Miss Chick Lives for a Day : wedding inspiration 141

Have you seen this movie yet?

You should, if you haven’t already. It has two of my favorite actors (Amy Adams and Lee Pace) and it is my new inspiration for my wedding. The wardrobe! The decor! The music! They are simply wonderful. I’m listening to the soundtrack as I blog away…

First, let’s look at the set. I love the muted colors and the decor details:

The contrast between the muted colors and gold is somehow done in a classy manner and does not look tacky.

Is this not the most fabulous just-got-out-of-bed-but-I-still-look-glamorous robe?

I’m not so sure about the Minnie Mouse hat below… but I do love the sassy dress on Amy Adams. Somehow I think the red belt is overkill. I know it’s supposed to be cute but I just don’t think women of that era would have paired those two colors together. It looks too modern to me… but that’s just me.

Now for a little groom style:

The happy couple is on their way to America in order to escape from the war, just like how Mr. Chick and I will be on our way to our married lives together soon. I told you this movie was perfect!

Which movie has inspired your wedding?

The muted gold is definitely the way to go to avoid the overly blingy effect. Amy Adams is just always too adorable, loved her in Jule and Julia. Really lovely inspiration.

Love the inspiration!

I don’t know if they would have worn the red and teal together, either - but my knowledge of the era comes from either black-and-white movies made at the time, and the Chronicles of Narnia - but personally I love it when period movies bring a little modern flair to the costume design!

I really want to see that movie now! And I loooove Amy Adams. I got to be an extra in a scene with her last year and it was the highlight of my month.

It’s kind of pathetic maybe, but Twilight has a tad of an influence on our wedding plans (not set on how much will make the cut yet). I was knee deep in the book series and movie soundtrack when we got engaged, so it seemed sort of apropos to include it in our wedding a bit. We’re not talking any vampire/werewolf influence, but I may use the Twilight font on some stationary, and may use the quote of Edward’s proposal on our invite (”I promise to love you forever- every single day of forever”) and of course we’ll definitely play some songs from the soundtrack b/c I love them. Coincidentally our BM dresses are black, my engagement ring is oval (sorta like Bella’s), and some of the paper for our stationary is “Jacobean Black” - with all those coincidences we felt “ok” including a few more subtle touches. Like I said- not overtly Twilight, but it has some appearances.
