Mrs. Moonbeam, Los Angeles/San Antonio Age and Occupation: 26, Intern Architect Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Studio Analyst, aspiring Screenwriter Engagement Date: May 20, 2009 Wedding Date: November 2009 Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (LaCoste, TX) and Mary Gray Events Center (Castroville, TX) About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, but after college I moved to Seattle for a couple of years and loved it. Then I followed my beau out here to LA and we're getting settled in. I've been making things since I can remember. I was raised by crafters. I love to sew, draw, paint, build, cook, bake (anything with a tangible end result is fair game). In that same spirit, I've been hosting since I was old enough to cook and set a fancy table. I kind of take after my grandmother, who believes that your morning OJ always tastes better out of the good crystal.

Invite First Draft

September 9th, 2009 @ 5:54 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

Invite First Draft : wedding invitations Invite

So, it’s the first idea, and we may or may not go with it. The font we used is dekthusian. The inspiration is from a Charles Rennie MacKintosh stained glass window:

Charles was one of the architects that stuck out in one of my architecture history classes. His work can look similarto Frank Lloyd Wright’s prairie style details at times, but I think Rennie’s had a little more whimsy.

Did a piece of art or architecture inspire any portion of your wedding?

I love your inspiration. And I love how well it translated to your invite. I think that it all compliments each other perfectly.

I love the invitation AND the inspiration. We actually were inspired by architectural details at our venue in our invitation design. Our venue featured floor tiles and details from the Arts and Crafts period. My husband actually took photos and used the floor tiles as a motif on our invites and all other paper products for the wedding.

Thanks y’all, but I didn’t go with it. More posts coming soon on this topic, I’m in the middle of the final invite push. Just fiddling with the map. I did like that design though, and purple flowers definitely make an appearance!

I like the flower part, but I’m not too crazy about the font. I think it would look better if it was more of a swirly or cursive font.
