Mrs. Meatball, HollywoodAge and Occupation: 30, Actor/Writer/Office MavenFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Actor/WriterEngagement Date: October 7, 2007Wedding Date: May, 2009Blogging Since: September 16, 2008Venue: Private Garden/The Bungalow ClubAbout Me: I love melty cheese and diet coke almost as much as I love my man. I'm from Chicago, he's from NYC, and we both miss public transit and great pizza. We have an adorable muppet dog called Paco. I'm part hippie with a healthy dash of hip hop superstar, have excessive empathy for animals, and have not one, but two bionic eyes (long story). We're broke and it ain't no joke. It can't stop us from planning the bold and whimsical wedding of our dreams, but we've had to get pretty creative to make it work, yo!
Hey LA brides! Come on down to the Soi-Meme eco-bridal salon event tomorrow, featuring loads of ideas on how to walk down a greener aisle. I’ll be speaking on the Green Media Maven panel at noon - hope to see you there!

Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CAAge and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain PatrolEngagement Date: February 25, 2009Wedding Date: January 2010Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ RanchAbout Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
So before I show you the ring, here’s a little fact: Yesterday, my MOH boarded a plane to go study English for 6 months in Colorado. She was extremely nervous because it is going to be her first time there (all alone, too) but she’s REALLY excited about the experience, and the fact that after I move, both of us will be decently close to each other. She will spend the holidays with us and will help us with all the massive DIY projects for the wedding. She rocks, I know!
So, before she left, she handed me “Mr. Poodle’s future precious”! I’m SO EXCITED it’s already finished!!
As you know, it all began with this idea: I happened to pick up two pieces of wood on our Patagonia trip. After random conversations about other options for our rings’ materials we decided that we could keep that trip in our memories forever by incorporating the wood into the rings.
You know the drill- If your name happens to be Mr. Poodle, RUN away from the computer AHORA, and DO NOT read on. Read more…
Mrs. Chick, HoustonAge and Occupation: 28, Rights and Reproduction ManagerFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Computer ProgrammerEngagement Date: November 15, 2008Wedding Date: April 2010Venue: A farm outside of HoustonAbout Me: Mr. Chick and I met almost ten years ago at Baker Blues, a college jazz party. He was attracted to my intensity, and I was mesmerized by his trivia pursuit skills and his dorm furniture adorned with his initials. We've grown more sophisticated through the years, with our love of wine, owning a house together, and parenthood (of a cat), but we have not lost our silliness or childish sense of humor!
I love how in this wedding, the bridesmaids’ dresses are the same color as the bride’s wedding gown, just shorter. This makes me feel better about perhaps picking light pewter as the BM dress color.
Mrs. Sprinkle, Los AngelesAge and Occupation: 26, Preschool Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Television Production/WriterEngagement Date: December 24, 2008Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: The Marvimon HouseAbout Me: I'm a Bay Area native trying to create a life for myself (and my fiance, and our three cats!) in the vast city of Los Angeles. I love vegan red velvet cupcakes, pilates ,and mid-century furniture. Mr. Sprinkle and I met when my band toured through his city (we bonded over cake and a mutual love of Morrissey) and we are getting married on the four year anniversary of our first date. When I am not teaching preschool (or blogging!) you can find me perfecting recipes, petting kittens, hiking in Griffith Park, and overusing exclamation points. We are planning a vegan, green-as-possible, DIY wedding, and I couldn't be more excited to share all of the details!
At this point I can get semi-reliable weather reports for the wedding day. That means we are officially super close. And all of my little projects are (almost) officially finished!
I used some bits and pieces of leftover ribbons, birds, and scraps of material for two projects that I completed this week. Both items were free and took no time at all to make! Read more…
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, DallasAge and Occupation: 28, Special Projects CoordinatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity TraderEngagement Date: March 19, 2009Wedding Date: April 2010Venue: Marie Gabrielle, DallasAbout Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
I thought that I outgrew paper lanterns, and that they would serve no purpose post-college dorm decoration. However, when I went to visit my reception site, I paged through some picture books they had and saw a photo of lanterns that inspired me…
Then I started searching the internet and came across several other lantern pictures that solidified my decision to include lanterns as a decorative element. Now I need to find at least 10-15 cream lanterns to use for our wedding. Can you be a power buyer on eBay? Because I’m starting to think a lot of my purchases will be from there. Read more…
Mrs. Powder Puff, ChicagoAge and Occupation: 25, Preschool TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Career ServicesEngagement Date: May, 2008Wedding Date: July, 2009Blogging Since: November 12, 2008Venue: Outdoor ceremony, banquet hall receptionAbout Me: I am your typical Midwestern girl attempting to plan a sane, budget-friendly, fun wedding to the man of my dreams. I love shoes, laughing at “Platinum Weddings”, crafts, inspiration boards, candy, and basically anything I can DIY. While weddings can certainly be all-consuming, I honestly can’t wait until the ceremony is over and I can finally call Mr. Powder Puff my husband!
Mrs. Mascara, Chicago/Upper MichiganAge and Occupation: 25, Biomedical EngineerFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Process EngineerEngagement Date: July 27, 2008Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Catholic ceremony, reception at local armoryAbout Me: A lover of Mr. Mascara, crafting, baking, Gossip Girl, diet soda, and all things wedding. A Yooper girl somehow displaced in the Chicago suburbs, planning a wedding from a distance, and counting down the days until I marry my best friend.
With only a little over a week left until the wedding, I cannot help but look past the wedding and move on to the honeymoon. Don’t get me wrong, I am very excited for the wedding, the marriage, and everything that comes with being husband and wife. But at this point I am slightly stressed, a little anxious, and looking forward to VACATION!
The morning after the wedding we’ll be waking up early (well, relatively early, considering the fact that it’s the day after our wedding) and making the drive back to Chicago. We’ll be switching our bags with our pre-packed honeymoon luggage, grabbing a bottle of champagne, and taking a nice ride in a town car to the airport.
Wondering where we’re going?
Well let’s see. We’ll start in Barcelona, where we board our 12-day Mediterranean cruise! Read more…
Mrs. Sunbeam, San Francisco/Grove City, PAAge and Occupation: 26, Grad Student & Office ManagerFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Motion DesignerEngagement Date: May 10, 2008Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Harbison Chapel & The Maple Lane FarmAbout Me: Mr. Sunbeam and I are high school sweethearts. We both come from a small town in PA but are growing to love the California lifestyle. He loves wine and I love cheese... the perfect combination! When I'm not drooling over wedding blogs, I'm attending grad school, out being a foodie, or attempting to "walk" our cat at the park. Two things guaranteed to excite me are wedding cakes and breaking out my suitcase to travel. Mr. Sunbeam and I are personalizing our hometown wedding to celebrate our high school sweetheart status and PA roots with a few CA touches. After ten years of dating we couldn't be more excited to call each other husband and wife!
Last weekend, Mr. Sunbeam and I went for our first private dance lesson. When we handed over our music to our instructor, we still hadn’t chosen a song for our first dance. It’s a tall order for a song to be romantic, yet modern, yet everything you’d ever want it to be for your first dance. So we let the instructor listen to all three and he told us the recommended dance moves for each. Here were the contenders:
Mrs. Joey, SeattleAge and Occupation: 28, Project Administrator for Public Health NGOFiance's Age and Occupation: 30, High School History TeacherEngagement Date: June 24, 2008Wedding Date: August 2009Venue: Eastside Catholic Chapel and Lake Union CafeAbout Me: I'm a Seattle girl through and through except for the fact that I don't drink coffee. I love my job most of the time because I get to travel and work with brilliant people who are trying to prevent Malaria. I love DIY projects of all sorts, cooking, and watching sports. I'd wear anything at Anthropologie and could spend all day on Etsy. I love to travel but shouldn't because I always get myself into unbelievable situations!
So, we’re starting to get pictures back from the wedding, and I can’t decide what order to post recaps in. There are the bridal events before the wedding, like the shower and bachelorette. There’s all the prep work we did the week before, the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, the reception, and the after party. Of course, there’s also the honeymoon. In addition, I have a budget breakdown post, one about what I’d do differently, and one that discusses the hardships of the wedding week. I thought about being different and starting with the most recent events first, but I can’t decide.
I’m open to suggestions, so please comment below if you have an idea!

