Paper Cuts

I went to an intense six-year architecture program for college, worked for a couple of years as an architect after graduation, got burned out, and defected into the world of art museums (yay!). I sometimes feel a bit sheepish for doing so, but I know I made the right choice. It just didn’t make me happy. But, I am happy to say, the schooling was not for nothing. If it were not for those six years, I would not have my finger calluses from using the X-Acto knife for hours on end, building little models of houses and hospitals! These calluses are going to come in handy when I attempt these lovely paper projects!

    Those are so beautiful!

My most complicated project is most likely printing our entire invitation suite by hand. Intaglio what what. That will probably take 2034 years.

Wow ! Great to see some real creativity and originality.

Don’t feel ashamed that architecture felt wrong for you and you changed to a beter direction. It’s your life – and it’s not a dress rehearsal.

Best wishes for a long and happy marriage.

PS: don’t be afraid of your dreams !

BUT if you hadn’t given up architecture you could just have the laser cutter cut it out for you…no blisters :)
I’ve often debated the switch myself.

@Mrs. Gloss: Ah so true! Is it sad that when I gave up laser cutting was just starting to be the big thing? craziness. Hey I still ahve some friends at school, maybe they can hook me up!

Well, I have no problem cutting this out, I’m just wondering how to get the template ready!

those paper cuts are very similar to what we call ”papel picado” which is very common to display in bold colors at patriotic events or even at parties. People say it’s very easy to do, but i’ve never tried to do it myself! can’t wait to see how this project turn out!
