I am so excited to share my bachelorette experience with you! My lovely bridesmaids, knowing that nothing delights me more than dressing up and eating sugary sweets, planned a ’50s themed dress up party for my last night out (or, in this case, in) as a single lady. I scoured my vintage collection the week before the party, excitedly putting outfits together for myself, and for the dress up rack for the guests.
I put my best housewife ensemble together and headed to the party. I was greeted by many of my closest friends, all decked out in vintage splendor!

Here I am with a “girl next door”. As a vintage clothing store owner, she was probably the most prepared for the party!
She also coordinated her outfit to the theme and colors of our wedding, which I thought was adorable. You may remember that the invitation suggested the following costume inspiration: The Good Housewife, The Girl Next Door, The Scandalous Diva, and The Naughty Pin Up. Let’s take a look around the party and see what we can find!
Some housewives…

Aprons, aprons, everywhere!

A girl next door…

A scandalous diva…

Who later morphed into a naughty pin up! Ooh la la!

Ahoy, a sailor!

Helloooo, nurse!

I tried to put my best June Cleaver pose on, hamming it up to the extreme before I changed out of the apron. Here I am trying to pass these lovely treats off as my own creation. I should have at least dusted some flour onto my brow!
The girls are enjoying the champagne punch that the Taffette of honor supplied- we were trying out the recipe for our signature drink! It was delicious.

Oh, hello! Would you like a cookie to have with your punch?

Next it was time to put on my favorite vintage dress ever! I may have worn this as my wedding dress if Mr. Taffy hadn’t already seen it.

After a few more cocktails, homemade cupcakes, and other tasty treats, it was time to play some games and open gifts. The Taffettes had grilled Mr. Taffy about some things prior to the party, which they used to make a quiz to embarrass me.
The game was also a drinking game—only for the bride. For every question, I had to answer what I thought Mr. Taffy would say. If I was wrong, I would do a shot. Knowing my low tolerance for alcohol (even though their trust that I would answer all of the questions correctly was in place, I’m sure!
) Mr. Taffy and Taffette Miss K hatched a plan to keep me from getting sick later in the night. Mr. Taffy, who had his party later that week, was unfortunately unable to avoid such a fate.
Ladies, I present to you: the thimble shot!

It’s a good thing they thought of this, because I had to have about nine thimbles full before the game was over. I would not have made it through nine full size shots!
After thoroughly embarrassing me, they showered me with gifts—mostly awesome underthings. I am a complete lingerie fanatic, so I was very grateful! Instead of showing you those pictures, I’ll show you the most practical gift of the evening:

The bucket, rubber gloves, plunger and dust pan were meant to be a gag gift. Little did they know, I would put that bucket to use just a few days later when Mr. Taffy asked for it after his party. Mmm hmmm. That bucket was next to our bed the whole night after his bachelor party. Ughhh. As gross as it was, I was grateful for that bucket!
After gifts, we played a game with balloons. It was sort of like truth or dare- there was a question or prompt on a piece of paper inside each balloon. After popping it, you had to answer the question or do what the prompt asked.
Getting ready…

After a while, I wasn’t the only embarrassed person in the room!

I wish I remembered the paper slip that prompted this reaction!

After the game, I switched costumes again. When else will I be able to wear a fun vintage wedding dress and veil?

We set up the camera for a group shot:

Then we raided the dress up rack!

Did I mention that this was a slumber party?
The remaining guests put on these fun vintage slips & nighties.

We had so much fun, and thanks to the thimble, I was able to function the next morning. I couldn’t have asked for a night that was better suited to my personality.
