Finally, it was time for the ceremony to start.
The cellist was ready to go:

Last Friday I went to my hair and makeup trial, which I hope to post pictures of soon. Though I loved the makeup, I didn’t love the hair so much. My stylist, Jeanie, did a wonderful job, but because my hair is thick and long-ish, the low updo she styled was a) large and stuck out more than the lovely ‘dos in my inspiration photos and b) was heavy and made my head hurt. Thus, tomorrow I will be going back to the salon where they have graciously allowed me to take part in a second hair trial.
I shied away from trying a style that allowed most/all of my hair to be down because I was concerned about the curls falling or my hair turning into a big fro from the inevitable Texas humidity (*hoping this won’t be an issue at the end of October*). However, I took the updo down within an hour of coming home last Friday and the curls remained intact for the remainder of the day and there will still remnants of them 24 hours later! So tomorrow, I will be going back with more inspiration photos in hand to sit through round two of the hair trial.
I think I’ve decided to leave it all down, with a part on the side. My veil will be worn during the ceremony, after which I would like to some type of headband:

Since we launched the Princess Lasertron Felt Flower Bouquet Kits last May, we blew our goal of selling 50 kits in 2009 out of the water in the first two months. As readers and customers began sending me photos of their finished creations, I started the Princess Lasertron photo pool on Flickr for everyone to share photos of their creations and inspire each other.
Here’s a look at some of the great projects that you have all shared in the Flickr pool…
Since I’ve been on a music kick lately with our playlists, I figured I should fill you in on how we booked our band. We listened to many, many bands before finally settling on one and signing a contract. With the goal in mind that we wanted a bluegrass band, we initially turned to our favorite, the Infamous Stringdusters.
But a few quick emails proved them to be too expensive at $7,500 plus the cost of a production assistant. They are, after all, Nashville’s hottest.
So, I started asking around.

Yeah baby! I might not like my hometown on daily basis (but that’s just because I would rather live in the middle of nowhere… hehe), but last December, when Mr. Poodle visited me here in Chile, I got the chance to fall in love all over again with my pretty but sometimes too-much-of-a-city Santiago!

It never really occurred to me to wear a veil for our wedding. Maybe this is obvious—as I’ve mentioned before, I’m wearing my wedding dress for the reception only. I’ll be wearing a sari for the ceremony. And although I could pull the pallu (loose end) of my sari over my head to keep covered during the ceremony, I’m not sure I feel comfortable doing that. I mean, I just got used to wearing a sari with the pallu over my shoulder. It’s better not to jinx things, right?
Since my hair will be uncovered, I thought it would be nice to dress it up a little bit. Surprise, surprise: when I bought my dress, I noticed that the bridal salon had a large selection of hair accessories. (A bridal salon selling bridal hair accessories? Who knew??) I filed that away for future reference and started to look online while waiting for my dress to come in.
Originally I thought I might like a headband of some sort.
Something like this:

Over the past several months, I’ve been collecting dresses to wear at all of my various pre-wedding celebrations. I tried them all on yesterday, and it’s a good thing I did! I came across a couple of unexpected issues.
The Shower Dress
This is the dress that I was hoping to wear to my upcoming wedding shower on Saturday.

Becoming a Blogger
I wrote my first blog post of all time on May 1st, 2004. I discovered the world of blogging a few months prior when I did an internet search on my American Eagle t-shirt phrase and found a LiveJournal page by a girl in New York. It all seemed so ridiculous and self-involved and my friends and I mocked the people who would do such a thing. Then, I swallowed my pride and decided to start my own. I started my first blog with this sentence of a post: “I am not sure what this is; I am at work and I get really bored so I thought I would try this out.” Pitiful, right? Then I found this article on Time.com while surfing the ’net at work one day, and realized that blogging could be something powerful and exciting, so I began to write scores of mediocre posts detailing my life and different things I found online. I had no readers, a handful of comments, and averaged about 50 posts a year. Definitely not Weddingbee material.
Then I started dating this great Polish guy, and things were looking good. Really good. Like, marriage good. I’m not sure exactly how or when I found Weddingbee (sometime in September or October I think), but I posted excitedly about it in November of 2007:

After an anxious wait, we have Mr. Mary Jane’s ring! We picked it up from River City Jewelers (where it was custom-made) late last week. Isn’t it pretty?
Reader bridetobe_melanie looked great dancing during her engagement shoot on her fiance’s Manhattan rooftop!

Since I have a couple of very talented origami expert friends, I thought I might use their dexterity to my advantage!
What do you guys think of these? Aren’t they cute?
I’m not so big on the beads, but I think these would be lovely just on their own, hanging.

Here’s the tutorial for pink flowers. I really like the ball above. It reminds me of Martha’s chapel. I actually like these better because they seem a bit more sturdy and sophisticated.

With fireworks out of the question, this little project will be a small way to recreate the pyrotechnic display I love so much.
I read about DIY sparkler packaging on a number of blogs and decided to combine a few ideas to make my very own version.

About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I’m a “bleeding heart, save the world type” and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn’t even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.

I had successfully connected with my inner-bride. Score! However, my outer bride was late. So late, in fact, that I missed my pre-ceremony portrait session in the lobby. Oops. There was a snafu with the bridal suite and we couldn’t start hair and makeup until much later than originally anticipated.
So the guys were ready… but the girls were way behind.
I was surprisingly calm about the whole thing; probably thanks to my photographer (who kept reassuring me that we were good to go with the 500 pictures he had taken thus far).

This is one of many pictures of people fastening my bustle. It was a complicated task that involved touching my backside quite frequently. And that’s really all I remember about it.
