Miss Dew Drop, San FranciscoAge and Occupation: 31, AttorneyFiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Managerial Type at an Internet CompanyEngagement Date: December 12, 2008
Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Ralston Hall MansionAbout Me: I'm a food-and-baking-obsessed, occasionally sword wielding Bay Area native who is quickly becoming overwhelmed with planning a wedding and opening a law practice at the same time. (Brilliant move, that one.) I love reading, online shopping, ice cream, my Macbook, Bollywood movies, hoodies, the UCLA Bruins, and of course, Mr. Dew Drop.
I’m not sure how it happened, but Mr. DD and I have very few single friends left.
Oh, yeah, we’re getting old.
Needless to say, this means we’ve been to a couple of weddings in the past year. This has given us a good chance to borrowshamelessly steal other people’s ideas for our own wedding. So, just like our friends F and P, we’ll be having sliders as a midnight snack.
Well, actually, since we have to be out of our venue at midnight, it will be more like an 11PM snack. Still, I’m really excited about it. Food that I might actually have a decent chance of eating on my wedding day? Score!
Apparently we (and, of course, F and P) are not the only fans of the late night snack. Check these out:
Mrs. Bruschetta, PhiladelphiaAge and Occupation: 25, Communication ProfessionalFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Physical Therapy Graduate StudentEngagement Date: November 30, 2007Wedding Date: August 2009Venue: St. Thomas of Villanova Church & the F.U.E.L. HouseAbout Me: I’m a self-proclaimed grammar geek who loves singing (like, really belting it) in the car. My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! Being super competitive is in my nature, and talking excessively is in my genes. I’ve got a terrible sense of direction, but can always easily find my way into Mr. Bruschetta’s arms.
As soon as you walk into the F.U.E.L. House, you’re standing on our dance floor. It’s gorgeous, but it’s also very monochromatic. White marble floor. White walls. White ceiling. Perfect, really, for a bride who wants to blend in very easily with her surroundings.
We knew lighting would be essential, and discussed our options with the special events production company that’s affiliated with our DJ. It was nearly one year ago when the lighting pro agreed to meet us at our reception location, and together, we planned out the design.
Mrs. Mascara, Chicago/Upper MichiganAge and Occupation: 25, Biomedical EngineerFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Process EngineerEngagement Date: July 27, 2008Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Catholic ceremony, reception at local armoryAbout Me: A lover of Mr. Mascara, crafting, baking, Gossip Girl, diet soda, and all things wedding. A Yooper girl somehow displaced in the Chicago suburbs, planning a wedding from a distance, and counting down the days until I marry my best friend.
Last week I sent out our rehearsal dinner invitations! While not completely necessary, I really wanted to send out invites for the rehearsal dinner so there was no question as to who was invited and to make sure everyone knew what the plan was for dinner. Also, since our RD will be at Mr. M’s parents’ house on a lake outside of town, I wanted to make sure people knew how to get there!
I found my inspiration for the invitation design a few months ago, and even put them together a few weeks ahead of when I needed to send them! I was pretty proud of myself of being so on top of these.
Mrs. Beagle, AustinAge and Occupation: 26, Electrical EngineerFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, FinanceEngagement Date: July 12, 2008Wedding Date: October 2009Venue: Church Ceremony/Reception at The Waterford HouseAbout Me: I am a true, but rare, Austinite---I was born, raised, and continue to live in this great city! Although
I am an engineer by day, I feed my inner creative side through crafting, sewing, and obsessing over Martha Stewart. I love coffee, my mister, NPR, and exploring all the nooks and crannies of Austin.
I can't wait to share my adventures in DIY and wedding planning with all of you!
Our ceremony will take place in the church I grew up in. They just recently built a new addition to house the sanctuary and I have had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to use for decor.
I wish I had pictures, but I don’t. So you’re just going to have to picture this in your head: the sanctuary is very open, with stained concrete floors, modern light fixtures, and a high vaulted ceiling. The aisle is very short and leads up to the altar, above which hangs a giant wooden cross.
I wanted simple, minimal decor ideas for the aisle pews. Something along the lines of this:
Mrs. Lightning, Cape Town Age and Occupation: 22, Journalist and Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Computer ScientistEngagement Date: December 27, 2008
Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Hout Bay ManorAbout Me: I'm a young American living abroad in the beautiful city of Cape Town with a wonderful South African fiance and our crazy kitty Zeus. We're young, driven and madly in love. Together we're pursuing our wildest dreams including our biggest undertaking yet, a vintage retrospective wedding filled to the brim with DIY madness. I have an unnatural attraction to cake, a passion for blogging and a love of good design. While I might be an overly obsessive creative with too many ideas and nowhere to put them, Mr Lightning is my biggest fan and I can't wait to make my true love mine.
