Cake Toppers

August 27th, 2009 @ 3:31 pm by Mrs. Chick

Even though we’re not sure if we are going to have a traditional cake or have towers of cupcakes, we are still looking at cake toppers because that’s one thing I definitely want, regardless of which dessert we choose.

I love the graphic letters on this cake. It makes it seem more vintage and less cheesy. I think I’ve had a hard time finding cute cakes because they so often border on cheesy-dom!

I also like the idea of having a monogram topper. Since both of our names start with “A”, this will be… wait for it… a piece of cake! Sigh.

Love the monogram one! I’m going with a rhinestone R for our new last name. It’s a theme I’ve incorporated throughout the wedding.

I found some cool stuff on etsy.com

And I love the etsy seller “bubbletime”. She did our cake toppers based on some clay snowbirds of hers I had seen on the site.

They are super cute!

We’re still deciding, but have a few ideas. One is a Christmas ornament (but it kind of clashes with our colors), and one is a figurine we got as an engagement gift. It fits with our colors, but the bride and groom don’t look anything like us, and it is very heavy. We might not do a topper, and just decorate the cake table with the latter, and a matching “happily ever after” sign I have. I LOVE both cakes, the pink one is beautiful and neither are cheezy (i’m with you on anti-cheese!)

We went with sugarpaste anemonies and peonies… but that monogram topper is lovely. So sweet and simple!

Those are both really cute. We were planned on topping our cake with some flowers that matched the bouquets.

I love them!! We are actually going a completely ridiculous route- we bought a Scully and Moulder to place atop our cupcake tree.

THis has been my nemisis! Our cake will be decorated simply with swirly fuge frosting (just like gramma used to make) and finding the right topper took MONTHS!

Here’s what I finally did, and love:

It’s say “Mr. and Mrs. Karma”. Perfection at last!

Ugh! The dang cake topper! We have gone round and round on what to have. I’ve considered the classic bride and groom, flowers, monograms, single letter, and other non-traditional items like a horse shoe (for luck and happiness) or figurine bulldogs (we are both Mississippi State alumni)….but no matter what the item, we still can’t decide. Nothing seems to be more than just ok. Better luck with your decision!

I like the last topper, but more for the floral detail (and that AWESOME CAKE!!). I’ve seen a few monogram toppers, and while they are beautiful, im partial to flower toppers

The first one is an adorable cake! Our cake topper is the man and woman riding a bicycle from Pixie in Paris :)

My cake topper is a little wire tree from etsy seller “byapryl”. I love it, it’s so cute! :)
