The Hair: Part 2

August 30th, 2009 @ 6:05 pm by Mrs. Beagle

I went in for a second trial and Jeanie was as lovely as ever. On the actual day of, the curls will be set longer so that everything doesn’t just fall out as soon as I take my hair down (which was kind of the case after the trial, thanks to Texas weather). Please note, it is really hard to take pictures of the back of your own head.

I’m going to play around with it a bit between now and the wedding to figure out if I want it all down or if I want some up/some down. (I figured I could just throw in some curlers and try out a few different styles… it won’t be perfect, but it’s better than paying for a third hair trial). Jeanie also suggested that if I decide to trim my hair between now and then, to also add in more layers because it will accentuate the curls.

Remember that hairpiece I was going to work on? This is what it looks like (hmmm, that pomander looks familiar :) ):

It’s actually a flower-type fabric thing connected to a really cheap headband. I’ll post a tutorial about it soon, promise! In the meantime, you can visit this tutorial by Heart of Light, which was my inspiration! Although I love the headband, and the fact that it will keep my hair out of my face, I’m concerned that it will be too much combined with my chunky necklace and bolero I plan on wearing. And, I just realized I never posted about it, so here you go:

I ordered it from Etsy seller Pendred Keller and I luuuurve it. A lot. I can really see myself wearing it after the wedding- yay! Here’s a close up (please excuse my skin imperfections):

I think I’m becoming obsessed with all things purple.

If I don’t end up wearing both at the reception. I will end up wearing them for our day-after photo shoot (which I decided to do instead of bridals). I think it would look cute if I wore the headband with my hair up in a bun…. sort of like this.

So what do you think, are both items too much? Is anyone else having a hard time figuring out their accessories?

I don’t have the best sense of style, honestly, but I’d leave off the necklace. Those big beads are almost as big as your eyes and with your pretty big eyes and gorgeous long hair, I’d suggest just wearing the hairpiece. But if you like both, go for it!

Although both items are lovely I agree that they seem to distract from the impact that each one has on it’s own. I think it would depend on your gown but the bead seem a bit too chunky and the headpiece is soooooooo romantic! So IMHO I would go for one look or the other but not both.

You’ve got great taste either way!!

I love them together. If you feel that they are “you” then go for it.

Your hair turned out beautifully! My personal opinion is that the necklace is little bit too much with the hair piece. I would go with something more delicate.

The blue and violet look great against your hair color. Both pieces of accessories go well together as well, but have you tried them on with your dress to see how well they really pair up?

i think they look good together too, but i like ana’s idea of trying them on with the dress to make sure.

i’d say do without the necklace because i personally find it distracting.
you look so regal just with your gorgeous hair color and the hair piece is so apt!

try it with yr dress for a complete look, and take pictures with/without the necklace so you can decide?

I actually think they complement each other very nicely :) Have you posted a pic of your bolero to see how that fits with the other accessories?

You look beautiful! I love the hair piece! Personally, I would go without the necklace, because I feel like it is competing with the simple beautfy of your face, hair, and hair piece.
But either way you will look amazing!

Thanks for all the comments and compliments! Y’all are so sweet. :) I have a huge crush on the necklace so I think if I had to choose between one or the other…. the necklace would win. I showed the hairpiece to my sister/MOH last night and I think she might be interested in wearing it if I don’t…. hopefully it will make an appearance on someone at my wedding!

I think the flower and the necklace look BEAUTIFUL together! But, if you are going to choose just one…you’re right, that necklace is fab! Love your hair down, Miss B, your long, soft curls are tres romantique :)

I really like the necklace - it looks great!! Also, I think I’m a big fan of your hair down - it’s a great length. I might suggest taking a cute hair-tie or headband with you just in case it starts to bother you at all.

i don’t think they’re too much together, but if you’re more comfortable just wearing one, i’d say go with the necklace!

I love both the hair piece and the necklace - definitely don’t think it’s too much! Go with it! And your hair looks GREAT down!

I guess it depends on your dress–a more simple bodice would look fabulous with the necklace. Otherwise, I think a headpiece would still be a bold and modern and romantic look. But I’m seriously LOVING that necklace!

Also, I’m jealous of your hair. It’s so beautiful!
