About Mrs. Peep Toe

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony

September 3rd, 2009 @ 9:27 am by Mrs. Peep Toe

Last I left you, I think we were here:

0466

Please forgive me—to this day, thinking about our ceremony makes me feel like a sappy fool in love.

But when it feels this perfect and natural to stand next to someone, it makes you start to wonder if he wasn’t chosen for you long before.

0488

And while I tried to listen to the man in front of me talk about the importance of our Ketubah and the reason we were gathered together:

0456

I couldn’t help but think about how lucky I was to have found a man that I love so much.

0519

I wasn’t brought back to reality until the first sip of wine, which was handed to us each individually by the Rabbi:

0538

0539

Mr. Peep didn’t really understand what a sip was and went for a couple gulps:

0527

Papa Peep read Corinthians:

0550

We exchanged rings. Although, we’d forgotten that the ring was to be placed on the right hand, and then we’d individually put them on our left hands. Don’t quote me, but I believe it’s a sign that we’ve taken this step knowingly and willingly. Oops.

0698

I can still feel my nervous excitement:

0683

The second glass of wine was interrupted by a quick blessing from the sun:

0643

Followed by the Seven Blessings—with a spin. We had our loved ones write the blessings for us, based on a word or idea.

Happiness was represented by a quote from Charlie Brown:

0623

An Apache Wedding Prayer spoke perfectly about nature:

0632

While a good friend provided a funny quip on joy and frivolity:

0657

0636

Which was followed by a message on the human spirit:

0628

Some sweet words on peace and faith:

0662

And finally, a fabulous duo spoke on the importance of marriage and hoped that in 35 years we’d be asked to do a blessing on marriage, too:

0665

The seven blessings weren’t only sentimental, but a joyous way to include more of our family and friends into the day.

0641

Plus, each was a moment that I will forever hold in my heart (see, I told you was a big old sap).

Up next, bring on the waterworks as we exchange our vows.

How are you incorporating important family and friends into the ceremony?

This post just gave me chills - I had to share that with you!

The way you and your husband are looking at each other is just enough to make me grab FI and get married right now - THAT’S what it’s about.

I’m loving your re-cap - so joyful and full of love.

What a beautiful and touching ceremony! I love that photo of you two holding hands–we have a similar one from our wedding. I think it’s awesome that you had so many wonderful words from your family and friends. What a great way to start off your marriage!

It looks beautiful. We had our parents take part in the cultural aspects (coins and candles) and each had a cousin read.

That is exactly the kind of loving and engaging atmosphere I want for my ceremony. I would absolutely love to see the text of your readings, especially the 7 blessings your loved ones wrote themselves. Is there any way you’d be willing to share their words? I’d be so grateful.

It’s very inspiring to read about such a beautiful interfaith ceremony. There aren’t enough people out there sharing about this topic. I’m really worried we won’t be able to craft a ceremony to feel just right because I’m so clueless.

The picture where the sun peaks out and shines on your veil is beautiful! And your makeup looks fab in the pic of you drinking the wine!

@Bride.Muse: Thanks, we worked with our Rabbi who had done a lot of interfaith ceremonies to make it ours. Unfortunately, I don’t have the readings that everyone did. We trusted our folks to say whatever they wanted.

No one wears halters anymore, and I must say it’s a shame–love it. The back of your dress is great, too. I heart the 1st pic.
