More Bridesmaid Color Decisions

August 28th, 2009 @ 3:47 pm by Miss Chick

I love how in this wedding, the bridesmaids’ dresses are the same color as the bride’s wedding gown, just shorter. This makes me feel better about perhaps picking light pewter as the BM dress color.

Aren’t the light pewter shoes darling with the cream/white dresses, or what?! I never even thought of that color combination!

Would you consider having white/cream bridesmaids dresses?

I would have considered it if wasn’t so prone to spilling things/getting dirty (why I got an off white dress!). In the “olden days” bridesmaids all wore white (to confuse kidnappers or evil spirits so they wouldn’t know which was the bride)- I say go for it! You can do whatever you want to anyway these days!

I wanted white/cream bridesmaid dresses but changed my mind when I went with a knee length bridal dress. I think it looks great!

It looks beautiful!

I also like the succulents in the bouquets- I would definitely end up planting them afterwards and smiling at the memories every time I watered them.

I love that color combo. I think it makes everything really clean and elegant. FWIW, my grandma had white BM dresses in 1948 and the photos look fantastic, even after all these years!

I’m sorry, but as an avid follower of all the bees, past and present, your’s is quite boring. you really haven’t been talking about anything really of your wedding or plans. just one or two sentences and a bunch of pictures.
It hasn’t been quite as entertaining as the other bees.

@melinda: Ouch! Sorry to hear you feel that way! Well, the posts Weddingbee have been posting from me are archival posts from my personal blog. They will get more personal soon when they are caught up to my present posts.

However, I disagree with you to some extent. The pictures and ideas I post are my inspirations for my wedding, which means I will be using some to most of them for my wedding. While it’s true some of my posts do not have as much text some do have a fair amount of text if you look back on them, in particular the recent origami post. I think some bloggers’ styles are to write more than others, but both forms are acceptable.

miss chick - i think your posts rock! i LOVE the chandelier post earlier, and cant’ wait to see if that works out. and personally i think all your pictures make the blog more enjoyable. it’s easier to see what you are envisioning for your big day.

and i don’t see why if someone didn’t like your postings, they would find it necessary to say anything at all. i’m sure everyone has favorite bees and not so favorite bees - just skip over the not so favorite bees posts. someone else probably really enjoys them.

Aww, thank you Jess! You are so sweet. Yes, I agree, if you don’t like my posts, you can say it in a constructive way, or else just skip them…
Thanks again:) I needed to hear that!

I would. Those dresses are beautiful. But I’m sure my bridesmaids would be set against the idea.

Miss Chick-
I wouldn’t worry about it. I don’t like to read a lot of the texts I’m more into the pictures. So I like. Btw… where are the BM dresses from?

I thought about having an entirely white wedding (like P Diddys White Party lol) and even having guests wear all white - I just didn’t want to seem bridezilla-ish and be telling ppl what they had to wear. Just thought it would be awesome!

Ps - I heart blogs with lots of pics!!!!!!

Well, as a bride who chose grey dresses, I’d say I’m still partial to your light pewter ones. :-)

Mander - check out this ‘whites and lights’ wedding. It looks pretty doable since men and women can wear khakis; definitely not a bridezilla scenario.

Personally, I’m not a fan, but then again, I like contrast. While I don’t like this particularl look, I think Pewter is actually just the right amount of contrast for me to be on side. This wedding is just tooooo white for me.

Hey Miss Chick! Don’t worry about those who don’t like what you post. You can’t please everyone!

I for one love your posts. I too am getting married in April 2010!

I really like the bouquets in your pictures!

Ooo i really like that look! it’s elegant and chic.

However, I wouldn’t do it simply because I want to be the bride in white. It’s *my* color that day and I want to be selfish =]. But it’s absolutely lovely! I can see how a light gray would be really cute too. And wow, i just LOVE their dresses!

People who are negative and don’t like your posts can “buzz off” and go do something “not boring” like play with fire…no worries Miss Chick!

Seriously I want one of those dresses. I hope they’re not like $800 like the ones Ms. Poodle showed us that I fell in love with! =]

I love your posts Miss Chick! I am pumped because thus far we are kinda having the same ideas. AND guess what, my bridesmaids are wearing ivory dresses. I was so indecisive about dresses until I seen simple strapless party dresses at Target and knew that I wanted ivory dresses. They are timeless, chic, and lovely! Keep it coming Miss Chick! :)

I love the way it looks! actually I posted an “inspiration pic” of BM dresses in cream I just loved them, but 3 of my girls already loved the “purple” idea, if they love my first idea, works for me too! hehe

ohh! and we LOVE you!! :)
don’t pay attention to people that need to hide their identity to post something, they are just not worth it! - There’s always a nice/ polite way to communicate interest over something or a constructive critic (if that’s what she meat while writing that)

It looks nice, but I’d be worried about spilling something (I’m a little klutzy when it comes to food). My only concern with the cream/white is that when I looked some of the pictures, I couldn’t even tell which girl was the bride - I could only tell when I could see her long dress. I think that pewter would be enough of a difference so you can distinguish, but that they’re all light.

@EngineerBride: So true! I think pewter is a good compromise too.

@melinda: I have to disagree - finding inspiration is a major part of the wedding planning process. I think Miss Chick’s inspiration posts have been great - especially the last two, which have been interesting ideas that I’d never seen before and really liked. Besides, since most of the bees’ first posts (except their intro) are from their archives, they’re usually still finding their style. She hasn’t even been on Weddingbee for two weeks - give her a chance!
@Miss Chick: Keep up the good work Chickie! :) Haha…I call my friends Chickie all the time, and this time it kinda works! :P

We actually almost went with a very very light tan color - then it turned out, it only came in Jersey material. And, while I love my bridesmaids, several of them were uncomfortable about the “clingyness” of Jersey!

I like how the dresses are in a similar color family, and you’re right - those shoe colors are dynamite!

Miss Chick - I love your inspiration…if someone doesn’t like your posts, they can just hit “next” and see a new post…and with your wedding not until April, you are really in the inspiration stage! I am getting married in May, and it is just too soon to be actually in the midst of creating everything at this point…I love that you have so many pictures to illustrate your ideas!

I don’t think I would put my BMs in cream or white… like a pp said: It’s my day to wear white!
As for the drama surrounding the “boring” posts- I highly disagree!! I actually find the inspiration posts more helpful than the personal stories, etc. I’ve added tons of Bee inspirations to my wedding day! Keep up the good work Miss Chick :)
