I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
… for 131 days! Our fiance visa petition has been APPROVED!! And… what does this mean? Well, in about 4 weeks, our papers will be at the embassy here in Chile, and then we will have about 5 more weeks for interviews, medical, and all the rest of the papers. After that I can fly to California to marry Mr. Poodle!! Yay!!!!
I’ve been praying for so long! This approval is a huge first step towards reaching our final goal of being together forever. I was jumping all over the apartment when I read the email sent from USCIS. I knew Mr. Poodle was at work, so I couldn’t call him (he almost never gets service at the station), so I texted him the news!!! I just can’t erase the smile off my face. I’m sooo happy!!

Mrs. Lightning, Cape Town Age and Occupation: 22, Journalist and Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Computer ScientistEngagement Date: December 27, 2008
Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Hout Bay ManorAbout Me: I'm a young American living abroad in the beautiful city of Cape Town with a wonderful South African fiance and our crazy kitty Zeus. We're young, driven and madly in love. Together we're pursuing our wildest dreams including our biggest undertaking yet, a vintage retrospective wedding filled to the brim with DIY madness. I have an unnatural attraction to cake, a passion for blogging and a love of good design. While I might be an overly obsessive creative with too many ideas and nowhere to put them, Mr Lightning is my biggest fan and I can't wait to make my true love mine.
So, it’s decided. Mr Lightning and I have settled on Egypt for our honeymoon. We tossed around the idea of a budget holiday in Paris and Rome, but in all honesty, we’d be eating 2-minute noodles from our suitcases if we went with this option.
Egypt had been the original plan, but just as it was with everything else, it was hard to make a decision. Read more…

We both come from a small town in PA but are growing to love the California lifestyle. He loves wine and I love cheese... the perfect combination! When I'm not drooling over wedding blogs, I'm attending grad school, out being a foodie, or attempting to "walk" our cat at the park. Two things guaranteed to excite me are wedding cakes and breaking out my suitcase to travel. Mr. Sunbeam and I are personalizing our hometown wedding to celebrate our high school sweetheart status and PA roots with a few CA touches. After ten years of dating we couldn't be more excited to call each other husband and wife!
There are some things that really got the short end of the stick budget-wise, like transportation. Up until a month ago we really hadn’t given much thought to transportation. Early on we kicked around the idea of getting an old model-T Ford to drive us around. But the model-T search wasn’t the easiest task, and a limo was WAY too expensive for us, so we pictured ourselves driving off in Momma Sunbeam’s Prius and went on with the planning. Then one day it hit me: what about a school bus??
We’re high school sweethearts, so we could definitely chalk it up to a nostalgia thing, and chances were that it would be cheap. Read more…

At the same time, I can also be very girly with an obsession with handbags, makeup, and high heels. And art! I've studied studio art extensively, almost majored in art history, and freelance as a web and graphics designer. Mr. Peony and I are having a ball of a time planning a wedding for 250(!) guests, doing our best to infuse our personalities (geeky chic) with the wishes of our very traditional Asian parents.

I speak Italian and love pasta. My real passion is the outdoors, though. When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. Despite my boyish love for adventure, I'm a girly-girl at heart and am overly-excited to pull off the romantic, vintage-inspired, country wedding of my dreams.
Hive. I’ve found her. The magic maker (aka hairstylist) who will make my hair look like the things of my inspiration pictures. I teetered between a bun, a side pony, half-up, or completely down and curly. But Candace Post from Hot Heads Salon walked off the seesaw and left me teetering no more. I’ve decided that I’ll be doing a side bun. And I’m pretty positive you’ll be convinced, too.

Mrs. Mouse, AustinAge and Occupation: 25, Weddingbee Editor/AttorneyFiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Civil EngineerEngagement Date: December 19, 2007Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Barr MansionAbout Me: I just graduated from law school and will be taking the bar, getting married, going on a honeymoon with my guy, and then trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. I was born and raised in a small East Texas town, but I'm no country girl! I'm obsessed with British accents, fantasy (including Harry Potter, of course), and classic rock. My fiance and I consider ourselves both music and beer snobs--but every once in awhile we love to hear a crappy band and drink a cheap brew or two. We're planning an eco-friendly, casual, English garden affair for the end of summer, and we can't wait for it to get here!
As soon as I saw the results from our e-pic session, I knew we had made the right choice.
I had kind of put the wedding photography into the back of my mind because I knew we had it covered. I have complete faith that Jennifer and C.J. get our aesthetic, and that we can just leave it to them to capture amazing pictures on our wedding day.
But then, they posted this wedding on their blog on Sunday, and I fell in love all over again. I’m more excited for our wedding than ever now! (Although, I do have to admit I have a serious case of wedding envy.)

Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Ralston Hall MansionAbout Me: I'm a food-and-baking-obsessed, occasionally sword wielding Bay Area native who is quickly becoming overwhelmed with planning a wedding and opening a law practice at the same time. (Brilliant move, that one.) I love reading, online shopping, ice cream, my Macbook, Bollywood movies, hoodies, the UCLA Bruins, and of course, Mr. Dew Drop.
Actually, and though I hate to admit it, J and I met in a bar. This bar, to be exact.
It was a birthday party for a high school friend of mine. I was 24, fresh off my stint in Boston for law school. He was 28, working long hours at an internet company that my friend had just started temping for.
We started dating a mere five years later.
Life is funny, isn’t it? There’s this person you knew all along, but first you were dating someone and then he was dating someone. And while you knew him, you didn’t really know him, if you know what I mean. And then he sends you an email out of the blue. And you’re curious. Read more…

We are complete opposites, resulting in a wedding to include bridesmaids in pearls and groomsmen in Adidas shell toes. I’m a sorority girl at heart with strong addictions to my blackberry, cherry Chapstick, Coach purses, the Boston Red Sox and our fur baby, Bella. I can’t wait to the throw the party of our lives and of course, marry my best friend!
My name is Miss Cloud and I am a Facebook wedding stalker. It’s true, I admit it. And I’m fairly certain this is not a normal behavior. I just can’t help myself—if anyone has a big white dress in their profile picture, I will be checking out every single one of their pictures in hopes for another peek at the wedding. Even if I don’t know them and my only glimpse of said white dress is from a tiny picture next to a comment they left on a wall somewhere. It’s gotten out of control, really.
The other day, while doing my regular FB stalking, I noticed that a friend of a friend got married a few weekends ago. The wedding was gorgeous, the outdoor ceremony was right before sunset, with a reception that followed at a local hotel. The bride was glowing, and the groom shed a few tears, and no one in attendance even posted any ugly cry face pictures. But while I was looking at the pictures, I couldn’t help but remember the last time I had seen the bride. It was shortly after Mr. Cloud and I had gotten engaged, and she wasn’t even dating anyone at the time. The lovely bride and groom whose pictures I was lovingly stalking hadn’t even known each other as long as we have been planning our wedding! A very familiar pang of jealousy struck me pretty hard.
It all made sense when we started planning. Read more…

Engagement Date: December 31, 2008Wedding Date: November 2009Venue: Whitfield Square/Savannah StationAbout Me: I'm working on my second degree from UGA (Go Dawgs!). I'm a self-proclaimed attention-w****. If it involves a camera, I'm in front of it! You'll never meet a girlier tomboy than me. I can go toe to toe with any guy on the subject of college football, and lift more than any girl in my gym, all without chipping a nail. I hope to someday be the only person you want delivering your sports news. My FI and I are the loving parents of three Labrador Retrievers (one of each color) and are planning a "Southern Romantic Charm" wedding in the beautiful, historic city of Savannah. I'm not extreme in anything except moderation... and wedding planning.
Sorry about the lame title. Mr. Lab came up with it because I couldn’t think of one.
Anyhoo, I’m breathing a sigh of relief (if you couldn’t decipher the title) because I’ve finished all of our ceremony decor! After I completed the hanging magnolia mason jars, I got to work on a way to dress up our gazebo “altar”:
Ignore the weird yellowing. It doesn’t exist in real life, just wacky camera stuff.
I really wanted to keep the ceremony decor simple, as not to distract from the natural beauty of Savannah’s Whitfield square.

For our home/ garden/ DIY wedding, we’ll be moonlighting as interior designers, home improvers, and gardeners with the help of our fabulous friends and neighbors. We can’t wait to be married, and are learning how fun getting married can be.
Hi, remember me? *waving* I used to blog here, but then I got a serious case of the Recaps and I’ve been fighting it ever since.
Much like my predecessors, I’m struggling to finish them, and I’m going to let you in on a little secret: recaps aren’t nearly as much fun as I once thought they’d be. We love you guys, our supportive and fantabulous readers, and we sometimes have a hard time trying to live up to your expectations… and our own. I want to find the words to make you feel like you were there, to make you understand that “it was the best day” is completely genuine, to give you hope and peace and help you get through the meltdowns that we all go through. Despite a few disappointments (thank you sexyredframe for your time, even though it didn’t work out), I’ve come to realise there might always be a better dress, and one cannot dwell on such things forever. At this stage I just wanted something flattering.
So, I went to visit Cindy Bam Couture for the second time. Her gowns are beautiful and her professionalism shines through. However, after attempting a couture custom gown, I realised I just wouldn’t be able to pay the price for such a beautiful gown, and after negotiations and various quotes I had to let the dress she sketched go.
Not long after however, Cindy contacted me to say she was working on a standard collection and that the dress she had intended to make for me would be simplified and put into this new collection at a more budget friendly price. With this in mind, I made another appointment and was touched to see that they had started work on a gown just for me (but with no obligation). The reason I know it was made for me was because I had inquired if they could make my dress in silver the last time I came, as I felt the white to be too stark against my skin. And, lo and behold, there stood a silver metallic satin gown in front of me. Read more…
