Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Mrs. Poodle

… Mr. Poodle’s ring!!

So before I show you the ring, here’s a little fact: Yesterday, my MOH boarded a plane to go study English for 6 months in Colorado. She was extremely nervous because it is going to be her first time there (all alone, too) but she’s REALLY excited about the experience, and the fact that after I move, both of us will be decently close to each other. She will spend the holidays with us and will help us with all the massive DIY projects for the wedding. She rocks, I know!

So, before she left, she handed me “Mr. Poodle’s future precious”! I’m SO EXCITED it’s already finished!!

As you know, it all began with this idea: I happened to pick up two pieces of wood on our Patagonia trip. After random conversations about other options for our rings’ materials we decided that we could keep that trip in our memories forever by incorporating the wood into the rings.

You know the drill - If your name happens to be Mr. Poodle, RUN away from the computer AHORA, and DO NOT read on.

I asked my MOH for help, and after discussing how to treat the wood and options to get the ring engraved (just like I wanted), she started sketching the ring and doing weird tests on the wood. I wanted something really simple, clean, and not so big.

After Several Hours of Labor, We Bore... :  wedding rings Anillo  { These are not very good pictures, but if you try hard, you can see the ring getting its shape }

The process was not so long, but she did work a lot! smile014 How cool is it of her to charge us just for the materials? Well, OK, in this case it’s just for Mr. Poodle’s ring, because we are buying rings for each other as a surprise for the wedding day.

But hey, how could I not show the hive this??

After Several Hours of Labor, We Bore... : wedding rings Anillo1 { I just love the way it ended up looking!! She engraved the “Spanglish” words I wanted on the inside.
You can see the Spanish part at the end “por siempre” = forever
}
After Several Hours of Labor, We Bore... :  wedding rings Anillo2  { Because of the nature of Mr. Poodle’s job, we decided really early on that he needed a necklace for his ring, so he can wear it around his neck while working - I choose this thin chain because he’s not into jewelry at all, so I wanted something really light }

I am so excited!! Now I’m thinking about options to build this “anillito” a house. Remember this amazing project by Mrs. Gloss? It could be a cool option! I’ll be making houses for our rings (my MOH is going to email me the size for mine). But there’s no rush—I want to find the perfect project for ring holders. smile014

Are your rings a bit non conventional? What do they look like?

It’s awesome Poodle! I’ve seen a lot of similar designs. But way cooler that your MOH made it and with wood that has meaning to you. I’m not really sure my ring is non conventional. However, I decided to go with a pearl my mom got in Hawaii since that is where we are getting married. I picked out a setting for it to go in from an Oahu jeweler. I’m going to wear my diamond e-ring on my right hand after we get married.

Your friend did and amazing job on the ring, such great craftmanship….similar to your own talents Ms. Poodle :) Looks like birds of a feather do flock together. I think your MOH deserves an equally cool thank you gift and great BIG HUG!!

Now that is an awesome ring! Very much like something my FI would want. No diamonds for my FI, he said it’s just not him at all—I agree. HAHA

I live in Colorado Miss Poodle–where is your MOH going to be at?

Oh! Another idea! Once she learns English then she can have a fun website—click a button on the main page and it takes you to the page and it’s all in Spanish and click another button on the main page and it is all listed in English! Now she could sell to anyone who can read either of those languages!! Fantastic!!
