Wedding Dress Inspiration and Lace

September 4th, 2009 @ 11:34 am by Mrs. Moonbeam

Wedding Dress Inspiration and Lace : wedding wedding dress Dress 1

I love this dress from this wedding. Since I will be using grandma’s old lace for my dress, it seems like it’s got the right vibe.

But I do like my back, and was kind of hoping to show it off, so we’ll have to hybridize it with this dress:

Or this one:

This is the lace my Mom will be using to make my wedding dress.

It’s the lace from my Grandmother’s wedding dress.

And, oh yeah, my Mom wore it too.

It might be my favorite part of the wedding. Maybe I can talk Mr. Moonbeam into recreating my Dad’s tux look too! Gotta love brown velvet detailing.

Are you using any materials handed down in your wedding gown? How are you incorporating the old details in with your new details?

Gorgeous!!! That is so special to use your grandmothers lace! Will it be your something old?

I looove lace, my dress and veil definitely has lace, I always knew I wanted that.
Also - I tried on a dress just like your pic #3 - the front didnt flatter me at all so I didnt go with it, but I do love the concept.

Your inspiration photos are great! My grandmother made my mother’s dress, but it wasn’t preserved correctly and I’ll be lucky to have enough lace to wrap my bouquet with–

Love this! That is such an awesome new thing brides are doing, with using the fabric of their mother’s dresses. It kind of gives us girls an excuse to save our dresses now..!

I love the back of the first dress! So romantic. Funny that you ask about using something from our mother or grandmother because I just asked my Mom yesterday if she still had her dress. She said yes! She said it was in storage. The best part is that she still has her veil too! I love her veil, and I hope that I can use it or if it’s damaged parts of the veil.

SO pretty! I’m wearing my mom’s wedding dress to my reahearsal diner… sort of. I had it shortened and had the sleeves taken off (gotta love the sleeves in the 70’s!) so it’s more appropriate for our rehearsal dinner but still keeps the sentimental value. My mom’s REALLY excited about it, she’s so cute!

So neat! And your Grandma and Mom’s dresses are beautiful - can’t wait to see how you transform it. I hope you make a note in the program or something that mentions the history of the lace so all your guests know how special it is!

I can’t wait to see how it turns out either, but since Mom and I are a few states apart I only get to try on things she sends every once in a while. And it’s the one part of the wedding she’s made me promise not to blog about until after the ceremony. Since it probably won’t be finished until the week before the wedding that shouldn’t be too hard. But I have tried on the first mockup and love it!