With our mutual passion for Mexican food, Mr Lightning and I have decided on a Mexican Fiesta theme for our rehearsal dinner (to be hosted by his family 2 days before the wedding). It’s a nice contrast to the sleek, cool colours of our wedding and gives me an opportunity to show off how sweet and pretty a fiesta can be (no tequila shots and sombreros for this intimate affair). Mrs. Powder Puff, ChicagoAge and Occupation: 25, Preschool TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Career ServicesEngagement Date: May, 2008Wedding Date: July, 2009Blogging Since: November 12, 2008Venue: Outdoor ceremony, banquet hall receptionAbout Me: I am your typical Midwestern girl attempting to plan a sane, budget-friendly, fun wedding to the man of my dreams. I love shoes, laughing at “Platinum Weddings”, crafts, inspiration boards, candy, and basically anything I can DIY. While weddings can certainly be all-consuming, I honestly can’t wait until the ceremony is over and I can finally call Mr. Powder Puff my husband!
OK, so I know I said that bridal party portraits would be next, but I’m just too excited to share our ceremony with you! So I thought we’d take a break from our regularly scheduled programming to skip ahead to the ceremony, and talk about the bridal party pictures a little later, mmmkay?
Our photo shenanigans had left my dress a little dirty, so we tried to clean it up before the walk down the aisle.

Mrs. Bunny, ColumbusAge and Occupation: 24, Associate Editor/ReporterFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, ReporterEngagement Date: September 23, 2008Wedding Date: July 2009Venue: Everal Barn, WestervilleAbout Me: Organized, but messy. I love art (all kinds). I don't have any secrets. I talk a lot and listen even more. I show love by baking. I'm timid by nature, but brave when it counts.
Mr. Bunny and I work at competing weekly newspapers, which makes it a little interesting trying to describe our work joys and frustrations without giving away too much before the paper comes out. In spite of that little hurdle, we've managed to build a pretty solid relationship in the short one-and-a-half years we will have been together when we tie the knot. I can't wait!
When we last left our intrepid heroine, Miss Bunny was having a major meltdown over her seamstress’ prediction that her dress couldn’t be altered to fit.
The dress was much too tight. It fit fine when I bought it of course, but I’m the type that gains weight when I’m stressed out… and believe me, wedding planning stressed me out!
Then-Miss Yorkie, only a week away from her own wedding, offered to send her 30-day Shred DVD in an effort to help me lose a few pounds. The gesture was mostly symbolic, though. I used the DVD once — and nearly passed out. Yes, I am tremendously out of shape. Don’t make fun! It was very serious and demoralizing at the time!
My mother and I spent the weekend looking for a replacement, but the only one we found that would fit was this number from David’s Bridal. Unfortunately, it was way out of my price range. On top of that, I only liked it. I didn’t love it. Read more…
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CAAge and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain PatrolEngagement Date: February 25, 2009Wedding Date: January 2010Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ RanchAbout Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
I wish they could all just be happy for us, since we got our fiance visa petition approval. I’ve shared the amazing news with all my close friends and family. Now everyone that cares about us is just as happy as we are, and even screaming with me when I tell them. But then again, we’re also getting some bad vibes coming from some people that have heard the news somewhere.
I truly think I have just a few really good friends and life has showed me who they are (they really understand me and support us), but I am really friendly and have tons of people I know and have kept in touch with at some level. So from the beginning of our relationship, whenever I got negative comments from them, I’ve tried to just not listen or have politely asked them not to judge me so quickly. For the first year this worked just fine, but then it really started to bug me. I decided to have a line ready for those that wanted to rub in my face how naive I was for trusting Mr. Poodle the way I do. I would simply say, “If you don’t have anything good to say, I’d prefer for you to not talk about us at all,” and give them a big smile. Of course, on the inside, I wanted to punch them in the face. Mrs. Mouse, AustinAge and Occupation: 25, Weddingbee Editor/AttorneyFiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Civil EngineerEngagement Date: December 19, 2007Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Barr MansionAbout Me: I just graduated from law school and will be taking the bar, getting married, going on a honeymoon with my guy, and then trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. I was born and raised in a small East Texas town, but I'm no country girl! I'm obsessed with British accents, fantasy (including Harry Potter, of course), and classic rock. My fiance and I consider ourselves both music and beer snobs--but every once in awhile we love to hear a crappy band and drink a cheap brew or two. We're planning an eco-friendly, casual, English garden affair for the end of summer, and we can't wait for it to get here!
Where were we? Oh yeah: the Dude and I had just finished sampling ten delicious appetizers and entrees. As the lights got dimmer and the bakers brought the cakes out, the Dude and I headed up to the main stage to grab a plate. Look how happy the Dude is!

