Broke-Ass Lodging for Bad-Ass Travelers

September 4th, 2009 @ 5:00 pm by Mrs. Meatball

Mad props go to the ever-fabulous and inspirational Emily from Once Wed for turning me on to Air B&B today. Air B&B is a vacation rental company that rents out some ultrafabby spaces, from private rooms to entire residences for PENNIES. Now, I’ve heard of couch-surfing before, but I’d much rather have my own space, especially if on a romantic vacation with my honey.

The site features listings that are reputation-based, allowing for comments and ratings by past renters, so you can get the dish before your commit. But chances are, you’re going to have a better experience than at a hotel, and you can cook your own meals for a double-savings bonus. This shiz is too good not to share!

Could you imagine honeymooning in one of these spots? I’m drooooooooling. They even have eco-options…. le swoon!

I mean, come ON people! Who’s with me? I’m already trolling for good flight deals just to have an excuse to try this out. Let’s all go rent a villa in the Alps, a’ight? I’m off to pack my bags now…

Count me in! Haha. These are great - I’m always bookmarking when I find decently-priced different options for where to stay … now I have a WHOLE SITE full options!

Thanks for this! I’ve bookmarked for when we look for honeymoon lodging and for lodging recommendations for our wedding! Most guests will be OOT so I think rather than hotel blocking we’re going to be doing NYC Budget Lodging recommendations instead. Thanks!

Thank you so much! My FI and I bought our honeymoon plane tickets yesterday and since we’ll be in SA during the world cup hotels are already booked up! This is a great alternative, I’m excited to meet some locals.

(When I studied abroad in college I loved to couch surf, my most random place was Kigali, Rwanda and I loved it! It’ll be nice to have a real bedroom this time :) )
