The Accessories

August 25th, 2009 @ 11:59 am by Mrs. Cowboy Boot

I’m stuck. I just can’t seem to find a pair of earrings that wants to work with my accessories, that I like, and that feels unique. In short, I’m looking for a pair of earrings that isn’t necessarily bridal. That said, I also want a pair of earrings that is bridal. Now you’re confused, right? Me too.

Here’s a snapshot of my accessories as they stand now (the floral, silk belt from J.Crew is still pending until I can try it with my dress):

P10100303

Vintage Clutch, Muscari Designs Hair Flower, J.Crew Belt, and Kate Spade Shoes

Here are the earrings I have already tried that didn’t work:

Crystal Fireball and Pearl Drop Earrings from Carolee ($40)

Floral Crystal and White Simulated Pearl Teardrop Pierced Earrings from Carolee ($75)

Large CZ Flower Stud Earrings from Carolee ($95)

Crystal Cluster Earrings by Etsy seller K. Garner Designs ($32)

As of now, I have a pair of cream- and blush-colored pearl clusters on silver. One of my maids of honor has offered to lend me a pair of platinum-and-diamond hoops with a small dangle charm, and I also have these (below) by Etsy seller Jurgita Handmade.

Luka Swarovski Crystal Earrings ($27)

I’m not swooning over any of them, but then again, I haven’t had the full outfit on to give it a whirl. I won’t get this opportunity until a few days before the wedding so I’m prepared to come armed with plenty of options.

If I had all the money in the world (or a budget over $100), I might go for something from the antique store from which I bought my wedding band.

Diamond and Pear-Shape Aquamarine ($2,875)

14K YG Rose Cut Diamond Flower ($1,195)

10K YG & Rose Cut Diamond Cluster ($275)

So, hive, I turn to you for advice. First, do I wear silver or gold in terms of color? Pearl or faux-diamond (as I can’t afford the real thang, unless I borrow)? Any earrings you’d suggest that you’ve seen?

My initial feeling is that yellow gold with faux pearls would be stunning. I don’t have a specific pair in mind at this second, but I’ll keep my eye out for you! I love love love your other accessories, too!

I love the ones from etsy seller Jurgita Handmade. I would definitely say gold over silver and pearl over diamond, given the warm tones of your hair and the colors used for your make-up trial. I’ll be on the lookout for anything that might work for you!

It seems like golds would look great with your skin tone. I’m not sure why these didn’t work out or if you have another accessory, such as a bracelet, that they didn’t match? I think there are some beautiful choices in there, but if you’re not happy you could always scour eBay for an low-budget vintagey find. (That’s always my fall-back!) Love those pear-shaped aquamarines btw! Absolutely gorgeous! I wonder if you could have an Etsy seller make you some like that? They would definitely fit all of your criteria.

Oh yeah - and pearls would look great with the sleeves - made sash for your dress! That is - if I am remembering correctly!

You might check out Erin Gallagher. Great stuff with reasonable prices for the quality. Also, you can design your own (either gems or pearls, gold or silver) if her already designed pieces don’t work. http://www.egjewelry.com

I love the crystal cluster earrings- I think they’d look nice w/ everything else you have shown. Plus they are bridal without being “too” bridal. Best wishes!

For sure the Crystal Cluster earrings! I love the smokey, peachy, earth yet sparkliness of them. Like Katie says, not “too bridal” or typical. Plus, since you’re not wearing a veil, add a little badda-bling. Everything else is either a bit too dainty. Maybe?

I just swooned over your accessory picture. I vote gold. There is something more romantic about it. Have you checked anthro?? I was on their website the other day and there were a ton that fit what your looking for and your budget:

Judging from all your other accessories, if you could find something rose gold in color you’d be set!! Other than that I’d go with something in gold. I really like the cluster earrings on a hoop from etsy.

@laf0749: Thanks for the link! Her stuff is really pretty and fairly affordable. I love the Grace, the Rose and the Janet. Maybe I’ll have to try some of her stuff out.

I personally like the Luka Swarovski Crystal Earrings out of the ones you have. Both gold and silver will match your attire so you should find something that speaks to you as they say… perhaps Mr CB can surprise you with an on the day wedding gift (this way you won’t have to make yet another decision and you’ll feel so special in them because he gave them to you - your BMs could hint for you of course)

I’m so in love with that clutch. I think the gold earrings would work the best. Oooh, or if you could get your hands on some rose gold earrings. That would be so sweet and pretty.

I used Faeried Treasures on Etsy for earrings for my bride’s maids gifts, she’s very affordable $10-30 and similar to the styles you posted …

What about some pearl cluster earrings? I’m thinking none of these work for you because they all dangle from your ears. I wish I could show you the ones I have that were my grandmother’s… They’re kind of like these:

http://www.funpearls.com/products/3_4mm_seed_pearl_cluster_flower_Clip_Earring_2_colors-92-0.html

I found these, but they’re $780. As one of my favorite bees would say, Le Sigh.

And finally I found some. Whew!

@Miss Cowboy Boot: Happy to try to help! She’s having a sale this weekend, and her sales tend to be very good (e.g. 25-40% off). I designed my earrings as well as earrings for my bridesmaids and moms and was extremely happy with the quality of all the pieces. I know it increases the price a bit, but the higher quality stones (the $40 ones) are incredibly sparkly and subtle at the same time. Best of luck! You’ll look beautiful no matter what you choose!

I agree with most, yellow gold would go better. I feel like J. Crew has a lot of that gold and pink combo going on this season. But you’ve probably checked there already.

My immediate reaction was pearl studs or a cluster of pearls - which would go with the center of your flowers. I see that your choices lean towards a drop earring but maybe that’s wy you need to try something different from the ones you have? Just a thought… bring a lot and thry them all on with the dress. Great clutch and shoes, btw.

Regina B inspired designs for MUCH LESS and they are all customizable! Check out Dana Saylor designs. Her shop is actually on etsy. I think the chandelier earings with some faux pearls in an off white or champagne would be just gorgeous!!!

I think gold with champagne stones or pearls will compliment your look perfectly! However, should you fall in love with something in silver, that will look equally as glamourous.

I also vote for the gold with pearl. But I don’t have any specific recommendations for you. I don’t pay much attention to earrings since I don’t wear them!

I LOVE the crystal cluster earrings…the color is gorgeous, and I think that they could be used again at another time…which is always a plus in my book!

ALLLLIIII — Maybe I can assist here and be the borrowed thingee. I bought a opera length necklace of amazing 9MM pearls a long time ago at an estate sale. I never wore them as it had to be on a simple dress given the length. So a year or so ago, I went to a cool jewelry/wine shindig to raise money for a friend’s niece…and LOVED her jewelry — not so unlike the antique ones you like. I had her undo the pearls and make a double necklace with gold and smokey topaz…a bracelet and a whole bunch of earrings — with various stones…So now I have to figure how to friggen scan them…please send me an email address at lesliethemuse@aol.com
