… which means it was terrrrrrrrible. It was a long day of work, lectures, and practicing clinical skills. As is my habit after coming home, I switched my laptop on to check my email. I quickly scanned through the 10 or so new emails to see if there was anything noteworthy, or just another message from Victoria’s Secret telling me I could get a free pair of panties if I bought another bra. My eyes quickly stopped on one message that said “Weddingbee”. My heart stopped. I quickly opened it, hoping that it wasn’t a rejection note.
“Ohhmygooooooshhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I’m going to be a bee!” I gleefully announced to my fiance. His response: “SIGHHHHHHHH. Do you promise to stop being obsessed with Weddingbee after our wedding, now?” And all I could do was just giggle with joy, which is odd, because I am definitely NOT the giggly nor gleeful type. Best Monday ever, hands down.
With all that said, I am seriously thrilled that I was chosen to be a bee! I have been following Weddingbee for.ev.er. No really - since it was just a “featured site” on Xanga. I am a faithfully addicted reader (hence, the comment by my poor fiance), and have been inspired many times over by the wonderful now-Mrs. bees. I always thought that I would apply to WB once I got engaged; but I was struck by the selfish monster, and really wanted to keep all my ideas and spin-offs (what I call “my creations” that were inspired by far more creative crafting mamas) to myself. Sad, I know. At any rate, through the past several months of being engaged, I realized that I actually liked to share my ideas, tips, and experiences. So, I decided to stop hoarding and start sharing and caring… and now I’m here!
A fun random fact about me and Weddingbee…
I am actually the 4th optometry student/optometrist to be a bee! Crazy weird, right?
I chose “Ramen” not based on the fact that I’m obviously Asian, BUT because ramen is soooo ridiculously good! I’m not talking about the hard kind in the square-ish package that costs 10 cents, but the REAL kind of homemade Japanese ramen. It. is. so. goooooood. If you have not had the extreme pleasure of tasting fresh ramen, run as fast as you can off to Ippudo in NYC (and get a pork bun there while you’re at it), or to Shinsengumi in Fountain Valley (CA), or Hana Sushi in Phoenix, and try it! You and your taste buds can thank me later. (Can you tell I’m a bit of a foodie?)
Back to the subject of being a bee - I’m looking forward to sharing all of my crazy ideas, spin-offs, opinions, and tips as we plan our wedding!
