Mrs. Frozen Yogurt's Picture
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.

I spent a long time contemplating what our “wedding colors” would be. It seemed whenever I tried to describe what I envisioned for the big day, people just wanted me to get to the point and would ask, “what are your colors?” The problem was, I had no idea.

Was I a glamorous bride? A vintage bride? A nautical bride? All of these sounded wonderful to me, and each with their very own corresponding color palette. It was so hard to choose. But I did it!

I decided on green (think sage), cream and grey.

As you may notice, my inspiration board above, which was totally self created, does contain some other colors. I decided that I must wear blue shoes as my something blue. Because really, when else will I have an excuse to buy a pair of Manolos? Thankfully, I befriended the owner of a discount designer store. I told her what I was searching for, and she said she would personally send me an email if said shoe entered her store. How great is that? Only, I can’t rely on just that, so I have to search eBay, Off Saks, and Neiman’s Last Call. Between now and April 2010, I’m certain that my feet will be comfortably, or maybe not so comfortably, sitting in a pair of Manolos.

What inspired you to choose your wedding color pallete? What colors did you choose?

I am in love! I have a similar wedding palette as well! :) Our colors are ivory, shades of blue, with green as an accent color. I’m wearing blue shoes as well, because I had to have it has my something blue! My wedding is May 1, 2010. It’s nice to find someone who has a wedding like mine!

Great inspiration board! When it comes to colors - I’m taking an interesting approach I suppose. I’m starting with his favorite color (red) and building off of that. I really love red and acqua today … and I’m attempting to make it softer with a pale yellow. The funny part? We’re not engaged yet … and he’s totally on board with it … even asked if we could add blue to the red.

i love your color palette! i also want to do grey, but every time i say i want grey bridesmaids dresses, i can tell people are reacting like “grey, really?!” inside their heads, but try to cover it. my fiances family just can’t see my vision. i think grey is so elegant, and can be really warm if you do it right. have you been getting any of that? what color will your bridesmaids dresses be?

@Bellini: Yes! I definitely have been getting that! I was at Nordstrom with a BM looking for grey dresses (their dresses will be grey), and the sales girl didn’t know I was the bride and said, she’s making you wear grey??? I was like, um..yeah, that’s me, and I am. I find myself trying to justify it, but hey, I like grey and I think it’s classic, so why not?? People use chocolate brown and black, why hate on grey?

Actually I think my colors have been the hardest thing to decide. I’m considering just NOT deciding. The walls of our venue are teal and purple (it’s a winery), and I bought some cool teal shoes the other day. But beyond that, it’s a big ::SHRUG:: !!! :)

I have a bunch of colors but they go oh so well together. Originally my colors were orange and Champagne. I later added Brown- I wanted the guys in brown tuxes. Later on after that I added Hot Pink. My Mom was diagnosed with BC in March- So I added that for her. So now my colors- Ladies in champagne dress, Guys in brown, And pink and orange daisey- Love It!

Love your choices… especially the Manolos! I fell in love with a fuchsia/taupe combo featured in MS Weddings. I softened it a bit with hints of chocolate brown and antique gold.

@Miss Frozen Yogurt: The first time I saw grey bridesmaids’ dresses was in Pengy’s wedding, and I loved them! And grey dresses are totally rewearable. Let the flowers and details pop with color!

Miss Fro Yo. I love the shoes. I might have to get me a pair. I still haven’t decided if I want them to be my something blue but you make a good point. Now would be a great reason to get them.

Gray and ivory is so classy. And I love the splash of blue thrown in.
