Miss Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.

Ring Bearer Pillow

September 5th, 2009 @ 12:50 pm by Miss Frozen Yogurt

I don’t think we’ll go with the traditional ring bearer pillows for our wedding. I’d like to do something different, and there are so many cute options available. I saw this in Martha Stewart Weddings and love it.

There was even a tutorial, but let’s be real, I don’t know how to sew, so the best I can do is go to Michaels, buy a pillow, a flower, and a hot glue gun. This could get messy. But I really like that I could essentially customize them for our wedding with any colors, flowers, etc. This also seems totally inexpensive.

Then I also saw these two on Wunderust on Etsy and I thought putting a little ring in the nest would be so sweet.

But we don’t really have a bird theme, so it might seem totally random that our ring bearers would be carrying nests.

I also came across these two on Paloma’s Nest on Etsy too, and thought they were adorable.

We could totally keep these somewhere in our house following the wedding. I could even keep one on the nightstand to put my rings in when I go to bed. I’m conflicted though. I don’t know which option to choose. They all seem great!

What do you think??

PALOMA. I would have purchased a bowl but my FMIL is handmaking our pillow out of her old wedding dress! Good luck choosing!

I like the nest! Well, I like them all, but it seems like the Paloma bowls are everywhere these days.

I like the nest! Well, I like them all, but it seems like the Paloma bowls are being used way often.

I did the Paloma bowl. It was cute and our Ring Bearer who is a bit older liked that he didn’t have to carry a pillow. The flower pillow IS adorable though ;)

Love the bowl, but the flower is pretty too. I will add the flower to my list of project ideas to share with other DIY brides. Agree too that it is easy to get in over your head with a DIY craft. That’s why we’ve started our new service here in Austin where we match DIY brides with instructors.

Looking for other great DIY craft ideas to share and do in our workshops so please pass any along that you think other DIY brides will like.

I love the flower pillow. It’s very romantic looking. However, I do like the bowls as well because, like you already said, you can keep it on your nightstand to store your rings. (Although I suppose the pillow could also be reused if it fit into your decor.)

fro-yo…making your own pillow is a good idea, i did it for ours and my sewing skills are very limited! I cut out letters in felt and hot glued them on, then made a heart shape for the pillow, hot glued half, then stuffed it, hot glued the other half, then did a rough stitch all the way around for the sewed look. =)

I like the simplicity and reusability (is that a word?) of the paloma’s nests.

I vote for the ring bowl from Paloma’s nest. It’s chic, and I love that you can personalize the quote inside the bowl.

The ones by Paloma are very popular. The flower is pretty too. I think you have to see which would be more special to you.

Those paloma ones are everywhere, probalby because they’re such a great idea. A little hint of your wedding every time you drop your keys at the door :)

I just finished making the Martha Stewart Flower pillows… I’ve had to do 2, b/c I have 2 ring bearers, but we’ve hand made the flowers (cut each petal out of the fabric and such!) so it’s been a longer project then usual but they look soooooo amazing now!
I vote for the flower pillow!

I like the reusability of the Paloma ones even if they are everywhere. The flower is also very sweet and romantic.

Paloma’s Nest for sure! I was THISCLOSE to ordering one, before we went with a vintage book that totally reflected our story.

I think it’s great that you can truly reuse it, or even hang it up as a Christmas ornament!

We are probably going to do the Marthe Stewart pillow. I was on the verge of ordering the Ring Bowl, but decided it was just too expensive. I know we could keep it for future use and what not, but at this point, money over-rules sentiment. If anything, I’ll buy one later when $$$ isn’t an issue.

Oh! And if money isn’t an issue for you, I say go for the ring bowl =)

I know that the paloma’s nest bowls are everywhere, but I’ve never been to a wedding with them. I think it’s just because I read so many wedding blogs everyday. :)

I’ve never seen those Paloma’s Nest bowls in person, but I’ve loved them in all the blog photos! :) We didn’t have a ringbearer, so we didn’t have any of these. I do love those bowls though!

I do love the little nest ones. Very cute! I think you could make your own, though. I’d like to see what you can come up with!

Hi Ms. Fro Yo!

I found someone on etsy that will re-create the pillow for less than $50!! Let me know if you are interested and I’ll send over the link!

Thanks!

I love the bowl! I think it would be a great idea to put it on your nightstand to hold your rings :)
