Living on the West Coast and having a wedding on the East Coast gives my bridesmaids double duty when it comes to planning bridal showers! Of course, a single shower would have been just fine, but since my MOH lives on the West Coast, and the rest of my ’maids life on the east, both parties wanted to throw a shower, and how could I say no to that!?

After celebrating a baby shower at work, Mr. Sunbeam and I headed over to his Aunt’s house for dinner. Little did I know that I would be walking right into our Jack & Jill shower!

When we left off, I had a bunch of uniformly cut (but blank) paper. My next task was to take care of that blankness! I printed all of the cards on Tuesday during my lunch hour. Printing your own paper products is an art in itself, especially on oddly-shaped paper. The margins NEVER cooperate. You have to trick the printer in to thinking it’s doing something its designed for, while at the same time praying that you don’t get a jam. (I got several.) I thought my biggest issue would be the RSVP cards, because my printer is designed not to accept paper under 4.83 inches wide (mine’s 4″). Thankfully, I’d already printed the Save-The-Dates on the same small paper, so I knew I could coerce the printer in to doing this. The 10″x12″ paper was the WORST. So many pages were ruined. There were so many that I had to redo. It would NOT line up properly, and it kept jamming. I finally got ’em done, though.
I used Photoshop to flatten, combine, and line up my cards to correspond to the size of paper on which they were to be printed:
Here’s an example of one of my layouts.

So, after the heartbreak of finding my ridiculously expensive dream dress, I decided to wait a few months to actually get engaged before trying on any dresses for real. Logical, right? I think it was mostly my attempt to not deal with the obvious “situation” at hand.
Six months or so passed by with the Stephen Yearick still hanging in my dorm room before I could gather the strength to go look at other dresses. My MOH and I headed out to find a gorgeous (and less expensive!) substitute. These are the rejects:
Obviously, there is no question as to where the bride and groom sit at their own reception. Whether at the head table or a sweetheart table, either way, the newly married couple usually know where they should sit, and no honorable wedding guest would dare take those seats. Are the little signs we see designating the chairs for the happy couple unnecessary? Probably. But are they super cute and just begging for a photo op? Most definitely!

I’ve written three whole posts on finding my bridal glow. My search started back on January 1, and it took almost 150 days to find it.
If you’re keeping track—two days before the wedding, I was still searching for it.
But as I’ve said from the beginning, I did eventually find it… or did it find me??
Let me set the scene:
Who: Miss Peep Toe with Mama and Papa Peep
When: Two days before the wedding
Where: Amy Kuschel’s Bridal
Why: Final Dress Fitting
I had spent the morning dropping Mr. Peep off at work, picking up Papa Peep from the airport, dropping off two car loads of ’stuff’ at the hotel, and picking Mama Peep up from my house so we could all make it to the dress shop by 11AM.
Talk about an exhausting morning. Yet, as always, walking into Amy’s was like a dream. Isn’t it so pretty?
I often get most of my best thinking done in the car. So, naturally, I was having a heated internal debate a couple weeks ago as I drove to Sister and BIL Bruschetta’s house. Was I really showing up early for their annual BBQ/pool party? My sister had asked me to arrive with the mister around 1:30, so I could help her cook and he could assist with setup. Or would I find the backyard teeming with family and friends, all there to celebrate our shower?
Nope, this couldn’t be our shower. That’s why I’d packed a bathing suit, towel and change of clothes. It was why Mr. Bruschetta — who’d have to leave their house early for work — was driving separately.
Then again, it was the most perfect Saturday for a Christmas in July celebration. (What a cute theme that would be!)
But no…it just couldn’t be! We’d had a leisurely morning, with a lengthy visit to the gym — which ended with Mr. Bruschetta’s offer to stretch my tight muscles (ouch!) for a quarter hour. He seemed not at all in a rush, and so nonchalant.
Well, except for that question he asked when I was getting changed right before we left. As I was selecting an outfit, Mr. Bruschetta uncharacteristically butted in: “You’re not getting dressed up, are you?” No, wasn’t planning on it. But what if I did want to wear a cute skirt?
My secret-detecting radar was picking up some signals, but overall, it seemed like an ordinary day. So I pulled into Sister and BIL Bruschetta’s driveway and headed toward the front door.

