!!!

I’ve yet to make a list, and it’s 3 months out, so instead I lie awake making mental lists. Maybe it’s time to put pen to paper.

By reading all of these posts about being down to the last minute, it just reassures me that I’m not crazy for doing everything 9 months out!! I’m really getting to enjoy everything right now because I can do a little at a time.

Good luck getting everything done!! If you need help deciding between things let us know =]

I made a list, but then had a panic attack and had to delete it. Lol. Now I just sort of do it month-by-month. It was too overwhelming otherwise.

I worked at a slow and steady pace and thought I was way ahead of things! The problem is the closer I get, the more little details I think of! Like the other day, as FI was moving his stuff into our house, I saw the CUTEST picture of him as a child! Now I want to find a picture of me at a corresponding age and frame both and put on the guest book table along with a framed picture of us both! It seems like the more I get done, the more I want to do!

Oh I feel ya! I’m experiencing the opposite situation. Right now I’m ending my summer break trying to get back into the grad school thing! Over the last few days, I’m having a huge problem getting back into research gear! Good luck with the list and the finals!

I think it’s inevitable for all DIY brides. As much as I’ve been working on this wedding thing slowly and steadily, I can’t help but feel like I got slapped in the face with it three weeks out. Good luck!

Ah yes! I thought I had made a ton of progress, but when we hit two weeks, I feel like I am getting so overwhelmed with projects that I really want to do, but have no time to finish! I tried to prioritize last night, and I have a solid list of 37 things that I absolutely have to do before this wedding. The other 43 things will maybe or maybe not get done…

Oh yes! I am a list maker but even though I have worked a lot on all the DIY the list still feels like Mount Everest and I am still in base camp :(

We’re slow and steady, but still seven months out. I’m such a to-do list keeper. I have three calendars: Work Outlook, desk calendar and weekly planner.

On the to do list currently: address/send out stds, figure out hotel(s), figure out DJ/narrow down, register! (Hopefully all in the next month…)

I’m also a list maker. I love being able to check things off/cross them off. It is daunting though when there’s a long list and I can’t cross off all of them!