I can't wait to share my adventures in DIY and wedding planning with all of you!
My Introduction to the Weblog:
Until 2007, (like many of the bees) the only internet related reading I did was news headlines and stories on the BBC. I had no idea that such an expansive world of internet literature covering anything from cooking to politics existed. Enter Etsy. I believe I was searching the internet realm for information on Lupus when I came across an Etsy seller who was donating proceeds from her shop to the LFA. I was immediately hooked. From that point, I was introduced to the blog. Many of the first blogs I started reading on a regular basis were by Etsy sellers. I loved following other people’s creative ventures, learning tidbits here and there about their lives, and diving further into the realm of the internet world as I was introduced to more and more new blogs to read.
Finding What I Wasn’t Looking For:
In late 2007/early 2008, Mr. Beagle and I began seriously discussing a marriage and a wedding. Even though we didn’t have an official engagement, I started browsing for wedding inspiration online. I came across the Knot, but it just didn’t seem to fit me. One day, while randomly searching for wedding venues in Austin, I came across the Weddingbee site. Much like my experience with Etsy, I was immediately hooked. I secretly followed the blogs of Cupcake, Lovebug, Onion, Tiramisu, Cookie, Jasmine (I could probably go on and on…) and went through the archives with utter amazement at the weddings the bloggers produced. I loved the details, the DIY, and, most of all, the community that was so friendly, welcoming, and supportive. Read more…

Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Ralston Hall MansionAbout Me: I'm a food-and-baking-obsessed, occasionally sword wielding Bay Area native who is quickly becoming overwhelmed with planning a wedding and opening a law practice at the same time. (Brilliant move, that one.) I love reading, online shopping, ice cream, my Macbook, Bollywood movies, hoodies, the UCLA Bruins, and of course, Mr. Dew Drop.
This wedding is making me think that there are major gaps in what I know. For instance, I know next to nothing about flowers.
Hmm, maybe I need to get Mr. DD to bring me flowers more often?
I’m not sure how this happened. I mean, I do know some basic types–roses and daisies and tulips and orchids. And it turns out that my sister had hydrangeas at her wedding. But peonies?Ranunculus? I don’t think I knew what either of them looked like until I got engaged.
Reezy’s pink Stuart Weitzman shoes were decorated on the soles with the words “I Do” written in blue crystals! This great idea was her “something blue”!

I love polka dots, craft projects, Dunkin’ Donuts’ iced coffee, and anything sparkly. I’m having a blast planning our elegant/dramatic/New York City/acting-themed/largely-DIY wedding and am thrilled to be the youngest current Miss Blogger!
During the process of writing our own ceremony, I’ve come up against a few logistical issues that have me stumped. One of these is how to acknowledge our many gay friends and our appreciation for their support of an institution that they are not yet allowed to partake in.
