Then I followed my beau out here to LA and we're getting settled in. I've been making things since I can remember. I was raised by crafters. I love to sew, draw, paint, build, cook, bake (anything with a tangible end result is fair game). In that same spirit, I've been hosting since I was old enough to cook and set a fancy table. I kind of take after my grandmother, who believes that your morning OJ always tastes better out of the good crystal.

Fabric Flower Tests

September 8th, 2009 @ 5:15 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

Fabric Flower Tests : wedding crafts diy flowers Flower I’ve been testing my fabric flower making skills, and I’m starting to like some of the results.

Here is the tutorial for the frayed fabric rosettes, and the tutorial for the yarn pom-pom flowers.

The felt flowers are just petal shapes sewn together and attached with a button. The lace flower is just lace that’s been snipped around the petal shapes and sewn together.

I found that mixing the rosettes and pom-poms made the sturdiest flower when placed on floral wire, but I’ll be testing different ways to attach the flowers to their stems. No one likes a droopy flower.

Are you considering alternative florals? What are some ways you’re using fabric/paper flowers to spruce up your wedding?

oh wow… that pom pom flower is so gorgeous. im making some of our flowers too, but just the table flowers. yarn isn’t really a texture i was incorporating, but i may try and find another way to pull off that pom pom flower so i can add those as well. :)

We are using some dried flowers rather than fresh. That is about as alternative as we get. : )

I love the fabric flowers they would be great for many projects.

Very economical. Instead of using real flowers, fabric can also be used as an alternate if you want to save money and its cute and unique.
