About Mrs. Powder Puff

Love, Sweet Love: The Details

August 26th, 2009 @ 2:52 pm by Mrs. Powder Puff

Before we get to the really fun stuff (i.e. the rockin’ reception!!!), I thought I’d show you all a few details from our day. Some of these things I’ve blogged about, and some I haven’t. This Powder Puff has still got some surprises up her sleeve!

My beautiful bouquet. This was a surprise to me on our wedding day, since I had basically given no direction to the florist, just our overall vision. She ran with it and did an absolutely beautiful job!

1

My shoes. These babies were comfortable at first, but after a few hours of portraits and standing through the ceremony, I was ready for these to be off my feet, STAT! Before our cocktail hour I changed into a pair of super cute flip flops from my bestie, J.Crew.

2

I love the ring shots that our photographer came up with!

3

4

5

6

Our Quaker Marriage Certificate that I designed and had printed through Zazzle was a huge hit!

7

8

Place cards. These were the bane of my existence in the days leading up to the wedding, not to mention the day of. My anal-retentive self wanted them set up in alphabetical order, but since my bridesmaids and I were the ones frantically doing it, there just wasn’t time. You know what they say about the best laid plans.

9

I loved how our centerpieces looked. My only beef was that they weren’t as large as I had originally imagined. But what can you do, right? Our table numbers were cute little things courtesy of Martha Stewart.

10

11

I love the lineup of the guys’ Oberons.

12

A little sign I made (inspired by the fabulous Whitney from Darling Dexter) that was hung over our gift table.

13

One of my favorite items was my great-grandmother’s handkerchief. Mama Powder Puff gave it to me the day before the wedding, and I wrapped it around my bouquet to carry with me.

14

See it peeking out? With the sweet little pink flowers? My great-grandmother was an AMAZING woman who passed away when I was fifteen years old. It was so special to have something of hers to carry, and I hope to someday give it to my daughter on her wedding day.

There you have it! The little details of our day. Next, we enter our reception with a vengeance, and get our first dance on!

I have the same shoes!!! I’m so excited about them - I actually bought them before I even got my dress, I just saw them and thought they were the most perfect wedding shoes ever. I anticipate the pain of them, though, and have the cutest pink ballet slippers to put on for the reception!! Your wedding looks amazing…

Wow! I love, love, LOVE your bouquet. I gave my florist the same freedom you gave yours…I’ll be ecstatic if my results are even 1/2 as beautiful as your bouquet!

Were your shoes by Caparros? I seriously almost got those shoes! I also thought they were crazy comfy in the store, which is why I seriously considered them. I ended up going with something else, so I’m glad I didn’t get them based on comfort level only to find that didn’t last all day.

But they’re fabulous looking shoes, so I’m sure it was worth it for a few hours:)

This is the problem with reading WB after my own wedding: I looooove the marriage certificate idea, especially since the ceremony was private, followed by a larger reception. Curses!

(But gorgeous. :p)

@missvintage: I purchased pre-cute place cards from Paper Source, and then stamped them and wrote everyones names on them. It seriously took FOREVER!
@Miss Chapstick: Yes! I bought them because they were comfy in the store as well. Not so much the day of. But yes, they did look faboo! :)

Such sweet details. How much baby’s breath did you order, I’m considering the same for my centerpieces and I’d like to get an idea for how much I should order per table.

@leenie: We didn’t do the flowers ourselves, our florist did them, so I have no clue how many stems of baby’s breath she got. I’d say a lot! Maybe do a trial, and see on average how much it takes for one centerpiece and go from there. :)

our centerpieces came out very similar to yours (we were using some type of baby breath that it’s called ‘little clouds’ in mexico), and at first i thought they should have been bigger too!!! but all your details are lovely and your bouquet it’s fabulous!

I love the quaker marriage cert. My grandmother is quaker and my other grandparents are Schwenkfelder, so we get to have ours printed by her church. I’m so excited to tie together my family’s history with our wedding day!