Mrs. Quiche, Chicago/Montego BayAge and Occupation: 28, Interior DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 42, Telecom GuruEngagement Date: July 2, 2008Wedding Date: May, 2009Venue: Coyaba Resort, Montego BayAbout Me: I love Chicago and can’t imagine living anywhere else (Well, except Paris. Or anywhere in France, for that matter!). I’m a full-time worker, part-time student, soon-to-be-step-mom, indie music lovin’, architecture and design fanatic, macaroni and cheese addict, vegetarian, Francophile, Ohio State football obsessed, wedding planning girl. Mr. Quiche and I are “Partners-in-Crime” and cannot wait to celebrate our marriage surrounded by our family and closest friends. I plan on DIYing my little heart out (or as much as a suitcase to Jamaica will hold).
Doing the First Look allowed us plenty of time before the ceremony to take pictures. We really had a blast sneaking off to different areas around the resort & taking fun pictures. And besides, we didn’t want to miss the entire cocktail hour.
Since Red Stripe was flowing like water all weekend, we thought these shots were apropos.
Mrs. Glitter, Los AngelesAge and Occupation: 27, Research Consultant/WriterFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, AccountingEngagement Date: May 6, 2007Wedding Date: June, 2009Venue: Millenium Biltmore HotelAbout Me: I was born and raised in West Los Angeles, California. I spent eight years in the Northeast working and completing my education. Having split time between two sides of the country has given me a true appreciation for both coasts. It has also provided an overabundance of cross country drives, flights and long distance relationship fun/misery! I love my family, my doggy Emma, fabulous wine, Anthropologie, politics, reading, being outdoors, exploring new cities, and good movies! My fiance and I are complete opposites, but somehow we have managed to fall completely and hopelessly in love.
Wedding gifts can sometimes be an awkward subject. There is always chatter about guests who give registry gifts, non-registry gifts, cheap gifts, strange gifts, or maybe none at all. Some couples don’t want or need wedding gifts. Others do. And how many times can I say “gifts” in this short paragraph?
Anyway, I thought I’d share with you a few of the most heartwarming and thoughtful items we were given. Just thinking about all the generosity and love from our guests gives me warm fuzzies!
Art: Our friend/mechanic (who also happens to be an art collector) gifted us an amazing watercolor painting. How cool is that? He often combs flea markets and estate sales to find little jewels - which is how he came across this one. It makes me want to go on Antique Roadshow and find out the history behind it!
Handmade dish towels and wooden spoons: As part of her gift, my awesome friend from grad school handmade these adorable little dish towels (which we use frequently). She also gave us two wooden spoons and wrote us a special message. I loved it so much, I thought I’d share it with you all. Read more…

I love living with Mr. Peep and our animals: Huck the Dog and Ferris the Cat. I work to save the environment in San Francisco, while Mr. Peep makes ridiculously delicious Olive Oil. On any day you can find me reading the latest book I have gotten my hands on, eating Swedish Fish, and perusing wedding blogs! We are both champagne drinking foodies on a Bud Light budget. We are planning an eco-chic, intimate, and interfaith San Francisco City wedding.
One thing I am so glad we did during our wedding weekend was taking the time to thank our loved ones.
Our rehearsal was at 4:30PM and the rehearsal dinner didn’t start until 8PM, so it gave us a chance to have some sparkling wine delivered to the Terrace (made by Mr. Peep, no less):
Kimberly Canale, Brooklyn, NYVendor: Event DesignerWebsite: Inspired GoodnessAbout Me: From the moment the engagement ring was slipped onto my finger, I've been in love with all-things-wedding. I still get teary eyed reading proposal stories in magazines and love sneaking a peek at a bride and groom glancing at one another for the first time, as the ceremony is about to begin. With each of my clients, I get to know their personality, family background and hear the story of how they met and fell in love. Each piece becomes another element from which I use to build the overall vision for their wedding day.
As the Creative Director at Inspired Goodness, my job is to create the various details that makes each of our weddings come to life. My work incorporates classic elements; engraving, hand calligraphy and vintage typography. Using a mix of found objects and flea market pieces lends a rich history to my work and challenges me to find creative ways to use mass-produced elements, each with a chic and timeless result.
With every new client, I get to explore avenues I've yet to pass and love knowing that the next adventure is just around the corner!
Now that Shira and Loren have finally said “I do”, I have a ton of projects I spent the past few months on that I can finally share!!
With the popularity of the DIY Envelope Liners and all the amazing feedback we received about the custom Family Tree designed for their invitations, I wanted to show our gift to this happy couple - a custom etched mirror.
Doing glass or mirror etching is actually very simple. Once you find someone who can output your art into vinyl, it’s a very short process and the results are pretty amazing. I was even impressed upon seeing the final result!
