Miss Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.

Photobooth

September 2nd, 2009 @ 3:30 pm by Miss Frozen Yogurt

I really want a photobooth at our wedding. I also think that all sorts of props will be in order; I’m thinking hats, wigs, glasses, etc. I don’t know where I’ll find all this stuff, but maybe I can hit the costume stores right after Halloween? Can someone remind me of that plan? ;)

I think that it will be an opportunity to get a picture of everyone, even if maybe the photographer is not able to. Now here’s where I need your help!!

As a guest, would you be okay with having the photos as your “favor” from the wedding? I’m planning budget stuff here, so I’m curious. But, don’t want to offend our guests by not offering them another concrete favor.

Personally, I’d never be offended if I wasn’t offered a specific favor. I’d think a photo would be a great keepsake from the night.

Totally! I went to a wedding that had the photo booths with pics as favors, and they had these little snowflake picture holder things…the photos were definitley the best part! I think the snowflake is laying on its side on a windowsill in the kitchen that collects lots of random stuff like wine corks, coasters, and measuring spoons, while the pictures are displayed prominently on my bulletin board!

I am doing “Photobooth Favors” as a favor for my upcoming wedding. I really just love the idea and gets the guests involved. I also am putting a stick of rock candy at everyones place settings to tell them and remind them to take pictures.
I wouldnt worry about that. A lot of the time people forget to even take their favors off the table.

I wouldnt be offended at all! And FYI - I jsut got a bunch of props for ours from a halloween store and Michaels. Very affordable, but also check childrens stores. I got, like, groucho marx glasses (with the eyebrows, nose, and moustache) some boas, wigs, etc, all for under $!0 (wigs) and all else was under 5

Photos are actually a great favor! I think they’re both practical and fun.

personally I think it’s a great idea. We are doing that and a candy buffet, but to me it’s something fun that isn’t a knick knack and won’t collect dust. I found some big glasses and other things for props at the dollar store and joann’s fabrics.

Great!! I’m so glad!! I would like a photobooth picture favor, but didn’t want to assume that everyone else would.

We’re doing a smilebooth, and I’m totally psyched. I don’t think you need to do any other favor besides a photobooth. (Well, you don’t even have to do favors. There’s no rule on that. :p )

I think this is a great favor. How many times do you get a favor and think hum… what am I going to do with this. You know with a photo, especially of themselves, people are going to keep it and they will always remember your wedding because of it!

We’re doing a photobooth, with pics as favors too! I think they’re great, and all of my friends are really excited about it. Look around at photobooth places in your area, if you’re planning on hiring one. The one that we’re using comes with props, and an attendant to help people put their pics in our book (the booth prints off 2 sets of pictures, so we’re also doing a “Photo Guestbook”).

I think it’s the part of our wedding that I’m most excited about!

We actually are doing one as well… we have the option of renting one at our venue (installed, permanent) but it is $1500 for the night. I think we are going to go with the MAC version- some kid wrote a really cool program for MACs, and all we have to do is buy the paper. and hire some high school kid to push the button on the computer.

I definitely wouldn’t be offended, but I love having photos to stick around my house. Most favors I get at weddings just collect dust for a while and then eventually get thrown out.

I think it’s a great idea…I love photos and it’s something that’s actually useable! Plus, I think favors aren’t all that necessary anyway - a nice touch for sure but i would hope guests don’t expect a “concrete favor” just for checking yes on your response card.

Photobooths are so fun, our friend’s just had one at their wedding, and it was a hit. They had a sort of 40s themed wedding, so had old-timey hats and stuff.

I’m turning my photos into favors by making really cute matted frame type things for the pictures to be slipped into after they are printed.

We had a photobooth at our wedding and everyone LOVED it!

I got most of our props at a dollar store! In the kids section they had huge sunglasses, boas, giant bling necklaces, and my favorite, giant polar bear paw gloves! We added a few more things that were more than $1, but the whole basket probably cost us $20 total. It was a blast to see a bunch of our guests out on the dance floor in fake mustaches and feather boas.

I think it’s a great favor! It’s a picture of them so hopefully something they will keep and they can remember the wonderful time they had at your wedding :)

Do you have a Savers where you live? It’s a thrift store “department” store and they always have tons of Halloween stuff that’s inexpensive and new - I got butterfly/fairy wings and a black feather boa there last year, both for under $12.

