Love by the Bay: The Ceremony

September 3rd, 2009 @ 9:27 am by Mrs. Peep Toe

Last I left you, I think we were here:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 04661 0466

Please forgive me—to this day, thinking about our ceremony makes me feel like a sappy fool in love.

But when it feels this perfect and natural to stand next to someone, it makes you start to wonder if he wasn’t chosen for you long before.

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 04881 0488

And while I tried to listen to the man in front of me talk about the importance of our Ketubah and the reason we were gathered together:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 04561 0456

I couldn’t help but think about how lucky I was to have found a man that I love so much.

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 05191 0519

I wasn’t brought back to reality until the first sip of wine, which was handed to us each individually by the Rabbi:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 05391 0539

Mr. Peep didn’t really understand what a sip was and went for a couple gulps:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 05271 0527

Papa Peep read Corinthians:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 05501 0550

We exchanged rings. Although, we’d forgotten that the ring was to be placed on the right hand, and then we’d individually put them on our left hands. Don’t quote me, but I believe it’s a sign that we’ve taken this step knowingly and willingly. Oops.

I can still feel my nervous excitement:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 06831 0683

The second glass of wine was interrupted by a quick blessing from the sun:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 06431 0643

Followed by the Seven Blessings—with a spin. We had our loved ones write the blessings for us, based on a word or idea.

Happiness was represented by a quote from Charlie Brown:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 06231 0623

An Apache Wedding Prayer spoke perfectly about nature:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 06321 0632

While a good friend provided a funny quip on joy and frivolity:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 06571 0657

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 06361 0636

Which was followed by a message on the human spirit:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 06281 0628

Some sweet words on peace and faith:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 06621 0662

And finally, a fabulous duo spoke on the importance of marriage and hoped that in 35 years we’d be asked to do a blessing on marriage, too:

Love by the Bay: The Ceremony : wedding pictures pro pics recap 06651 0665

The seven blessings weren’t only sentimental, but a joyous way to include more of our family and friends into the day.

Plus, each was a moment that I will forever hold in my heart (see, I told you was a big old sap).

Up next, bring on the waterworks as we exchange our vows.

How are you incorporating important family and friends into the ceremony?

This post just gave me chills - I had to share that with you!

The way you and your husband are looking at each other is just enough to make me grab FI and get married right now - THAT’S what it’s about.

I’m loving your re-cap - so joyful and full of love.

It looks beautiful. We had our parents take part in the cultural aspects (coins and candles) and each had a cousin read.