The countdown to the wedding is hanging precariously over my head, ticking away as the 30-day mark looms closer and closer… which will, of course, only speed toward the 15, 10, and 5 day markers! And before you know it, we’ll be at the night-before-the-wedding-point. Eeh.
I think Mr. S is starting to feel it too, however he’s not feeling the need to get a jump start on DIY projects or plan out the timeline. He’s instituted “two a days” in the Stiletto household.
After a girls night out, it was time to get down to business! I was nervous about the rehearsal, because, well, you practice this once, and I didn’t want to be the bride who messed it up!
The evening, once again, had traffic issues. There was a bad accident on the interstate, so all of Mr. BF’s side didn’t make it to the church on time. I wasn’t nervous that Mr. BF was bailing on me, but I was worried that we were keeping the priest too long.
Also, here is my stupid bride moment—I never communicated to everyone the actual rehearsal time. I just figured everyone kind of knew… ugh. I thought all of the information was listed on the invite (which MIL graciously made, but I didn’t proofread close enough), so a couple of people didn’t make it to the actual rehearsal, just the dinner. In fact, Brother BF pulled up in our driveway right before we left for the church with Subway in hand (yep, he was gonna eat dinner with us afterward, too… ah, boys!). So brides, do not forget to mention the time of the ACTUAL rehearsal. Whoopsie!
So, after Mr. BF and his family showed up, it was time to get the show on the road. The priest first gave us a run-down verbally of what would happen, and then we practiced it. Here we are at the altar with Mizz K and Best Man BF (who is Mr. BF’s brother).
Note the heels…those are some sassy shoes for me, but no, those did NOT stay on my feet the whole evening. I ended up stopping at home to put on my black ballet flats on the way to the actual dinner. Owweee!
Walking along Broadway in NYC Thursday afternoon, I was immediately drawn to a window display. At first, I thought “gorgeous glass sculpture”, but then looked closer. I was actually staring at water bottles filled with colored water - genius!
I’ve been on a roll lately with our DIY projects. And with the passing of our 3-month-out mark, I don’t see any sign of it letting up in the near future.
I finished my internships and moved back home this weekend. I have one week left of free time before the new semester begins and my life gets way too busy to focus on tasks like these anymore. I decided to spend my first night back working on our aisle decor: hanging mason jars with magnolia flowers!

If you want to try out this project, you’ll need the following supplies:

After spotting this beautiful wedding on Once Wed a little while ago, I’ve considered throwing out the boutonniere idea altogether. Though, they can be potentially quite fun and quirky like this groom’s boutonniere:
Here in Chile we don’t have the “bridesmaid” tradition. Instead, there’s only a Maid of Honor, called a “Madrina”. What a bummer!! One of the really cool things about mixing traditions for the wedding is that I’m having bridesmaids!! Yay!
But from the beginning, I never liked the idea of having them all dress the same. Plus, I’ve never liked to tell anyone how to dress. But because it’s our wedding, I still want them to match, somehow.
It’s becoming more and more popular to have ‘maids dressed differently—either in different dresses that are the same color, or in completely different dresses and shades that are still in the wedding palette.
I thought about how to manage that, because I don’t want my BMs to purchase a dress that they are not going to wear again. Let’s be real—not everyone is into purple like I am!! So, I thought about making my bridesmaids’ dresses.
I think this could be a really cool idea because they would get the dress they want, cheaply. They’ll be completely unique and personalized, and I could try to make them match somehow - I would really like them in different purple shades
.
So, here’s my inspiration pictures for BM dresses:

Da da da da dum dum…
I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it. I’m about to lose control and I think I like it…
{Cut to me singing at the top of my lungs and jumping up and down like a maniac.}
Ahem.
So if anyone asks, that didn’t happen just now. There was no Pointer Sisters song playing on a tape. There was no secretly stashed away boom box. There was no vigorous head bopping and arm waving. And there was definitely no leg warmer wearing. Nope, no leg warmer wearing at all.
Now that that confession clarification is out of the way, let me introduce myself. I’m Miss Dew Drop, and (on the off chance I was being way too subtle with my singing) I’m so excited to be here!
This has been a really hectic year for Mr. Dew Drop and me. After we got engaged in December, things just started to get crazy. I’ve been opening up my own law practice and taking graduate law classes in estate planning. He’s been transitioning into a new role at work. We renovated his townhouse and are prepping my townhouse to rent out. And my sister had twins! So we rushed off to Connecticut to help out for a bit. Then we rushed back and began a mad dash to finish our wedding planning. And somewhere in there we’ve been trying to remember to have a social life (it’s important to actually have guests at the wedding, right?).
With everything that’s been going on, we’re really excited (and stressed out and then excited again) to be getting close to our wedding date.

A few years ago, my mom passed down her wedding album. My parents were married in 1979 in a very small ceremony. The reception was held in my grandparents’ backyard and my grandmother’s homemade spaghetti was the only thing on the menu.
Needless to day, it was a simple affair. Her album is similar.

Yes, my maiden name was Seeds. Like you plant in the ground. Blech.