We did a photobooth and everyone loved it! Dont worry about favors and offending your guests. Believe it or not, most guests dont expect them and dont love the little trinkets they’ll never use again.

as a guest, I wouldn’t necessarily expect a favor at all, and i would be thrilled to have such a fun keepsake. i love fun pictures, i love photobooths. i’ve never been to a wedding with one, but i love love love the trend and fully intend to embrace it in my own wedding.

We are double-dipping and using them as favors and to fill the guestbook. The photobooth attendant will ask our guests to take two pictures instead of one.

If you get a digital photobooth, it can print the same picture twice at the same time which saves time.

i’m not a big fan of useless favors/trinkets. i’m sure most guests wouldn’t mind not having one unless they are uber traditional or something. the photobooth pic is a great favor idea so go for it! :) Plus it’s your wedding…who cares what other ppl think. Ppl are always gonna complain about something so might as well go with what you personally want.

Honestly I wouldnt be offended at all. I personally think most people are over the whole idea of a favor and understand its kind of silly to waste money on something that you end up only bringing out when the bride comes to visit, or throwing away. I think a picture is an adorable idea, as well as somthing people will look at and want to display!! I say if you like the idea and would be pleased, go for it!!!

You might want to check out some old antique stores for old funky jewelry, hats, etc… :)

I just got married and had a photobooth at my wedding. Hands down it was the best money I spent. The thing was filled all night. It was so much fun. All my guests loved it and it replaced my favors. My photobooth company also gave me a copy/and digital copies. The hard copies they put in a book for me for the guests to sign. The pictures are awesome and as the open bar was being emptied the signatures and well wishes got better and better. If you have it in your budget DO IT! Yesterday was our 1st month anniversary and our friends are still telling us about how cool it was.

I am actually thinking of no favors all together! I think they are totally just a waste of money unless you have enough in your budget to give your guest something they will actually use. My solution = OOT bags with minibar food and goodies. If they eat the hotel’s is would cause them tons of $$$

I’ve also thought about a photobooth but haven’t come across a reasonable priced vendor in San Diego. They run like $1800+ OUCH!!! I even costed out buying a 2 polaroids, film and one of those cool albums, but still it was about $1000

I think a lot of people nowadays are relieved to not have to take home a favor they don’t like. And EVERYONE likes photobooth pics, they’re so fun! I think they’ll be a big hit.

I personally wouldn’t be offended. I think the photobooth as a favor is fun and relatively “new”. I think it should be fine. If you do decide to forego actual favors, then you have a bit of extra cash to play around with…say a pair of kickass pair of wedding shoes?! ;-)

i think that’s the best thing ever. because i’m really fine without some item emblazoned with the couple’s names (seriously, what will i do with it????) or yet another pack of cookies/chocolates.

i think yr guests will have lots of fun and happy memories :)

I just did exactly that. I bought frames for the photobooth pictures on ebay too…the frames were doubled as a placecard/favor!

I have it all on my blog! Everyone thought it was great and original!

We are having a photobooth at our wedding in a few weeks. We are giving our guests a little piece of magnetic tape that they can stick on the back of their photo to turn it into a magnet. I think it will be a huge hit and it was really cheap too!

I think a photo from the photobooth would be the best favor! Rather than something I would eat (caloric intake?!? OMG) or something I would trash, the photo would be a REALLY great way to remember the event and have personal relevance, too.

@Miss Mouse: Yep! They will put them online so I can see all of them, and give me a CD. I will also ask about printing doubles of everything so I can have one, and the guests can have one.

I think it’s a great idea…in fact, we did the same thing at our wedding and the booth was the biggest hit at the reception. Everyone loved being able to take their photo strip with the our initials and date of the event. And if anyone is interested in renting a photo booth in Florida, you can get an authentic vintage one at http://www.snapitphotobooths.com at very reasonable rates.

Hi! We will give POLAROID pics like favors, we bought the camera and some film(very expensive cause it’s hard to find) we will hang them with clothespins… now we are thinking in the best background of the place, and old house from the 1800 in Spain.
Good Luck!
