And the Bride Wore…

September 8th, 2009 @ 11:57 am by Mrs. Mary Jane

Green!

I decided very recently that the pearl necklace I’d planned to wear — while absolutely lovely — just wasn’t fitting my “look”. A delicate white gold or sterling silver necklace was what I needed. After scouring various quick-shipping resources online, I came to the conclusion that I really liked the idea of wearing a peridot necklace. Peridot is not only Mr. MJ’s birthstone: it also matches the hue of my shoes and sash.

Alas, with the wedding day fast approaching, I couldn’t find anything online that’d be shipped quickly enough. And I couldn’t find a cheap solution at any local department or discount stores either. With Mr. Mary Jane’s encouragement, I hit up River City Jewelers (where we bought our rings). I spent a lot of money (well, a lot given that my budget for this was ummm, zero dollars) and picked out the exact shape, size, and color peridot I wanted. They ordered it, mounted it, and had it ready for me on Saturday!

Here’s everything together.

And the Bride Wore... : wedding jewelry Accesso

Clockwise from the top left: My peridot pendant necklace, my hair flower, my bracelet, my [faux] pearl studs, and my marquise earrings.

Oh, and don’t forget my ring!

I decided to use the pearl studs (for my second hole) because they tie in with the big pearl center of my hair flower. The pins I’m going to use in my bouquet are also pearl, so there is at least some sort of tie-in.

I don’t have any other peridot jewelry. Mr. MJ expressed concern about this, but I think that the green in my shoes, sash, and bouquet ribbon will provide the continuity desired to make it look intentional.

I’m so excited to wear it all together!

Have you made any last-minute splurges on your wedding day accessories?

I went with my FI’s birthstone as my necklace, too. A ginormous topaz XD

I think you are right, it really does fit with your whole look! I love that it also happens to be the Mr’s birthstone, it makes it that much more meaningful. This reminds me I need to get it together and figure my jewlery situation as well!!

That’s a beautiful peridot piece. I usually don’t like peridot even though it’s my birthstone, but that’s a pretty piece. Peridot looks so make prettier in white gold than yellow gold.
